Pros: We've travelled widely in Mexico, and have often been a little disappointed. Not so with The Matea Inn. It really delivered. The rooms very comfortable and clean with tasteful eclectic décor, and service was excellent! We also really liked visiting the swimming pool and restaurants nearby.
Cons: The only thing we thought could have been better would be to have some facilities in the room to make hot drinks (i.e. Nespresso with a couple of pods).

9.2 Excellent
Pros: All good!
Cons: English speaking staff - we found some communication difficult. It was clearly aimed at local Mexicans. Dogs barking at night was difficult.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: I like so much the pillows, and the food was so great, the rooms are so good and comfortable.
Cons: I like all my experience, all in the hotel was excellent.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Good breakfast, professional staff
Cons: Hotel is not close to 5 stars, more like 2 and in need of many repairs. Plumbing in the room wasn’t working properly , multiple power failures, patio door didn’t close resulting in our need to move rooms. Not enough pool towels. Slow and confusing checkin and car valet process. No pool towels for outside kids pool. Kids pool was the only heated pool outside and it wasn’t very warm. Long wait for breakfast.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The rooms are nice. The hotel has great potential, too bad for all other staff that went wrong. The hotel has very nice properties.
Cons: We arrive at 4 pm, the check in is at 3 pm, but our room was only ready at 6 pm!! We were with 3 little kids. They didn’t care. When we got the room our suitcases were missing and it took another half hour to get them. The pool is nice but was so dirty that the kids didn’t want to go in. The food in the restaurant of the hotel is not the best even the pizza was like frozen pizza.
7.9 Good
Cons: I didn't like the front desk making a welcome calls at 10pm. The pool was very cold

5.8 Okay
Pros: The hotel personnel was very nice and accessible
Cons: The hotel is very old and in desperate need of a renovation, the towels are worn and need to be replaced. The bathroom needed a paint job and the shower curtain should be replaced for a door since curtains are not very good for higiene.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The privacy, peacefulness, and clean swimming pools. Location
Cons: I took a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate a friend's birthday and had asked the staff if they could put it in their fridge to chill for the evening. Everything had been perfect until in the evening we asked for our bottle and they told me I had to pay $200 MX to be allowed to open it! I was so surprised because when I gave it to them to put in the fridge no mention of a charge had been made until the evening when I asked for it. This certainly spoiled the mood for us and decided not to open the bottle in the end. Totally careless!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location ...across from the Balneario and Spa
Cons: Not many of the staff can speak English
5.0 Okay

Casa D Lobo Hotel Boutique - Ixtapan de la Sal - Bedroom
8.4 Excellent (87 reviews)
C$ 199+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Casa D Lobo Hotel Boutique in Malinalco (San Pedro), you'll be a 4-minute walk from Living Museum and 14 minutes by foot from Artisan Gallery Malinalco. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.8 Okay
Pros: I liked the location.
Cons: The price was high for what you got. Essentially it’s a bungalow of two homes with rooms. The rooms all have sliding doors that don’t locked easily and I was worried about security and safety. The staff locks the front gate, so if you want to leave or come back you have to call a staff person. It felt more like a prison than a retreat.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is on a quiet street, about a 10 minute walk from downtown Malinalco. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful; served us a nice breakfast by the pool. The hotel property had lush vegetation surrounding the building and the pool area which was nice. I thought the rooms could have been a tad cheaper compared to other destinations I have been to in Mexico. Would most probably stay there again if I go to Malinalco. Malinalco is a very cute town; it has a bunch of little shops and restaurants in the downtown plaza. The street market which is open only during the weekend I believe, is very lively and adds to the delicious food options. The convent/church in the town has amazing frescos painted mostly on its inner courtyard walls. The hike to the pyramids is a MUST.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: the place is great, the adaptation to the house is great The gardens make you feel really outside the city. great local food the staff is super friendly, the location is Ok, not far from all the action in Malinalco.
Cons: well just a tiny detail: the garden was watered at 6 AM, it could wait lillte late.
