Cons:

Waited well over an hour for the car to get cleaned before I picked it up, making me very late for a couple meetings. The checkout counter was also incredibly slow, with no urgency shown by the staff.

Pros:

Car was excellent and a very good value.

Cons:

Pick-up and drop off were slow and drawn out. Stood by for 15 minutes waiting to check out while one agent worked and two others walked in and out without a word. Finally someone noticed me standing there and said someone would soon help me. Another 5 mintes with no attention!

They canceled my rental AFTER i called them and emailed them that i was arriving late due to flight cancellations and wearher. When i arrived the next morning the counter guy said my trip was canceled and theres nothing i can do about it. I want a refund.

Pros:

The staff at the rental counter and the auto check out were very friendly and professional. It could not have been simpler.

Cons:

They probably say the same thing every time there is a new customer, but I would suggest they take a little bit of time explaining the charges when renting a car. The masks don't help, but also the fact that I don't rent cars very often makes it important to explain it fully.

Pros:

Drop off was very easy, just pulled up and got checked in and wasn’t far from my terminal. Also it was cheaper than getting one not at the airport.

Cons:

I got there really late at night and two attendants were busy for quite awhile. Only one girl at the counter. She ran into a couple snags and anyway it was 20 min before I was greeted...but well taken care of after.

I reserved an economy car in advanced and when I went to Hertz to get the car, I was told that they were all out of economy cars. I had to pay additional money to upgrade to the next available grade car since they wouldn't upgrade me for free. Really unhappy about this switch and bait tactic.

What could be better?: Provide a vehicle that is actually equivalent to the one reserved. When a 4WD drive car is reserved, a 4WD should be provided. The car I rented was dirty. Hairs on upholstery and coffee foam on interior door handle. Additionally pressure was low in one tire and they tire didn’t hold pressure after we put in air.

The whole experience was horrible. I went to the rental counter after arriving, waited 30 mins in a queue of only a few people, only to be told my card couldn’t be accepted (Apple MC), nor could my debit (BoA). I made the reservation with this same card even. I was then told he could get me a good deal with another company offsite (Stop then Go). Same thing occurred to the people in line behind me. We wait for a shuttle to the offsite company and I did get a car. But at this point, I am hour behind schedule, and now no longer in the electric car I’d chosen with Dollar, and in a very basic gas Hyundai. And the Dollar rep said I’d have to contact Dollar myself to cancel the reservation I’d already paid for. So that was another chunk of my time spent dealing with it all, and now I have to wait like 10 days for the investigation into why I asked to cancel, before I get my money back for the car I was never given. An absolute nasty process overall, with no consideration for the customers time whatsoever.

Communication, availability of information, and ability to get through to customer service was very poor. At one point I was sent to different departments 4 times with the call getting dropped after the 4th time.

Staff at the desk looks sad no smile, I booked for child seat when I asked where is the child seat the person at the airport location (parking) told me to get it from their storage instead of assisting me. Storage was dark and child seat on top of each other I needed to dig for it. The car interior was clean but the outside especially the wind shield is dirty. I got upgraded because the type of vehicle I book is not available for same rate is something positive.

Convertible

Budget did not provide me with a convertible as booked and paid over $160 per day and after making me wait for one hour gave me a SUV. They could not predict any wait time, this seems like a scam. The SUV had 3/4 gas when given and I was charged $55 for not filling uopp to full since I topped off to 3/4. Luckily the attendant waived off $50 but I still ended up paying $5 gas fine when I returned the SUV as got at 3/4 gas tank. Overall a scam to wait one hour, not get my convertible and get charged for it and extra.

Bad. At car pickup, had to follow up with girl 2x before we got our car. Seems like car was actually ready when we asked the second time, not sure why she didn’t tell us and made us wait. At car drop off in lax, didn’t know location changed. GPS sent us to wrong location. Guy at check in should’ve given us heads up since he knew we were dropping off at lax. And at lax, old signs still point to old location
