To find out later that they charge 3.50for shirts and pants, and 1.50 for socks and undies.. they were not honest with us. Breakfast at the hotel was about 35.00 for four people, simply juice and a small omlet. No elavators! We were on the 4th floor..

Cons: Barcelo Hotel now offers gym membership and access to the pool to locals. Those who buy membership to the gym also are allowed to use the pool area thereafter. I am pretty sure that many local residence obtain gym memberhip just to be able to use a pool.. Well, this is a huge incinvenience for visitors and guests of the Barcelo Hotel. The day we arrived, te pool was full of local teenagers who were cursing, making a lot of unnecessary noise, inappropriately making out in the pool and behaving in a very obnoxious matter. There was no security nor anyone from hotel management around to observe and to correct the situation. To Barcelo Management: if you want and need to have a repetitive business, you must either ban te local visitors from using a pool or have someone to observe the disipline in your pool area. a

Cons: The room key has to be inserted in order for the air and lights to work, which is inconvenient. While showering, the water seeps through and floods the bathroom. There is no free wifi. The breakfast was not worth it's expensive price. The fan makes a sudden and loud noise. The cleaning service knocks on your door 3 times a night to check up on things. The gym was really hot and under construction. There were pigeons that would get in the pool. No calls can be made (not even local calls) unless a credit is paid prior. The toilet wouldn't flush and maintenence had to be called everyday to fix it. Things would be moved or gone missing after the room was cleaned.

Pros: I have stayed at many hotels and resorts around the world. This place from the start treats you like you like you are the only one in the room :). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was great especially the pasta and shrimp, the salmon wasn’t as fresh as I like but still it was good. The facilities were 4/5 and were state of the art. With the Sheraton club ithe benefits are so worth it. The staff can guide you to places you would like to visit. With google translate outside you should be ok as well. I do not speak much Spanish but the staff spoke English well enough for us to communicate

We tried to hook up the computer to the tv via a cord-- and the hotel only has one remote control (for the entire hotel) that changes the inputs on the tv. The prices for the buffets/food were ridiculous. $35 for lunch plus 28% in taxes. This includes the 18% ITBIS and does not include tip.

Pros: The bedding super comfortable, fluffy and perfect quality. We were overwhelmed with the staff hospitality, from the bell person( Elias) to the reception( Ivan), room service, the pool attendant. Everyone went above and beyond. My daughter and I commented on our flight back about how our last day in Santo Domingo was outstanding due to the courtesy from the staff at the Sheraton.

Cons: I didn't like anything. The shower was very small, the way they set up the minibar was deceitful. I figured the stuff was free to make up for such low quality. Literally over $60 for snacks you could get at a store for $10 or less. There's a little booklet that had prices but it's basically hidden. They did that on purpose. The room had nothing special in it. Felt kind of gross too but it was pretty expensive. I can't recommend this place.

Parking is very tough in this area. The reception was warm and welcoming. They speak English and Spanish. The staff is very helpful with whatever you need. Pros: The staff was very helpful. The hotel was advertised. The included breakfast was well worth the money. Location is great fir exploring the colonial zone.
Cons: The pool was very small. The hot water in the shower works but is unpredictable. Not a luxury hotel but very comfortable.
