Check-in line was very slow. Once I got to an agent to get my car, they tried to sell me every insurance coverage under the sun. I had already purchased the collision liability, but that didn't stop them from trying to sell it to me. Second, the Toyota Rush I got was extremely basic. It only had a lock and unlock on the remote, no button to release the back hatch. The back hatch button on the outside of the car worked sporadically. Pickup was a nightmare! It took us literally two hours to stand in line and get our car. They took their time and pushed and insisted we buy more insurance saying we weren’t covered by our own insurance plus the one we purchased through Kayak! It’s not that the lines were that long, it was the slowness of the process and the fact that when we got there five Budget people were assisting customers then 4, 3, 2, and finally only one. It was painful and such a waste of our time. Fortunately the young woman when we returned the car was so kind we almost weren’t going to write this, but we weren’t alone to suffer the pickup process, so here it is. We hope the company reads this and makes appropriate changes. 😊Reviewed 4 Mar 2026

Rent at the airport was not actually at the airport. 1.5 hour wait on the line to rent the car in a hot room. Water available, but no cups for water, even when asked for. Forced sale for extra insurance. When returning the car, old dents and scratches were claimed new. Thankfully I had a video of all details when rented the car. People in Costa Rica are very nice in general. That is why I believe bad elements to be systematic for car rental business.Reviewed 26 Mar 2025

Waited over an hour and a half for car pickup even tho there were 6 resos ahead of us. Agents tried very hard to upsell all the insurance they could, creating an even longer pick up experience.
