We arrived at the Budget counter at our scheduled pick up time, 1 pm. The line to get to the counter was a football field long. After asking those in the front we determined the wait time was 2-3 hours. We had doctor's appointments in Reno that afternoon which we would make, if we were able to get our car and go. A 2.5 hour wait would result in missing the appointments. We called an Uber and proceeded to Reno to make our appointments. I tried to cancel my reservation, only to be told on the app that I could not cancel. I will be disputing any charge on my credit card as Budget clearly did not meet the requirement of the contract to have an available car in a reasonable amount of time. Budget was well aware of the demand for cars to which they had agreed to supply. They had two representatives to service 100 yards of customers. That is not reasonable. Avis, Hertz and Enterprise had lines of two to three waiting customers; that is reasonable. I will never use on-line suppliers like Kayak again to book a rental car. I was given a new car with only about 3,000 miles on it. Pick up staff and drop off staff were polite, friendly and effecient. It was clean inside and out. It had a small pit in the front window when I received the car but that was not noted by the staff but was not charged Down side was receiving the car wirh just over 3/4 tank of gas. They have noone to show or discuss this with upon leving the lot so I took a photo with the milage and tank level. When I returned the car I point this out. I returned the car with the same amount of fuel that it had when I checked it out and was told that I would be charged because that was automatic but I should watch for a refund in a few weeks. Why not address and rectify the situation then and there rather than take my money, hold my money and payme back later for something I never received?Reviewed 16 Mar. 2023

The car smelled awful - clearly used long term by a smoker. The key fob was smashed so hard that the "lock" button didn't work and I had to lock from the car door on my way out. I was the last customer before closing so I wasn't able to tell the counter. Service at both drop-off and pick-up locations was good.Reviewed 11 Mar. 2023

I would have appreciated someone to mark the dents on the car/cigarette smoke in the cabin (instead, I was told to mark them myself, and tell the employee at the receiving Budget Rental facility at the end of my place (different return) that they could call the originating Budget for "verification" even though they refused to mark anything in an official record). I found the overall price paid to be higher than what I was charged. They also refused to accept my auto insurance as coverage, requiring me to take full liability if something happened to the car. The cat we originally picked up did not have good fuel economy. We drove it for 3 days and then rang Budget to ask about exchanging it. They said take it in to Sacramento airport desk and they will sort it. We did this and the gentleman at the counter could not have been more helpful. We picked a Hyundai Elantra and it was perfect for our trip down south to the Grand Canyon and southern national parks. Full marks to Budget for their customer service and no hassle car hire.Reviewed 30 Oct. 2022
