Pros: Merlindale was fabulous, Helen and Paul were superb hosts and all the little extras made our stay perfect. The room was lovely, very comfy bed and amazing bathroom. We had a hospitality tray with a bottle of single malt whisky, home made tablet and shortbread. We even had bath robes and slippers provided. The breakfast was perfectly cooked with an amazing selection.
Cons: Nothing, it was perfect.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I've stayed all over Scotland this year, from the Borders to the Hedbrides and Orkney. This was the loveliest place we've had the pleasure of staying in on the Scottish mainland. Heads up vegetarians: here you'll find the best breakfast in the whole of Scotland (and I am very particular about breakfast!). Paul and Helen were superb hosts- warm, friendly, authentic and fun; their house was immaculate and homely at once; our room was spotless, massive, and comfy. Speaking of which - these are the comfiest beds in mainland Scotland, too. And what a beautiful touch- the dram of whisky, the homemade tablet and the homemade shortbread (didn't last long!). Plus AWESOME selection of clipper tea. Loads of fluffy, spotless towels; great toiletries- basically, everything you can think of: Paul and Helen, the owners, have it covered. Wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Merlindale. An absolute delight. Excited to try the bath next time! Thank you again for such a LOVELY stay and at such short notice, too!
Cons: Having to leave. We could have stayed forever and we promise we will back, as well as telling all and sundry about how beautiful Merlindale is. Keep living the dream. You love what you do and it shows :-)

Pros: The room was beautiful. Extra big bed that was very comfortable. Little whisky decanter in room was a nice touch. Bathroom is very spacious and spotless, looks brand new. Paul and Helen were lovely and very obliging with any request. Breakfast was delicious too and more than enough. There was a great selection from a continental style buffet with a full cooked breakfast too. Only a 7-8 minute walk to Crieff town centre.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Clean and spacious. The owner, Paul was very friendly and helpful. The scrambled egg for breakfast was fantastic. Close to the town center.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved Yann & Shari place great location very friendly, huge room with huge bed. Loved our meal & breakfast. House decor was beautiful cant fault it
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gleanearn House is an old estate house with period furnishings and beautiful gardens. The owners are charming and friendly. Yann's bistro restaurant is first rate and serves Scottish favourites with a Savoy flare (meaning lots of meat and cheese). The wine list is excellent. Their staff were interested in serving their clientele and fully engaged in meeting their needs. Our room was comfortable, and spacious with a view. We particularly liked the walk-in shower
Cons: Our room was a climb three floors up a steep staircase. We found it a bit cold because there was a window in the bathroom we couldnt close. However the staff dealt with these issues as soon as we drew them to their attention
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely big double fronted villa, sensitively decorated and furnished with taste. Owners and staff extremely friendly and welcoming. Yann’s food outstanding!

The Owners and Staff were excellent and helpful , the rooms more than perfect and the Restaurant , the breakfast and dinner ... also perfect , serving the house - quests , but also diners from outside . This stay was a relief for us after experiencing some other “ hotels “ in Scotland
Cons: There was nothing there to dislike .

Pros: Everything else !!! Beautifully stunning place and good location Attention to detail from staff in the restaurant Magnificent food and the best mushroom omlette for breakfast ever . Also look out for the crispy poached eggs perfect !
Cons: Early breakfast 8.30 to 9.00am a little extension to folk like us would make this a 10 score and a slighter later checkout than 10am too

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nicely appointed and clean. Great choice of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There was a small fridge in the room with complimentary bottles of water. The bed was extremely comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was lovely. Great range of cereals and cakes at breakfast too.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved every second of our stay, I cannot sing their praises enough! Check-in was so easy and welcoming, we were shown to our adorable room and our hosts were incredibly kind. The booklet in the room is really helpful with places to go and visit and to eat (highly recommend The Meadow Inn next door!). There is even a fridge in the room which I was mega impressed with. Complementary galaxy hot chocolate sachets by the kettle and shortbread too! Breakfast was amazing, cooked really well (just don't forget to ask for baked beans if you like them with a fry-up as they're included in the vegetarian option but you have to ask for them if you're having a standard full breakfast. The beans were Heinz (bonus points) and there were mushrooms! There were mini-cakes, croissants, cereal bars, yoghurts, fruit (fresh and tinned), cereal and shortbread. We were served with tea and coffee each morning - they had decaf coffee too! Parking was free and we always found a space. The shower got nice and hot and flannels and soap were provided! Oh, and if you wanted fresh milk for upstairs drinks then you can ask for some! Really made our honeymoon special staying here, we will be back soon for sure!!
Cons: It's a small thing, but I wish there were some decaf tea bags and some decaf coffee sachets in the room by the kettle.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible easy to communicate wit the owner, a fantastic location close to Strathearn Distillery where I was doing a course for the week, and very clean and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very romantic lodge.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The warmth of the welcome, the view from the conservatory/lounge, the decor and furnishings; the generous provision of toiletries and kitchen accessories, e.g. tin foil, washing up liquid, etc.; the ground floor twin room and bathroom, ramps in the garden; the enthusiastic acceptance of our little dog - and the location, near Crieff: ideal for a touring holiday in the outstanding landscape of Perthshire and the west. The trouble with giving a review like this is that the cottage will become even more popular and might be booked next time we want to visit there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Matt is a lovely host and nothing is too much trouble, the house is very well appointed, extremely comfortable and we felt right at home from first opening the door. It is perfectly situated for exploring the heart of Scotland and in an idyllic place to sit out with a beer or a cup of Tea and unwind.
Cons: Hand on heart, I cannot think of anything to put here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful cottage, excellent views, welcoming ,helpful, informative host. Great place to be in Perthshire and Trossachs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing was perfect 10 out of 10
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful and relaxing
Cons: Perhaps it is time to review the crockery and glasses
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The cottage is located just a few miles from conveniences, and what a great central location for the day trips we planned. The views from the living/lounge room were amazing, and changed constantly depending on the weather. We felt right at home from the moment we met our host, Matt. The cottage may be located in what some consider "the middle of nowhere", but I say then leave me in "nowhere" because it is as beautiful as we could imagine. Greg, Deb & Brett (Illinois, USA)

Pros: This is a fabulous small highland hotel. The welcome was warm and all the staff were very friendly. The dinner and breakfast were superb. The mainly local ingredients were cooked to perfection by chef Filip and his staff. The service from Zoltan and Scott, the dining staff, was friendly, efficient and informative. The owners Laura and Panu were perfect hosts, giving guests their time and being genuinely interested in our feedback. The hotel was was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed it so much we have re - booked for another stay. It is great value for money and the views of Loch Earn from the hotel are outstanding.

Cons: Service staff too overly informative.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room is super comfy and tidy. The bed is large and soft, the bathroom is clean with the hot water provided. Also, there were all the needed facilities in the room: towels, hygienic stuff, extra blanket, iron, kettle with mugs, hairdryer, etc. Also, they provide a wide range of options for breakfast which you can choose.
Cons: The prices in their restaurant are a little bit too high for the portions they provide with. Also, the sounds of the water coming up in the neighbors’ bathrooms can be very well heard in your own room.

Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was exceptional in the restaurant!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food served for both breakfast and dinner at the hotel was generally very good. The Head Waiter was very informative and provided excellent service. The hotel is situated at the eastern end of Loch Earn and is an excellent location for walking and exploring in the Highlands.
Cons: We stayed at the hotel for three nights and ate at the hotel restaurant every night. Whilst the dinner menu was superb the number of items on the menu is limited and so if one stayed for more than three nights you would probably have to repeat order dishes you had on previous nights.

Pros: Michael is a very nice and most friendly host who helped whenever he could (parking the car in the back yard, recommending restaurants, washing the dirty orienteering clothes). It was a pleasure talking to him about his former activities as a golf professional. He is interested what his guests are doing and even visited the local orienteering event to cheer us up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Order, everything tidy and clean. Attention superb, really good attention, details everywhere.
Cons: Really fantastic attention by Michael, very fond of his behavior and advise, the pub where we had dinner was really good. The best place to stay if you are in Perthshire.

Pros: The property was clean and it was in a great location for the Highland games. Breakfast was great but the highlight I must say was Michael. He was very attentive in our needs and he even dried our clothes after we came soaked from the games. Breakfast in Murray Park is fantastic everything cooked to order and nothing is a problem with dietary requirements. The rooms are spacious and well decorated, the beds are extremely comfortable, we had our 2 kids in the family suite their room is within the suite and allows them and us privacy. The kids both commented on how comfy the beds are...daddy can we get these beds please

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The whole feel of the castle was lovely.
Cons: There were 4 of us and we had dinner in the rooftop restaurant only 1 of us enjoyed the meal. Very disappointing. !!
5.4 Okay
Pros: The location. I didn't stay long enough to use facilities.
Cons: Unfortunately I did not have a great night staying here. The room that I was given smelt very musty, like a damp smell but as the hotel was full they couldn't move me. It was quite overpowering. I had arrived in the evening and was going to an event in the town that night so I wasn't hanging around. However, when I came back, I had to sleep with the window open, despite there being a strong wind that night. When I came home I had to put my night clothes into a hot wash as the smell was all over them. I made a further complaint in the morning when checking out and no discount was offered although they thanked me for my feedback. My mistake was not to ask for something to be taken off the bill there and then. I have since been in contact with the Manager who has offered to look after me if I ever go back. I don't visit Crieff on a regular basis. However he has refused any kind of a refund. I guess I feel that paying £140 for a night when I had to sleep in a musty room is not a great service. I have worked in hotels in the past and know that this wouldn't be an approach I would ever have taken. I am also very cognisant of the effect of a disappointed review on a hotel and it is with great reluctance that I am posting this. The manager pointed out that they had had no complaints about the room before or after,.. but this doesn't discount my very uncomfortable night in what should have been a lovely stay. I feel my complaint was dismissed and not taken seriously. The breakfast in the morning was OK, felt like the bare minimum to pass for Scottish hospitality. It felt like a conveyor belt with all the attention on getting guests in and out.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: location
Cons: nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: Having a swim. Breakfast and staff.
Cons: The pool area was dirty. Beside the Jacuzzi was filthy. The towels were really really old. The doors in the changing area leading to the pool were horrible and falling apart. I did enjoy the pool but it was let down but an air of disrepair. In the new changing area for ladies the light kept going out on me as they were on a timer. I came out stressed. Our room was mediocre. Premier inn standard . The electricity stopped at one point. Not too long until it was fixed. Breakfast was lovely.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: stayed in a lodge... its was great, all our needs were catered for. Staff within the hotel & spa were all so helpful too. Will certainly book again. Great location & beautiful scenery & lots to do there & places to visit in the surrounding area too. Left feeling very relaxed & rejeuvenated. Everyone in our party enjoyed the stay.

Pros: Everything Leaving
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Loved the grounds
Cons: Very standard
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff, meals, good with children a good ambience in the hotel just let down by silly things
Cons: Given a ticket number 3946 what is that 2 do with room 369 ? Heating a kettle in a draw why, not even a saucer. Hair dryer attached to the wall coming out of a drawer with no mirror You need to put signs on the steam/sauna area to stop people opening the steam room door every minute a clock in the rooms would be helpful. There were no signs to say the lego thing on the Sunday was cancelled we asked a manager but he never came back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, welcoming and nice atmosphere. Customer service was very good and friendly, would highly recommend to all.
Cons: Nothing.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The entrance to the property is lovely, and the Victorian Spa (extra charge) was good
Cons: Completely mis-advertised - tiny double bed (not extra large as in description), windows completely obstructed by a metal roof, all but one restaurant closed, absolutely zero useful information given at check in apart from a greyscale A4 printed map, spa facilities are charged extra (not stated on B.com), inedible dinner had to be sent back, breakfast was very poor Beware when booking the dinner room rate, we were charged in full for dinner despite having a £50 credit as per our booking, the waiter insisted that this was the "crazy system" and we would be refunded the £50 at check out. Lo and behold at check out the staff were completely bemused, and said the restaurant manager would call us asap to refund. One week later and still waiting...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff were helpful and friendly
Cons: Evening entertainment for adults only would have been great
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The spa was brilliant and not too many people in at the same time due to booking a slot.
Cons: It’s a really busy hotel, slightly confusing layout, once you find your bearings it’s alright. Everything needs to be booked in advance so it was all a bit too organised for a relaxing weekend. Some of the staff we lacking general customer skills, such as saying please and thank you, or even asking if everything was alright with our meals, felt a bit rushed so they could get the next batch of people in. We ate in the Meikle restaurant, steaks were overpriced for what they were.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was lovely piccolo piazza
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Double room was fantastic. Estate itself brilliant for a break. Views glorious
Cons: Single room wasn’t great. Clean and comfortable but basic. Seemed to be a few conference / conventions going on which good for busy but felt it got a bit noisy and certain areas not open to public because consigned to these businesses

7.5 Good
Pros: the room was very nice, and the bed very comfortable with variety of pillows.
Cons: No sign of any staff in the morning to ask about coffee, laid out was an extremely basic breakfast which was fine for me, but a decent coffee would have made all the difference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An ordinary but well presented exterior belied a truly beautiful interior with plush rooms and lovely dining area. Very comfy bed in a huge well decorated and maintained room.
Cons: No shower curtain or raised shower head made showering a little awkward for someone taller.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Travelled here for a wedding and stayed 2 nights, Maxine was very welcoming and made our stay a pleasure, we stayed in Victoria suite and were amazed by the standard of the room. Will definitely return to stay again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great room and space.
Cons: Breakfast was continental but could have had more choice and variety. Supplies were low on cereals and not enough to go round.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was great, right in the centre of Crieff and easy to get to other things in the town. Room was luxurious, plenty of space, lovely large bed and bath!
Cons: Breakfast was completely lacking in substance, we were the earliest to arrive so we were able to get what we wanted, but many people joined after us and there was not enough breakfast for the amount of guests. For example there were only 5 yoghurts for around12 guests!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was basic continental breakfast, which was fine. I would have liked a trash can so I could have cleaned up a bit of my own breakfast mess, but, no worries
Cons: That we didn't plan to stay longer.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and clean staff very friendly and accommodating
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old building ,really comfy bed ,cosy and great value
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was extremely disappointing. We had a very comfortable night although the absence of an ensuit was something of a surprise in this day and age although this had been flagged up when we booked. However, our whole experience was marred by an extremely disappointing breakfast .......we came down to an uncleared and rather dirty communal breakfast table and a very poor breakfast selection consisting of brown or white sliced bread (tubs of butter and jam), a hot water urn and coffee granules in a slightly damp jar. Bed but hardly breakfast!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely big bed Style of room
Cons: Shared bathroom

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and tasty supper
Cons: Expensive
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Liked the traditional atmosphere. Bar and library areas had a lot of character. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Some areas of the hotel were in need of an upgrade- EG: curtains had holes in them, bath was chipped and corridor carpets were very badly stained in places.
7.5 Good
Pros: welcome from staff and overall facilities were wonderful
Cons: no hot vegetarian option on the breakfast menu.
7.1 Good
Pros: A real country house feel
Cons: Thought it was expensive at £178 for a double room
7.5 Good
Pros: The Royal is a lovely hotel in a great location, my husband I were staying at the hotel for a family wedding at Comrie Croft, location was great, staff brilliant, our queries where responded to very efficiently.
Cons: downside, some parts of the hotel are looking a little tired, the downstairs disabled toilet seat was a disgrace, all the underside of the seat was blistered, a replacement seat would go along way to improving the loo as this appears to be the only toilet for restaurant guests providing guests with a good overall experience is essential in today's market. Some carpets especially those leading up to the bedrooms where dirty, appreciate that guests can come in with muddy boots, but again it is the attention to detail, over the weekend their where times when the reception desk was left unattended for significant periods of times, disappointing when you have a query that you are trying to get addressed.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The breakfasts were excellent, both food and service.
Cons: We were upgraded to a so-called 4-poster room. This was at the top of the hotel, up four flights of stairs, and there was NO LIFT. We were not asked if that would suit us. It was at the front of the building, so there was a lot of noise from bar-leavers until the early hours. The stair carpet was very badly stained and threadbare in places. There was NO FRIDGE in the room. The only hotel information in the room was the wifi code. There were no handles around the bath. So, the shower in the bath was hazardous to get into and out of. Taking a bath would have hazardous also.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and evening meals were excellent.
Cons: Only change would be the carpet on the stairs to the bedrooms, it looks quite tired.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed my visit as I was going to a wedding in Comrie Croft the staff organised a taxi for me . In all my stay was very pleasant. Many thanks
Cons: The carpets. Cream isn’t a good choice for a busy hotel
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I had a lovely stay for one night at The Royal Hotel with my dog. The staff were so friendly, very welcoming and extremely helpful, nothing was too much bother. Great place to stay with dogs , as very accommodating and very dog friendly which made my stay very relaxed ans easy with the dog. The dog could come with me to the bar lounge where they served lunch and dinner, and also kindly arranged to serve me breakfast in here so I could have the dog with me which was absolutely fantastic, as the dog wasn't allowed in the dining room but that was totally understandable and they made arrangements for me. Thank you! There was also a small garden to the back of the hotel were I could walk the dog around and was very handy. I had dinner in the bar lounge (with my dog) on the day we arrived, and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and the food was lovely. Me and the div felt very comfortable and settled very nicely! I slept well and everything in the room was great. The breakfast was a highlight and was excellent. We were leaving early to climb Ben Chonzie and very kindly offered to serve breakfast a little earlier for me so we could get out on the mountain nice and early as I had intended. I really enjoyed our morning, the breakfast was delicious- lovely fresh produce nicely cooked and perfect to set me up for my day- with a lovely pot of coffee and everything I could need. Thank you for a lovely stay! :) I shall be back again soon hopefully.

Pros: Dinner was excellent - fresh and flavourful. Breakfast porridge came with a small pot of whiskey - what’s not to like?
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Chalet was perfect for our requirements. Bed was huge. Hotel were very accommodating for our 16 month old too. Staff super friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Lovely stay, thank you!
Cons: Chalets slightly dated but clean so no complaints
5.0 Okay
Pros: The view
Cons: Very overpriced hotel and the only thing that had going for it was the view
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful view from bedroom. Breakfast good and plentiful. Service excellent. Value for money because of discount through booking.com.
Cons: Hotel in need of refurbishment. Window frames in need of replacement in room 17. Mattress hard, used duvet as padding and blanket to keep chill off. Firmness of mattress is, of course, a personal choice.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had a Loch view room, and stayed for 4 nights. View was amazing, we saw a rainbow 3 out of 4 days we were there, right from our window. There was a drawing/living room downstairs, where hotel guests gathered in the evenings. Thanks to the owner and staff, everyone was relaxed and chatty. My little 2 year old was especially taken with the friendly staff, guests, and dogs, he did everything he could to stop us from leaving and brawled his eyes out when we left. Special thanks to Susan, who was very patient and took time to answer all our queries! we loved the tea basket in the room and the customised welcome letter. Bonus: the laundry services were wonderful, great value with very short turnaround time! Our clothes never looked better!
Cons: Seemingly short staffed for Friday night dinner service. Would prefer a served breakfast instead of buffet. Wifi was very weak ( in the area)
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: location was beautiful. Breakfast was fine and adequate. Staff were friendly.
Cons: Hotel was dirty and dated and not what expected from photo's and website. Table in bar which was dirty at 7.00 pm when we had a pre-dinner drink there was still dirty at 10.30 the following morning. We had booked a Superior Twin, a Double with 4 poster bed, Classic Twin.... however the rooms which were made available were very disappointing and were definitely not superior or classic, and one room was a twin bedded chalet - our rooms were definitely supposed to all be in the hotel proper. The "classic" twin wasn't fit to stay in - the hotel did make two single room available to the ladies - but overall the standard was very poor indeed. I was disappointed to be staying in a chalet. The hotel needs a good clean - there were cobwebs and spiders in the chalet - there really is no excuse for dirty showers and windows. The shower curtain was nothing short of filthy. What was annoying too was that the lady at reception didn't admit that the rooms initially allocated were not as booked, until I checked my booking and came back down to reception (with the confirmation open on my phone) at which time I got an admission that a mistake had been made. Dirty cups were not removed or cleaned during service, and teas/milk not replenished. We did get some extra teas and milk for one of the rooms at reception on one evening, but subsequently couldn't get milk for another room and so had to divide what was allocated to the first room!!!! Very poor indeed and not a gesture of even a cup of coffee made and because of the level of service, expensive for what it turned out to be.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent location and also dog friendly
Cons: Hotel was dated and some areas not as clean as you would expect
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Great location
Cons: We had booked a room with a shower for my 90 year old mother and this had been confirmed by the hotel. When we got there they had given her a room with a bath. No one was very concerned just saying that we could go to a different hotel and there was one down the road! We stayed one night and when we were checking out the owner who had promised us the room and then given it to someone else actually hid from us. That one night showed us that the hotel is in need of a good clean and redecoration. One of the waitresses was lovely but none of the other staff were interested. The only reason the score is so high is because of the view The other hotel up the road was fantastic, same great location and view but much better customer service. They were really trying hard to create the type of hotel that their customers wanted.

Pros: Lovely family run hotel in a fantastic location overlooking Loch Earn, good standard rooms
