This is not a reflection on Hertz but Kayak - made the reservation thru Kayak for $473 - was supposed to get a confirmation from Hertz but did not - got on Hertz website to make sure I had a car reserved and it said I would need to pay $1100 at the Hertz desk. Made a new reservation thru Expedia at Alamo - received confirmation immediately.Reviewed 20 Dec. 2022

Got in the crowded line prior to my pickup time. Got to the counter 30 minutes prior to my scheduled time and went through the entire process, noticed there was an additional charge in my paperwork, asked them what it was and they then notified me that they were charging me for picking up an hour early. Got to the car and there were stains throughout and trash still in it. Showed up to the drop-off office and it was close. No instructions were given for dropping off the rental. Called every number available and no one answered. Circled around for more than 20 minutes until a neighboring hotel staff member helped us. An hour later, I received a notification from my bank that I was charged $100 by Hertz. Checked my email and there was no explanation.Reviewed 27 Jul. 2022

Agent I interacted with was rude. Car smelled like smoke. I was charged double and Hertz makes it very difficult to get ahold of someone to ask about charges. I finally found a number on the website and it kept hanging up on me. I will not be using Hertz again.Reviewed 2 Mar. 2022

I never picked up the car from Hertz. I got a call from Salem Hertz saying the Eugene West 11th was closed due to COVID and I couldn't get a car there. The closest Hertz car place was the Eugene Airport and they would not honor the price in my reservation. They wanted me to pay $55 more. I offered to pay $9 more since that is what I could rent the same size car from a different car rental place at the Eugene Airport. While the Salem office said I could cancel the reservation at no charge if I didn't want to pay the difference, apparently nobody could cancel it. I couldn't talk to a person with Kayak - I kept getting automatically transferred to Hertz. The two people I talked with at Priceline said only Hertz could cancel it. The four people I talked with at Hertz all said only Priceline could cancel it. I ended up contesting the charge with my credit card company, who agreed it was a charge I shouldn't have to pay. I ended up renting the same sized car for only $9 more from Dollar at the Eugene Airport. It's ironic - the Dollar and Hertz rental place at the Eugene Airport are the same company. It took me over two hours of talking with the different Hertz and Priceline resource - getting nowhere close to resolving this situation.Reviewed 17 Jan. 2022
