Hertz gave me a car that had a slow leak in one tire. It also lacked caps on the valves. When i returned it after two days the young man (not the boss) told me I MUST DRIVE IT ACROSS THE ISLAND, LEAVE IT WITH A REPAIR/GAS STATION --OVERNIGHT--AND PICK IT UP MYSELF NEXT DAY! Even though I had no other transportation. Unbelievable!!. I refused, eventually the boss showed up, and they gave me a much older car (30,000 miles plus), but only after the young woman--a cleaner--hearing the argument, said she knew of another car, which was ready. That second car, though a standard, not the economy size I had ordered, worked well for three weeks. The young woman should have been behind the counter, not the male youth who talked a lot but had an empty head and no perception of my problem or his real j0b. Misogyny?Reviewed 8 Aug. 2021

Pros:Nothing. Zero. First time user and "never again".Cons:Wanted (and booked) a one day rental on Martha's Vineyard, MA. Checked the pick up location; close to the ferry. Excellent. I confirmed. The confirmation now switched to Falmouth, MA, where I live. Was supposed to pick up the car on Gifford St. on the Vineyard. NOT Gifford St. in Falmouth. Can't cancel through Hertz; "gotta go through Kayak". Kayak says "no refunds or cancellations, gotta go through Hertz". Horribly run company. Never again using Kayak.Reviewed 6 Oct. 2018

Car smelled heavily of cigarette smokePros:It was easy enough the retrieve car.Cons:Car smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, like it’d been smoked in a lot more than once. There was a bottle of Fabreeze under the drivers seat. While picking up the car the attendant filled out the survey upon renting the car (asking if the car was clean etc.) for us and didn’t acknowledge the questions to US. Probably won’t rent from this Hertz location again.Reviewed 30 Oct. 2017
