My experience with Hertz was very poor. I booked the car online for what seemed like a competitive price. However on arrival Hertz told me it would cost 2x the rental price I had paid for the basic cover (250 for the rental, 500 for the insurance). This was unexpected as I asked them how could I book it without insurance? They said I must have used the American site. I wasn’t aware that I did as I’m not American. The customer service experience at the desk could have been better. The agent made us anxious about potential charges for any scratches on the car body or alloys before we even received the keys, which was unsettling. During my last rental with Drivalia UK, they never mentioned anything like this, and I didn’t feel pressured about the car’s return condition.
