Pros: Great location! Walking distance to great neighborhoods! We love to walk so we even walked up to the International Rose Test Garden then to Downtown on our first day. If you don’t want to walk that much we are close enough to other neighborhoods as well like the Pearl District and 23rd Street. Hotel is gracious to give streetcar passes to each guest on a daily bases. They even paid the postage for my postcard and mailed it off. Had free local taster brews with apps one evening. Staff were friendly. Our room was very clean and SPACIOUS. The bed was really comfy. Took advantage of the kitchen to make dinner a couple times. Fairly close to Trader Joe’s. Spent more than I usually do but really worth it. Even my more frugal husband said he would have loved to stayed here the whole vacation.

Cons: Breakfast - It's not great. The coffee is good, as are the breads/pastries and the juices and fruit are OK, albeit sparse and sometimes a little dry. However, the hot food is lame. And the paper/plastic crockery and cutlery is a bit of a farce, as is breakfast being complimentary. When I'm pay 200-250 bucks per night I expect a decent breakfast, along with proper crockery and cutlery to eat it. Rooms - No safe (Not in ours anyhow)

Cons: Downtown Portland has its challenges with homeless, but the Benson is centrally located on the old town side, with easy access to public transportation. Parking is expensive, so turned in my rental car and used the light rail to get around and save money.

Cons: The mattress....Far too soft and there was a sink hole. Yielded back ache and interrupted sleep for repositioning. Pillow top mattresses are not my preference. If you don’t mind soft mattresses then Lucia is a wonderful choice. Vent in room quite dusty and discolored. Against the rest of the room’s neatness it stood out, making the room seem less clean.

Cons: Had a real problem with billing. I fully paid for 2 nights ahead of time, but the hotel charged me for 3 nights on top of the 2 nights already paid for. So for 2 nights I've been charged for 5 nights. There is a phantom person that I need to talk to for resolution, but unable to connect. Everyone is real polite about the problem, but nobody has authority to do anything about it. I've stayed here a couple times, always something annoying and this is the worst. Last time for me, my recommendation is to stay away.

Cons: I was disappointed when I found out that the hotel charged for parking. When I booked the reservation I checked the box for parking. When I got there they had parking but it was an additional $50. it would have been nice to know that in advance. The cost of parking may have influenced me to stay elsewhere. I struggled with the question about whether or not the hotel met or exceeded my needs. I said they met my knees, but due to the cost of parking, I almost said no.

Pros: This facility doesn’t offer free breakfast or in room coffee for the price. However they do have a restaurant in the lobby and they offer free coffee downstairs. They have the coffee cups in the room that you can take down to the bar area . Just inconvenient early in the morning. The rooms size was great and the bed was very comfortable. They are really focusing on the green life style.

Cons: They messed up my reso, after paying extra for specific things, and then asked for more money to fix it. The staff just had blank faces and couldn’t do anything right to fix it or make it better. I asked for free parking to make it better, they agreed, and then only honored it for one out of three nights! Just got sick wasting my time trying to talk to them about it and gave up to not ruin my day/s. Everyone in our group (4 rooms) had complaints about their room. Smelly, humid, hot, loud and dirty was the overall impression.

Cons: They don’t fully explain there are two buildings before booking. The older building is across the street and the rooms are walk up. I don’t feel secure when the doors are open to the street where someone can walk to your door. And the new building which is named the NEXT is the NEW one and it’s priced higher. This new building the rooms are secure and you are inside the hotel. They still should offer a free breakfast and in room coffee would be nice for the price.

Cons: The price was pretty good for Portland, and it’s by in a convenient location. This is one of the loudest places I’ve ever stayed, the noise assaults you from all angles. I would only recommend staying here if you intend to party, otherwise don’t expect a good night’s sleep anytime before 3am.
