Santa Cruz motels

Cons: We stayed here 2 years ago and it seems to have gone downhill since then. The furniture was beat up, the linens soiled. It was a busy weekend in Santa Cruz and the rates were very high as well.

Cons: Two wall plus didn't work. Strong smell of cleaning products. We had to air out the room. Asked for a quiet room but room was facing pool. Maid came in without us having a chance to respond to her one knock.

Cons: Free unlimited cash stuffed in the draws, though I’ve yet to find a place like this

Cons: The jetted tub were a little outdated but it was huge!

Cons: The vending machines were broken.. The parking lot was full on a Monday night and the spaces are so small every car was double parked ( very frustrating). I especially didn't like how the hotel sat on a busy street corner. The pool area also closed very early, 9pm which seemed strange for a vacation town..

Cons: No smoking rooms or designated smoking areas.

Cons: Old, other visitors were a little sketchy but all was fine.

Cons: The pillows were too big/hard.

Cons: While it had a full kitchen there was nothing there to use for it. No pots/pans/plates/utensils/paper towel.....it was totally useless. Even if they had paper plates and bowls and plastic utensils it woulda been better. There isn't enough outlets. The kitchen was dirty...had a fine dust (sawdust?) all over. Floors were dirty. Ick! It's a very old building and it shows. I chose this place cuz it had great reviews but I don't see how after being there.

Cons: Manager named Danny was very rude. Found bodily fluid stains on the headboard and when I asked for a different room he blamed the stains on me and my wife and yelled at us to check out if we didn't like the room. Extremely unprofessional.

Cons: Noisy air conditioner, turned it off but there is no air circulation, got too hot, bed too hard, pillows too big = terrible night of no sleep

Cons: There were a few stains on the chair and bed skirt. Location was a bit farther from the boardwalk than I though but that was my lack of knowledge about Santa Cruz. Still definitely in walking distance just up a hill and around a corner a bit.

Cons: EVERYTHING. STAFF WAA RUDE, PLACE WAS THE GROSSEST.

Cons: The bathroom felt very much enclosed with no window or mirror, which detracted from the room somewhat.

Cons: There was no beach view.

Cons: The parking lot of the hotel is on a steep hill. The hotel was older, but the bathrooms had newer tile.

Cons: The pillows were flat and uncomfy.

Cons: The TV remote complicated and not user friendly. Hard to turn on and off or find right channels.

Cons: The water color art in the room was terrible, so not my style No hairdryer in the room, though I am sure I could have gotten one if I had asked. But I brought my own. No in-room coffee, so I could only get my java fix at the continental breakfast.

Cons: a little overpriced for what you received...however, it was the July 4th weekend

Cons: Because of Ironman Santa Cruz, they raised their prices to almost $200 for one night! Being that it is a little run down, dirty and lack sound insulation, there was very little value for money. At least there wasn't any bedbugs.

Cons: Everything.

Cons: The bed was not the most comfortable but the room was clean.

Cons: Nothing!

Cons: the continental breakfast is a joke. they really need to upgrade.

Cons: The hours of breakfast...perhaps could extend for late risers. The price was a bit high for what you get. Other lower budget hotels in general vacinity were similar as far as rooms & decor.

Cons: Hard beds

Cons: BATHROOM DRAINS WERE PLUGGED. THE ROOM IS OUT DATED FOR THE PRICE. MOLD IN THE BATHROOM AND THE WALLS LOOK DIRTY. THEY CHARGED A PARKING FEE OF $10. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY A PARKING FEE WHEN YOUR A PAYING GUEST OF THE HOTEL.

Cons: More seating accommodations. One bench, mostly under the hanging clothes, was inadequate. The bed was a bit too high to offer comfortable seating (fine for sleeping - just not for sitting).

Cons: The curtains were dirty and the TV didn't work but we didn't spend much time in the hotel so it didn't ruin the trip.

Cons: Unexpected fee parking , bathroom to small and late brake fast

Cons: On our second visit here, it was like staying at a completely different hotel. The room felt like it was made for one bed and another one was shoved in. Sheets were stained and the beds were way less comfortable. The shower was almost too small to properly wash and could have used a remodel. It looks like. $100 security deposit was taken out of my account, but that was never mentioned when I made the reservation, when I checked in, or when I was told the total amount.

Cons: Breakfast after 8 am.

Cons: Seemed like it was a more of a permanent residence for some guests we had to switch rooms because they were being really loud and obnoxious and there was supposed to be no smoking and they all were smoking outside our room. Seemed to be in more of a "upcoming" neighborhood. There was someone with a yappy dog that wouldn't shut up all night. You had to pay for parking per night and then there was never any parking when you got there! And best of yet the owners didn't seem to even care! i would have paid more for something better not a good deal at all.

Cons: The floors were filthy, my socks were black. The parking fees and other fees added on at time of check-in that weren't mentioned at the time of booking, I was not pleased about.

Cons: The refrigerator was so cold that our food froze, but I guess we should have checked that. I also was freezing all night since the covers on the beds aren't heavy, but didn't notice the thermostat was turned all the way down until the next morning. I guess they don't turn the heat on until a customer turns it on, which appeals to my environmentalist side!

Cons: It took 10 minutes to decide this was the wrong place. On the outside it looked super SKETCHY. The STAFF live in the space behind the lobby so upon entering you can hear them CURSING and YELLING behind the wall. They are the RUDEST people I have ever met & the UNDENIABLE SMELL OF WEED is not very masked by the in-your-face incense & the actual rooms are not much better. The FREEZING, "nonsmoking" room was drenched in the SMELL OF CIGARETTES, but this, strangely, was not the worst part. The VCR & other appliances were from the 90's or farther and played ONE CHANNEL. The walls & paint were covered in HOLES and a terrible paint job. The "white" BATHROOM WAS YELLOW and didn't even have a shower curtain. In addition the bathroom door didn't work. The pillows and sheets had holes and fuzz stuffing falling out and the neighbors seemed to be BANGING ON WALLS & doors in the 10 minutes we were there. In that short time, I never rid the feeling that the knocking was actually a hooker come to spend the night, as the room gave that whole "CHEAPEST RESORT FOR CASUAL SEX" vibe. Because they didn't have another open one bed room that we could breathe in, and we were only there for a couple minutes, we expected some sort of a refund, but instead they left us WAITING AT THE FRONT DESK FOR 15 MINUTES after walking out on us while we were explaining the situation. The young man (who was easily 12 YEARS OLD) sent in his mother to YELL AT US for not liking the room and FORCE us to either "take or leave" another room, which seemed to be just as bad. Upon leaving (as fast as possible) we passed open bins of sheets in the parking lot obviously crawling with BED BUGS. TERMITE holes littered the establishment. On the other hand, the room, comfort level, vibe, and staff definetly was consistent.

Cons: NOT WORTH IT

Cons: Bathroom window was broken and taped over, outlets broken, phone didn't work, hole in bathroom sink, shower drips, bed has sheet and worn down fleece blanket to cover up with, no screen on front window, miscellaneous cigarette burns... Sounds like a winner, right? Next time I'll spend the extra $15 and pick something a little more liveable. My last piece of advice: Listen to all of the negative reviews. You might say it can't possibly be THAT bad, it's only one night... I have seen it and can tell you that it is THAT bad.

Cons: Worst place i ever stayed at. I would not recommend this motel to friends and family. No cable they said it would be fixed next day which i was only their for 1 night, so I'm glad my spouse was with me. Room was not what i expected especially for the price we paid bathroom window had tape on window not sure if it was cracked or whatever, neighbors tv was pretty loud...

Cons: Water damage and black mold in room, abandoned mattresses in parking lot. Rude front desk help.

Cons: Rude staff, leaking windows, dirty pillows, stained carpet...need I say more?

Cons: The motel was very run down; there was no air conditioning, which is fine in Santa Cruz in general, but the windows had been shut and the room was hot. The main windows did not have screens and looked straight into the courtyard, so keeping them open limited privacy. The window at the rear of the unit was very small and it took a long time to cool down. The place was noisy.

Cons: No AC Rude staff Never answered the phone so I had to walk to front desk every time to reach them. Drug addicts walking up to your room high as a kite talking jiberrish. It smelled horrible & was basically a trash dump with trash bags thrown around everywhere.

Cons: Possibly the worst motel I have ever stayed at. No A/C, no screens on the windows,T.V. was broken, graffitti on the door, the room smelled. The whole place felt dilapidated. Neighbors flushed the toilet and burned me in the shower I will never stay there again

Cons: I called 10 times and no one answered at the desk, when I arrived the desk associates were a family watching tv taking turns trying to help me pay the $3 fee. The room was filthy, there was something frozen in the ice of the freezer that looked like an illegal substance, and there was a used latex glove sitting on the counter next to the TV just as I walked in. I will never go back to this hotel, it's a good thing I didn't have my family with me, we would have slept in my car.

Cons: The rooms succed the door looked like it had been broken into fifty times also the window woodnt close and I felt very unsafe there were only two pillows which made my night very uncomfortable the TV didn't work the room smelled like straight bleach

Cons: This was the worst experience we have ever had and we travel a lot. The lady was so rude she actually walked out to our car to make sure we weren't hiding kids or other people in it. When we told her we didn't appreciate the way she was talking to us she laughed and said get out then but good luck getting your money back. I was shocked I asked to talk to her manager and she said she was the manager. My husband said let's go to me and she actually followed us outside trying to antagonize a fight. I was really confused and couldn't understand how a business can treat people like that. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AND IT WAS OUR ANNIVERSARY

Cons: I paid over 200.00 for one night in a room that had no air conditioning, the sink leaked, staff was not friendly, and there were no amenities whatsoever. Overall cleanliness was terrible,

Cons: They had no air conditioning. The staff was rude. And the rooms looked so dirty. Showers were tiny. Guess you get what u pay for.
