Cons: Just somes changes BUT I would still stay here The hotel now does not provide bottled water. There is a sign in the bathroom that says Singapore water is safe to drink. If you want to take water with you for a walk or shopping / sightseeing - take a water bottle with you or buy it elsewhere. the policy of 2 items of complimentary laundry per day has changed and now applies only if you have made a direct booking with Quincy. There is no more complimentary beer in the room fridge. Late check out is rather brutal - 30 SGD per hour - oouch! Staying here in May so will report further then. The air-conditioning is a little loud but works very well.

Cons: There is no shower in the pool area and it means that you cannot at least have a splash of fresh water before dressing up clothes. The gym is a bit small for such a new and large hotel and indeed, the roof top garden area next to gym is seldom utilitized by hotel guest, given the hot weather in Singapore. The gym should be expanded in size.

Cons: When i make a booking via the Regent website, the hotel recognises my booking as a returning guest. However, if i book via a travel website (which i did on my last visit because the hotel website said no rooms available!) the hotel does not recognise me as a returning guest. This has an impact on our arrival greeting (and seems to also impact the room we get). You may wish to look into this matter

They tried to “convince” us about the availability of room we have ordered, and then tried to send us to a separate building which was a two-minute walk from the hotel.
Finally we got a run-down room, with worn carpets, not clean with mold and stains in the shower.

Cons: Room didn't have a great view given the awkward angle of the window placement. Very little natural light to an otherwise beautiful "standard" room.
The hotel "bar" in the basement is a hooker lounge full-stop. We've all seen the upscale hotel bars with a few working girls here and there but this is on another level where as if an NYC swish bar met the Bangkok red light district... If you're just going for a casual drink with a lady friend or colleague who is not looking for this, it's going to be awkward.... hard to believe a global brand like Hyatt is so closely associated... (but you can believe it brings great biz to Hyatt so they turn the other way.

It must have been the inconsiderate attitude of the hotel guests who prefer throwing rubbish in the walkway rather than leaving it behind in their rooms for the houskeeping to clear.

I had asked for an iPhone charger as I had forgot - they had asked me to deposit the phone as their policy is not to give it to the room but they will have one charger that is used to charge everyone. So deposit the phone and collect it when done.

Cons: We only had two items that weren’t so hot. First, as everyone else says, the rooms are TINY. How small is tiny? Perhaps 10 ft x 10 ft with a Queen bed in the middle. Tiny. Two slender people cannot pass each other without touching, possibly cannot pass each other at all if you’re carrying any weight. TINY. That said, the bathroom feels luxuriously large by comparison! The second negative was that any hote so big and so full will naturally have a lot of people moving around at any given time. That means the lobby is always full, the elevators are always full, the dining room is always full...definitely worth eating at non-standard hours to avoid the rush.

Cons: We booked for 3 people. There was not 3 of everything in the room. The room was so small, and there was nowhere to sit except the bed - and if you sat on the end of the bed it was difficult to walk past you. We had to juggle around each other the whole time. Not enough room to put our luggage. Not enough room to comfortably stand at the wash basin. The bathroom design meant we had to put the bath mat outside the bathroom to stop it getting wet by the shower. This meant no-one call walk past without stepping on the bathmat. There was a smell of urine in the room.

All in all I would never refer anyone to this or any Mandarin property.

Cons: 1. Badly-managed ground floor reception and registration. We arrived at the ground floor lobby and lined up with a number of other people. Only to be told by the young executive who finally served us -- rudely & impatiently -- that this registration counter was only for corporate bookings and we should go up to the 5th floor for all other bookings. If you intend to segregate and discriminate bookings, then perhaps some clear signage and wayfinding would help?
Perhaps recognising that he had been rather rude, the young man then said he would register us anyway. He couldn't find our booking, asked to see the confirmation email, and then couldn't seem to wait the one minute it took me to call it up on my phone.
2. Poor manners at the 5th floor reception
We came back at 1.30 pm and went straight up to the 5th floor reception, as instructed, to collect our keys. Chaos as there were many waiting to check-in. I lined up at what I thought was the concierge counter to ask what I needed to do if I was simply looking to collect keys rather than do a full check-in, and was barked at by another impatient man at the [unlabelled] counter to the side of me.
Thank goodness for an older gentleman, Mr Suhaimi, who stepped forward to answer my simple question, promptly issued the keys, and assured us that our bags would be in our room, which it was. Kudos to Mr Suhaimi for being so well-mannered in a sea of rude Mandarin employees.
3. Went to our room. The shower cubicle had ugly black electrical tape all around the bottom, presumably to stop some sort of leak. Cheap toiletries. Old, tired fittings that haven't been updated since the late 1990s. Flat, overused pillows.
4. Breakfast the next morning at Chatterbox was dismal. Overcooked noodles, cheap butter, tasteless eggs. And a very small selection of food items that couldn't be called a buffet.
5. Rude service again at check-out, even though we had nothing to pay for and it was a straightforward sign-out. Doesn't anyone ever smile at this hotel?
All in all, not worth the price, and certainly not worth our patronage.
Don't bother with the Mandarin Orchard, it's way past its prime. There are many other hotels in SG that welcome you with a smile, maintain a good environment and charge you far less.

Cons: The front desk staff had an arrogant attitude. I saw one staff treat another guest rudely; then when I tried to get a longer check-out time, I was treated like a school child being scolded. Terrible!

Cons: My room was on the ground floor with large full wall windows. What I didn’t realise until the morning was that the windows were on to a public space that anyone could walk past and peer at me in bed! Very uncomfortable and embarrassing.

Cons: I requested late checkout to 2 pm and they wanted about $20 per hour after 12 pm. I had stayed at various hotels and there were never a charge. We left by 12.

Pros: Breakfast was amazing and very good value for what was on offer, which was a great combination of Western and Asian food options. The staff at breakfast were very friendly, clean and efficient and the food was very good quality. The hotel is very close to many attractions. I prefer to walk everywhere and you could reach the Orchard Rd shops, Fort Canning Park and the Marina within 5-30 minutes. The Newton Food Centre (hawker market) was also an easy 15 min walk away and was a late night life saver after travelling for 10 hours on my first night. The pool was excellent if not well-attended by guests. This meant that it did not really have any atmosphere. But this is not really something that the Hotel could improve on (other than providing poolside bar, food facilities).

Pros: This is the 4th time we have stayed at the York hotel when overnighting in Singapore. The location just off Orchard Road is really convenient for shopping, eating out and catching the MRT to explore all over from the station that's within walking distance. Bonus is the value for money price and cleanliness of the hotel. It's not a luxury treat but its location and price works for us!

Cons: Bathroom has mould everywhere especially shower - along the entire floor perimeter and all wall joints. Vanity tap base has dirty along the entire base. Bed sheet has stain - only changed upon repeated request. Phone handle sticky and dusty. Slipper thin as paper and was broken the next day of our stay but did not get replaced for rest of the 3 days stay. Door lock could NOT be locked properly. It could only be locked manually upon pushing very hard otherwise it left unlocked and everyone can just push open the door from both inside and outside. Requested to get fixed but still not fixed after our 3 day's stay.
