Pros: The room was great, clean, spacey, ant the view of the Mountains through the wall of windows was breathtaking. The bathroom was large and clean. Diner on the 4th floor was very good. Every person I met was very nice from the valet to the front desk, With that complimentary glass of champagne. It was a wonderful trip except we woke up to snow showers.

Cons: My only complaint was the lighting in the room. It was too dark and there were no reading lights by the bed. The lighting behind the beds was not good for reading. Also the bathroom light was bright but not so good for applying makeup.

Cons: The location of our room.I would never stay in room 215 again. Room itself was very nice, but all the views were of the alley and the bedroom window was right over the dumpsters. At 2:30 in the morning all we heard was staff throwing out trash and bottles. That same area is also the staffs smoke break area. We could hear their conversations all night.

Cons: It’s a fairly small, basic room for the price. I have stayed in Asheville several times but think this is a bit pricey for what it is. At this price they still charge for non valet parking and with nothing included to bottled water, I think it’s a bit steep.

Cons: Sent my clothes out to get pressed on Tues evening11/5 at about 6pm, promised to be completed and returned by 11/6 end of day. I went to front desk at 10pm on 11/6, my clothes were still in a bag waiting to go out. Not good! Those were my clothes needed for a meeting the next morning. So I ironed them myself. No big deal but I was depending on a service promised that not only failed, but I had to ask where my clothes were. What would have happened if I didn't manage it on my end and ask? :(

Cons: The chemicals/scents used in cleaning supplies and/or air fresheners were very strong entering the hotel and in the hallways which completely overwhelmed my allergies. Our room view and noise level was dominated by Interstate 240 which runs beside the hotel. The shower water pressure was virtually non-existent for such a large, lovely shower.

A huge challenge for my wife and I , both 70 years old, I was recently recovering some hip replacement surgery and my wife has chronic back pain. Basically very disappointing since this was our 50th anniversary trip to Asheville and the Biltmore.

Obviously we have a dog so I don’t have allergies to them but each time we went to the room I started wheezing and has congestion and sneezing. Has to use a rescue inhaler and take meds and nasal spray. I believe the staff is not doing a thorough cleaning and the dander from so many pets over time has built up and causing an issue.

Cons: There was a problem with the water line and the hotel did not notify us. Left a charger in the room after we checked out. Left 2 messages with house keeping and did not get a call back. Called the manager and left a message. No call back. Called again on the 3rd day and spoke with house keeping. They are looking into it. No call back. Just really bad customer service.

Cons: It was dated and very frumpy. The room itself had the appearance of an afterthought, where they put leftover furniture that they weren’t sure what else to do with. There were power strips to compensate for the lack of outlets and, worst of all, the room they gave us was adjacent to the elevator shaft so EVERY TIME someone rode the ONLY elevator in the building, we heard it. It kept me up the whole first night we were there. They charged us $500 for two nights, which made the sting of the mediocrity of the stay even more sharp. This is a stay that I would have felt less disgusted by if they charged us for what they provided, but this was nothing more than a gouge. We did decide that even though almost everything else was less than good, the bed was comfortable, and they did provide complimentary ear plugs.

Pros: The staff at check-in/out were wonderful! They gave me a military discount at check-in. They also were wonderful when we checked out, 5 minutes later...
Cons: As we pulled up to the hotel, we were very dismayed to see that all the doors open to the outside. The lobby and main elevator are very old and not inviting, though the staff was wonderful. As we rode the wheezy single elevator up to the 4th floor, my friend stared at each other with wide eyes, thinking "what did we get ourselves into?". When the elevator opened, the wallpaper on the wall was ripped off in big swaths. We had to walk outside down to our room at the very end. The outside stairs blocked the window, and the metal was disintegrating on on of the supports. The room was clean but very dark. Basically, our "Spidey-senses" were tingling and we did not feel comfortable at all. The location is great in that it's one block off the funky downtown, but it's also one block from the bus station: Cue the crazy homeless people outside the door (4 floors down) screaming at each other that they were going to kill each other! That's when we grabbed our suitcases and went right back downstairs. The staff understood our unease and cleared it with the manager that we could check right back out without penalty. Note: we had read the reviews beforehand and didn't have unrealistically high expectations, but we never thought we would feel unsafe. I hate to write this since the staff was wonderful, but this was our experience.
