I never received any kind of receipt for my return as they said they would email me. I never got that either and had to go online to get my receipt. I was overcharged by $1000! I called Avis customer service but no one could help me because it was an international rental. I plan to stop payment with my credit card company on this.Reviewed 30 Sep 2026

The pickup was a real disaster. Made us miss a $120 reservation at the Colesseum as we waited 2 hours after our 11am reservation for our car under scorching heat. Not recommending Avis for anyone.Reviewed 11 Sep 2026

They gave me the wrong car and forced me to pay for an upgrade when I should've had a gas car from the beginning, not an electric car. They also had me sign the wrong rental contract designed for another person!Reviewed 11 May 2026

The price I received was $428 with full coverage/ insurance. When I arrived at airport avis desk, she insisted that it was not included full insurance and I was forced to pay around $1000 !Reviewed 23 Oct 2024

The attendant at Rome airport insisted that I purchase extra coverage which more than doubled the cost of the rental. I was quoted $1300 and the cost was over $2600. We asked how we can lower the cost and only purchase what was required and she said the $2600 was the lowest prices in order to cover the mandatory charges. When we dropped off in Bari the attendant said that we did not have to purchase many of the things we were charged for. We did not sign the receipt at drop off and he told us to dispute the charges.Reviewed 17 Aug 2024
