Upcharged to a wild degree for tolls and didn’t make it clear at all. As someone from out of town who is not used to Chicago toll roads, they made it almost impossible to avoid being charged way too much. Added on close to $100 to our bill for maybe $5 worth of tolls. Insane. The car also smelled a little like smoke and had a number of scratches and scuffs. The rental checkout and return area was a small, seedy kiosk inside the parking garage instead of at the desk with the other more well-known brands. I would not rent from this company again—despite the lower price, they’ll find a way to charge you extra anyway. At least they didn’t try to scam us out of any money for the scuffs and scratches that were already there, so that’s something.Reviewed 15 Jun. 2023

Pros:The staff in the lot at pickup was friendly and helpful in figuring out the confusion from the mistake a the counter. The staff at drop off was friendly and helpful. Both of these staff were Hertz employees as they were handling the car pickup and dropoff.Cons:The counter staff assigned the same car to me as to someone else. There was confusion as to who was supposed to be in the car. The counter staff added insurance that I did not want to the charges. They did not ask me; I never take the insurance. When I questioned the higher amount, she said it was due to a deposit that would be returned to me. When I called customer service to address the situation, "William" told me that there was nothing he could do to help and I would need to follow some 10 step process on a web site to submit a complaint. We normally rent from Hertz. I will never us Dollar again.Reviewed 21 May 2021

Pros:Hard to find the car. Was parked in a lot marked with another agency. No instruction at all on the basics of the car. Never told how to operate the plate pass. Pros:Someone from Hertz helped us, thank God.Cons:Dollar closed at 5pm our flight landed at 6pm. There was NO ONE there to help us- the counter and in the garage were empty. This was an hour and a half fiasco. Fortunately someone at Hertz helped us. The SUV we rented wasn’t available, so we got a minivan that had been smoked in. It smelled awful! Pros:I didn't like anything.Cons:I rented from the Dollar location at Midway airport. The Hispanic flamboyant manager on duty was extremely condescending and has a major anger management issue. Even though I PREPAID for the vehicle, I was told they were going to put a $200 hold on my credit (not debit) card. He then went on to say he couldn't override the policy (which I never asked him to) and that all rental car places do this. No they don't. I travel often to different cities all over the US. and only certain car rental places will impose a $200 or $400 (LAX) deposit. This man starts trying to over talk me so I said "I'm not going to argue with you." and left. Then when it's time for me to turn the car in, I'm standing outside waiting for the Hertz agent to close out the reservation for 15 mins while this lady intentionally skips my vehicle and then later admits it. Next thing I know here comes Mr. Flamboyant Manager charging at me and flailing his arms while he yells that I can get my receipt at the Dollar counter, once again not listening to anything I was saying or needing and actually lowered his fask mask to yell at me that he was calling airport security. Fire this loose canon and rethink your rental procedure.Reviewed 5 Jul. 2020
