The car had a dead battery one day around 7pm at the National park in Maui and the emergency contact number provided in the receipt didn’t work. Called multiple times no body answered the phone. We had to call 911 to get contact with the park ranger and get a local towing company to start the car. It’s freezing out there in the park that night. The towing guy didn’t bring the correct tools and couldn’t jumpstart the car. Eventually a park ranger arrived and jumpstarted the car. We got back from the park until midnight. We got charged by the towing company for more than $700. So far we haven’t got an answer from Dollar to refund the cost. We bought Dollar’s insurance.Reviewed 31 Mar. 2023

Same game, different attempts to upsell or sneak in fees that are uneccesary. Agent was less than honest about what was actually required, I knew the rules and declined. They still added some additional options that I did not ask for and tried to get me out the door before I noticed. The whole thing about having the credit card used to make the reservation in hand at pickup was a real hassle. The credit card we used had been compromised long before we made the pickup, so we had to have a whole new contract, it took about 45 mins, which is ridiculous!!Reviewed 24 Feb. 2023

Picking up car in MAUI ON A SATURDAY at 11:45 am. Was awful it was 45 minutes in line to get a car , and the line was longer when I left to get the car. Than when I went to check it out they had only one person to check you out. 1st there wasn’t the car we were promised available. 2nd we we were told that there were several cars to choose from. There weren’t. 3rd we were directed to the Dollar car lot but the Hertz lot instead. 4th we only had one vehicle to choose from. 5th when we first started the car, the air conditioner blew out air that smelled like body oder. We had to drive with the windows open until the smell went away. The car was great on gas and rode smoothly during the week though. However, when we left at the end of the week, I accidentally left my Garmon under the passenger seat. I tried to contact you by phone but all I got was passed from one voice mail to another. I finally contacted Hertz website to report the loss. Of course, my Garmon has not been found, disappointing.Reviewed 20 Jul. 2022
