My experience with dollar was horrible. When I got there I wait 1 hour in line then when I got to the desk they told my the car I rented wasn’t there. I would have to wait 2-3 hours for the car and if I wanted a different car it would be $75 a day. The person at the desk was smiling and laughing and the manager refused to talk to me. They finally gave me a van for an extra $10 a day which was more than I was supposed to pay but they refused to let me leave with a vehicle otherwise. Then they van broke down immediately leaving the parking lot. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced.Reviewed 18 Jul. 2023

We reserved a full size vehicle for our quick trip down to W Palm Beach. When we arrived, there were two customer service reps, one of which was running from his station to the other trying to appease both customers. Four more customers were in line and each one was told "we have no cars available" and "the wait time was going to be two hours". By the time we were helped at the service counter, same story, no car...but, we can upgrade you. We HAD to have a car because we had a time commitment upon arrival so we took the upgrade - went from a Malibu (or like kind) to a Ford Escape (smallest SUV on the lot). Next thing I know, $114.30 upgrade charge later, we drive out of the lot. Totally unacceptable - we reserve a car, you expect to get a car upon arrival. If there is nothing available in our reservation category, then give us a free upgrade to the small SUV. What was a $70 reservation for two days turned into $184 and the vehicle was at best, the same size, maybe smaller than what was ordered. Never again dollar, never again.Reviewed 26 Jun. 2023

We made a reservation months ago, but when we went to pick up the car, they told us there was a 1-2 hour wait until they’d have a car ready for us. We had been lucky to have on-time flights, but then ended up with a two-hour “delay” because of the car rental! :( Staff was friendly, car was good, and drop-off experience was quick and easy, so it wasn’t ALL bad, but not a great start! The rep at pick-up also tried to upswell big time with the $75 gas tank and told us we may not be able to get gas near by because places have been running out lately (spoiler alert: we filled up around the corner without a problem). I made a reservation in October of 2022. When I got to the Dollar Car Rental location they had my reservation but no available car. I was told to go sit on the bench outside with the other people who were also waiting for cars. No one came out to speak with any of us. After 2 hours I went back in asking for an update. This was easily the worst car rental experience of my life. Our flight was delayed and before we left I had called Dollar to make sure the rental center would be open. I was told by the agent that they were open 24 hrs. We arrived at West Palm Beach airport just after 1am and when we got to the counter there was a sign that said "temporarily closed" and to take the shuttle to the pick up location. No shuttle came so we took a taxi. We got there and was told by security that they were closed and to come back in the morning. So we had to take a 40 minute, hundred dollar plus Uber to our place and then had to come back the next day. I called and spoke to an agent to make sure my car was ready and she told me that they hold the reservation for 48 hours. So I had to come back 40 minutes to airport to pick up. When I got to the counter, I was told no car was avaiable and it would be two hours. I asked how this was possible when I was supposed to have a car the day before and it was prepaid. Anyways, it was well over three hours before I got my car. There were numerous other customers in the same predicament. I was quite upset at losing a half day of vacation and two expensive trips back and forth. The people working at the counters couldn't have cared less.
