We had a confirmed reservation #K49900528F4. Our flight from SFO landed in DSM at 8pm and we got the counter and it was closed. What kind of reputable company closes the airport counter at 6pm???? There was no way for us to pick up the keys. No alternatives and there was no prior alerts or updates that this was going to happen. We were to travel to Iowa City that night and ended up taking a Uber that cost us 170$+tip since we had no option inspite of a confirmed reservation. All the other car rental places were open in the airport and they did not have any cars either. They also emphasized that Hertz DSM was the only company that closes at 6pm each day. The Herrtz representative took care of us when we picked up the vehicle. She upgraded us to an all wheel drive vehicle when she realized that we would be driving in a snow storm. No prompting from myself, she just offered the upgrade for no additional cost. The vehicle was very clean and suited our needs perfectly.Reviewed 18 Jan. 2022

Office Staff were great. But no one to tell of imperfections of car. There was a loose floorboard that caught my shoe which caused a fall as I was getting out. Previous smoker in car left a broken cigarette in the seat. Ding in the windshield. No one around to tell these details.Reviewed 14 Oct. 2021

The employee who served us had not been adequately trained. He seemed to struggle with basic processes and displayed very limited interpersonal skills. When I came back later with my sister to add her as a driver, he said he didn’t know how to do that and we’d have to wait for the manager to come back (fortunately just a couple of minutes). Additionally, the Hertz counter in Des Moines closes at 5:30 p.m., inconvenient for the many passengers arriving on later flights.Reviewed 13 Sep. 2021
