The drop-off was fine. The Pick Up was extremely disappointing. We arrived at Reagan National and went to pick up our Hertz rental car. Once at the counter the representative (she was very professional) informed me there would be a 90 minute wait time to get our car. I explained to her that we arrived "on time" and also spoke to her manager - explaining that we flew in that morning because our daughter in law was having her baby that same morning and could they please see if these special circumstances would help facilitate our getting a car - they were both very polite but flatly said no, they could and would not. We had to wait.. So...After 45 minutes I spoke to the people who provided the keys to your customers at the Hertz pick up spot and explained our dilemma. They were quite empathetic and helped us immediately in obtaining a car after that. I feel your team at the counter could have tried harder to help us out when I explained our dilemma. Again they were very professional, just unwilling to be of assistance when we had to get to the hospital ASAP. The bottom line to Hertz is... Will we use Hertz again when we return to the DC area next month? Probably not due to the experience we just had.Reviewed 1 Feb. 2024

Staff not friendly or very helpful. No directions as to where car was or what car was reserved for my family. I was told to go to zone 2 at Reagan National airport only to have no one around and after finally finding someone I was told zone shut down and go back to office for help. The pickup was really subpar. We had reserved a full size vehicle. When we arrived, they told us to go ahead and pick any vehicle off the back wall cause those were full size sedans. When we got there, there were only two vehicles and they were both compact SUV’s. When we asked a worker , he responded, you can pick anything off this wall, when we reiterated that there were no full size vehicles here, he became agitated and said this is all you get and turned around and walked away. I questioned why he was upset with us and what the issue was but he ignored us and kept walking. After waiting a bit one full size sedan was brought to the lone. We got in the car and unfortunately for us it smelled like smoke. I am not a smoker so not a fan. But we were stuck with this as it was only sedan. In checking out the vehicle in front of us had a problem with the scan. We were stuck for fifteen. Minutes at least (it was 15 from when we started timing). We asked staff if they can maybe move that vehicle forward to get the long line behind moving and one staff member said they would but then a second one can by and said we just had to wait for problem to be fixed. The car was good other than the smoke smell and drop off was good. I have never used Hertz before (always have done Enterprise, Avis or Alamo). Not sure I will use Hertz againReviewed 19 Oct. 2021

Pros:The car was nice.Cons:The lady who took us to our car gave us the wrong car - a car that was unclean and wasn't the car we signed up for. When we told her, she gave us a lot of attitude and said we could take the car and walked away. It was weird. We felt really uncomfortable.Reviewed 28 May 2021

Pros:They car was nice and the drop off was easy. The staff at the pick-up was moderately nice, but they had more people working to check in Dollar and Thrifty customers than Hertz customers, even thoughCons:They charged me an additional $400 dollars over the price that I prepaid through Kayak (via Priceline) when I picked up the car, even though I had called their customer service to confirm that I had paid the full price and that there wouldn't any additional charge when I picked up the car. They lied to me when I still had the chance to cancel. When I was at the counter and had no option to cancel (it was too late to make different plans), told me that it's not their fault and that it's normal to charge more over the prepaid price. My $711 car rental turned into over $1100!! They know they are scamming people, and their only response is that you should have known better.Reviewed 19 Apr. 2021
