Hertz did not honor the rental reservation and then when I called the main customer service line they lied to me and told me another location would honor it so I relied on that information and wasted time only for them to fail to honor it again.Reviewed 18 May 2023

The car was dirty inside. Dirt and crumbs on floor mats, trunk, all over middle center council and on steering wheel. It didn’t look like it was cleaned at all. Finger prints on steering wheel and screen. Car had a slight smell of cigarettes. The guy at pick up spot was nice and curteous, asked me if I wanted him to vacuum the floor.. but I didn’t have time for that. Plus it wasn’t just the floor to be cleaned. The car should have been cleaned before I got the car. I have pictures if needed.Reviewed 9 May 2023

Friendly staff at rentals counter. Lot attendants were disorganized and driving erratically when bringing vehicles to waiting customers (i.e. peeling out, speeding and unsafe stops near customers). Booked a compact car and was given an Acura TSX that wreaked like pot/cigarettes and looked like it had been through some pretty sketchy previous rentals. Car was riddled with dents, scratches and has extremely bald and dry rotted tires. This car should not be on the road. Overall, I got what I paid for and was able to get home after missing my connection.Reviewed 8 May 2023

The car wasn't ready for me although I had a reservation. (There were 5+ other parties waiting for their cars too!) Also, I bought an EZPass because they said it would work on the license plate, but it didn't! I still had to pay tolls! So frustrating! I won't use Hertz again!Reviewed 7 May 2023

Hertz was informed by me mid day that our train had hit a child and killed them in Kannapolis NC. We were 4 hours late because of this and they closed as we arrived and we did not get a car from them. The car was reserved with Dollar rent Car which is handled by Hertz but not at the Train Station only at the airport so no car the next day either. We have disputed the charge on our credit card and we will see what happens. The woman on the phone on the day of the reservation was one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. We will avoid Hertz in the future. I guess good help is hard to find and they are living proof of that.Reviewed 5 May 2023

Car I reserved was not the vehicle available. Car I rented ended up being much smaller. Vehicle also was obviously smoked in. Even turning on the vents blew stale cigarette smell at us. Vehicle was quite dirty and not in a satisfactory condition to be rented out. This was never supposed to be our rental and the branch manager was very apologetic about it. To clean the vehicle to a higher standard would have taken much too long. It really needed to be deep cleaned and hooked up to an ozone machine to remove the smell. 11 hours of driving and to say we were nauseated would be an understatement.Reviewed 4 Apr. 2023

I’d made a reservation well in advance, but a few hours before I was scheduled to pick up the car, I got a text saying that there weren’t any cars and I could opt into a waiting list or cancel my reservation. I called Hertz to see if they’d switch the reservation to the airport, where there were many cars available. They refused to do so at the price we’d agreed. They wanted to increase the price by 125%. When I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak to, the representative hung up. In the end, I had to buy an Amtrak ticket last minute, at great expense. The lesson from this story: don’t use Hertz, perhaps try to pay in advance, or just stay home.Reviewed 3 Apr. 2023
