Great car but Poor customer service
Pros: The car ran well- nice and clean.
Cons: We couldn't find the ez pass so tried calling for help. After 30 minutes of getting shuffled from one person to another we hung up as no one could tell us where to find it. Also, we declined the insurance but were charged for it anyway. I'm sure an honest mistake but one that cost us an extra $30.99 for a three hour rental.

Car was fine -- Avis staff were abysmal.
Pros: The car was fine.
Cons: Avis staff were rude, uncommunicative and unhelpful. Very long wait to pickup car, no explanation, lots of chaos and confusion. Staff were fighting with each other and ignoring customers. Total lack of accountability or basic customer service.

Cons: Only the pickup location had an unfriendly staff, not concerned about what was reserved as far as trunk space and not accommodating ! Fortunately my visitors brought small suitcase and we had to place one of them into the back seat. Please ensure trunk space advertised matches the car, if not, free upgrades should be provided instead of doubling prices!!! That was very rude. Everything else was excellent!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: Car had a fowl odor. Car had 1/8 of a tank of fuel Paid for full size and received a mid-size, which I'm taking up with Avis. Attendants were dismissive when I picked up the car to raise these issues

Cons: The staff at the pick up and drop off were incompetent and unhelpful. Our trip was severely delayed because of their incompetence. They could not retrieve a vehicle that functioned properly. Afterwards. we left an item in the vehicle on accident and the attendants were extremely rude and unhelpful.

Great car / slow service
Pros: The car was great. I had no problems with the vehicle.
Cons: Service picking up and dropping off the car was slow.

Cons: The attendant at the kiosk was a little chatty with the people ahead of us in the line. So it felt like we waited in that line longer than usual. Additionally, the driver's door was dented so we had to wait in another line to find out how to deal with it. Once that was sorted, it was a breeze and returning the car was very fast

Cons: There was an enormous line and three visible staff members doing nothing while customers waiting. They were just talking amongst themselves about personal things - in plain view of customers - while just one person checked people in. It was absurd.

Great car, awful service
Pros: The car was great - great value for what I paid.
Cons: The service at this location was abysmal. Cops were called because a customer has "lost" a car. No one was helpful in getting the car OR returning. It took me an hour to pick up car and an hour to return. There was only one person at the counter the entire time. Good value but you get what you paid for with service.

Pros: The service at the Budget Rental Office downtown Wash, D.C. was exceptionally friendly. The car, a brand new Ford Edge was terrific. Want to buy one! One of the best rental car experiences I've had.
Cons: Liked the whole experience a lot.

DCA Avis Rental Counter - Comically Poor Service
Cons: Your folks working at the counter at DCA hopefully aren't actually getting paid for that "work". I watched the woman helping me clean her glasses for 10 minutes while she had a conversation with the customer being helped next to me, about how women at the Washington Nationals games no longer wear panties. I quite literally started laughing at how awful, incompetant, lazy, and rude your service was. It by itself ruined my day and ensured Avis will never recieve another dollar from me. Further, in the DCA garage, I was yelled at for being confused as to why the garage floor indicactes one parking spot number, while the small tags that hang above the same spaces indicate another. Obviously its the customer's fault for not realizing that, as was pointed out to me. There was also a huge dead mosquito in the back of my Mazda 6 which was great. Avis - suggest you change your motto to Lazy and Incompetant so people have a better idea of what to expect. Thanks!

Disrupt this market pls
Pros: The car was new and clean. All sales associates were kind and understanding
Cons: Dear god, can someone disrupt this antiquated market of rental car companies? They rented us a car not knowing if there would be enough cars and though the office peeps were very helpful, AVIS company policies have backed them into a corner. We waited for our car for over an hour and watched our rental specialists spend most of that time idle as well. There are no options to switch locations, there is little communication about what is going on, and the documents are still printed slowly on dot matrix printers. Why can't we have an ap for this?

Big delay in getting car
Pros: Car we finally ended up with was fine. Manager tried to be helpful when we spoke with him.
Cons: Union Station DC location is very hectic. Desk workers were unfriendly and unhelpful. Had to wait a very long time for our car. First car we were given reeked of cigarette smoke and had ashes on the console; clearly had not been cleaned.

Pros: I appreciated the professionalism and politeness of all the employees I encountered with AVIS. My rental was not at the location I had expected, most likely on oversight on my part. And while the counter employees were not able to help much, they were polite and apologetic. I called the AVIS call center later that evening and the employee work with me to find a rental location close to my lodging, and a great rate. He went above and beyond to search for good rates and coupons. When I went to pick up the car, they location did not have the car size I had reserved. The AVIS employee was able to rent me an upgraded car with out any extra fees. When I went to return the car, they allowed me to return the car to the airport location without paying any extra fees. I will rent with AVIS again.

Prepaid gas? No thanks
Pros: They stuck me with prepaid gas even though I didn't want it. When I objected they said they would take off the charge if I brought it back full. I brought it back full and they asked for my gas receipt, which I didn't receive at the gas station. Eventually they took off the charge but acted like they were doing me a big favor. Also their pickup/drop off process at DCA is a mess.

First time ever to use Avis
Pros: Very easy to get through the check out process in D.C. And the car performed well and was spacious. Used to like Enterprise but Avis was a much better value and the experience was great.

Poor Customer Service
Pros: Terrible customer service. I left a package in the back seat of the car I rented and when trying to call for customer service in the DCA airport nobody answered. I had to drive all the way to the airport and they couldn't find the car that I rented because I didn't have my contract with them even though o showed them my reservation number. Not helpful at all.

Pros: I reserved the car on Kayak at one price and learned at the counter that appropriate insurance would double my price. This was an unpleasant surprise. Very stressful.

Bad pickup time
Pros: Car was fine, all that was good
Cons: You gave me a 7pm pickup time, but the rental place closed at 7pm on the minute. I was lucky and someone was still there and willing to help me, had I been a few minutes late, I might have missed them. Don't give pickup times at the same time as when they close!

Pros: The car was clean, new, and drop off was very easy.
Cons: The rental was over $125 more than quoted on Kayak. Waited in line for over an hour to be told that if I didn't like the price AVIS was giving me I could go to a different counter in the terminal.

Great experience with Avis
Pros: The price was very fair, and having no drop fee for state-to-state rental was a very pleasant surprise! The employees at both pick up and drop off were very nice. The car was clean and trouble-free.

Cons: Reserved car on line with no problem using my debit card. Arrived at Avis, line was very long. Waited in line one hour to reach agent. At end of check-out process she told me my card we declined and she could not rent me a car. I was using my card frequently and it was never declined. She insisted she could not rent me a car because of a "soft credit check" by Equifax. So I went next door to Hertz and gave them my business.

Difficulty returning car at Union Station in DC
Pros: Great car, efficient pickup
Cons: Finding out where to return car/bad phone service. Couldn't get thru to local rental car counter

No cars available
Cons: No cars were available despite making a reservation and arriving on time. I noticed on multiple occasions that this location is understaffed (just one person at the front desk and one person at the car pick up site), and I experienced a 45 minute wait before I was told they could not provide a car. Alamo was less expensive if I took the car back to the airport instead of Union Station, and thankfully they had a vehicle ready.

I wouldn't do a Kayak rental again
Cons: Fortunately, a day before we left, I noticed that the pick up and return were not what I had specified in making the rental. Rather than being at the airport, they were at some other location in the D.C. area. When I called to change, I found out that there would be an additional charge and then the computer system shut down so I was told to call back. I went to Avis on line and was told that the reservation number was not associated with my name. I called again and cancelled. When I received the cancellation, it had the correct number, but was for some location in PA. I then used my Avis preferred number and made a reservation. Although $30 more than my original reservation, it was uneventful. I will never use a KAYAK arranged rental again!!

Worked as advertised
Pros: Rented Ford Taurus. Drove from Washington DC to Miami and back without issues. Car was clean and functional. Got additional insurance through Kayak 3rd party at a fraction of the price that Avis would charge.
Cons: Comfort rating isn't a reflection on Avis, more about the long distance comfort of the vehicle itself. Pick-up/Drop-off location at 1722 M street opens precisely at 7am. No early/late drop-off available.
