Pros:The staff was rude and unfriendly when arriving for pick up. Car wasn’t ready and I was made to wait and then offered a different type of car to the one I rented.Cons:The car could’ve been ready on time and I could’ve been given clearer and friendlier instructions. Pros:The car was fine. I had no complaintsCons:When I returned the car I told them it needed a good vacuuming since my son's dog was in the car and he sheds. The attendant told me that dogs were not allowed and they would charge me $200+ for cleaning. No one had told me dogs were not allowed and nothing in their contract states that. It does state that a reasonable charge would be applied for clean up if necessary. The only additional cleaning needed would be minor. I'm aware of that since I brought the car to a car wash when I arrived at my destination on Dec 21st. The total cost including a generous tip was under $20. Budget has charged me over $300 which is totally unreasonable. There were no stain or anything extraordinary required.Reviewed 6 Jan. 2016

Pros:The pick-up was horrible. I was suppose to pick up the vehicle at 12 noon. I didn't get a vehicle until after 1:00pm.Cons:This was my first time driving a "keyless" vehicle. I wasn't given any instructions how to operate it. I had to call a friend to tell me how to start and turn off the vehicle. I'm old school and hadn't rented a vehicle in over several years.Reviewed 29 Dec. 2020

Pros:Pick up and drop off was not easy especially drop off. It’s in a mall and I have no idea where is car returns. I haven’t given any directions, all I have is the address. No signs whatsoever about car returns. I have to park in the mall and go around asking people. I found there office inside the mall and the lady said I can park anywhere in the mall. The lady wasn’t friendly. I’m not super happy about the drop off part but the price and car were great.Cons:Better communication towards pickups and drop off locations and more instructions.Reviewed 3 Jan. 2021

Pros:Absolutely nothing goodCons:The staff at that location was rude, disrespectful, didn't want to listen to me & said they had to charge me $200 on my credit card, so the female said she was cancelling it..... So went online to book with Avis, so I want my insurance payment back, since they wouldn't give me vehicle and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about.....Reviewed 3 Jun. 2020

Cons:The car needs to be looked at again as it was jerky a bit on the highway. But on to the most pressing issue... The car we rented had plates that expired 2 days before we were to return it, so there was no option to extend the rental even through it was necessary to ensure our safe return with Hertz's property. It would be helpful to NOT allow a car with almost expired plates to be rented, especially because there were several moments during the return trip where we were in standstill traffic because of accidents ahead of us, ultimately affecting and extending our return time to outside of the return window. Trying to be proactive, we attempted to contact customer service to anticipate any concerns with our return. We were told by a Hertz employee in Silver Spring named Chris that our reservation was modified to allow us to return to ANY location in the area, including HIS suggestion that we go to Union Station in Washington, DC. Once we got to Union Station, we learned there was a $200 return fee that was not mentioned to us by Chris over the phone. This fee caught us off guard. To avoid the fee, we had to drive an additional hour to BWI airport to return the car, adding more mileage and more time driving while tired. In light of this experience, I will forego future rentals with Hertz and take my business to other rental companies and make sure that I'm honest to loved ones about this experience.Reviewed 31 Dec. 2017

ScrewedPros:Booked a car to be picked up at Reagan Airport in DC through KAYAK--$196 for 5 days. When we arrived we discovered we were booked for a different Budget outlet, so our reservation was no good. We ended up paying $362 for 4 days.The Budget clerk told us that we'd have to pay $450 for 4 days unless we bought their insurance to get a "bundled" deal for the $362.Talked to Budget's Customer Service twice since we returned with no satisfaction. Will never use Budget again and will inform all my friends and family that Budget is unable to supervise their counter help in an effective way so as to prevent or consequent them from manipulating and lying to customers. Give your review a headlinePros:Good price and the car was good, but getting the car was more difficult than it needed to be. I picked up at 12:30 a.m. after waiting in line for well over an hour (only two people in front of me in line with three employees handling paperwork). The computer system was down for scheduled maintenance so everything was handled by hand without any electronic assistance and no one really knew how to input info by hand or what forms were needed. Employees should be trained in this area if scheduled maintenance is necessary. I felt bad that the employees were put in this position and really think this has to do with the computer system management and employee training, which are items the top folks would need to change, they might not even recognize a problem exists. I returned the car in a different location and they didn't even have record that I rented the car. I wasn't given the appropriate documentation to deliver to the facility where the car was being returned and this was handled poorly as well...the employees didn't know how to handle the situation again and treated me like the fault was mine that I didn't have proper documentation. Luckily the manager walked out and apologized and gave me documentation that the car was rented, returned, and recorded gas level and mileage.Reviewed 23 Nov. 2015
