Pros:

Pickup and drop-off was quick and was conducted entirely outdoors.

Cons:

I wish the supplemental insurance was cheaper. It added a significant amount to the daily cost.

Everything- they gave me a different car than what I reserved and I was 60 seconds into my trip before a check engine light came on and then a light telling me I had a flat tire. I did not have a flat tire but I returned the car as there was clearly issues with this vehicle and I did not feel safe.

Standard SUV

I confirmed a rental of a standard size suv and a pickup time. When I arrived to pick up the car, I was told fhere were no suvs and no gas cars. (I could wait 7-8 hours to see if any come in.) Mine was a one-way rental to drive my elderly parents - road trip. I had never driven an electric car and had no warning to plan charging stops on my route. This felt like a bait and switch and is unacceptable.

Horror movie. There were no cars available. No one wanted to be responsible. Hertz tried to charge 2x the price. Kayak never responded to phone calls, emails, chat messages or messages via the website. Hertz made me move to 3 other locations where they might had cars. It was not true. I spent tons on money on Ubers. Then they told me to wait one more day to pick up the car. I waited and spent one extra night in Chicago. No cars again! Worst experience ever and lack of professionalism from both Hertz and Kayak. Absolute nightmare!

The rent process is simple, easy, and fast. The staff are friendly. Very good. The return process is also super easy and fast. The only thing I feel bad is that this car is pretty noisy. I think it should do tire balance and tire rotation. I was so concerned about the noise and I almost drove back to ask for exchanging the car.
