Cons: Four days prior to my pick0upn date, had made my appointment for pick-up at 11am, as I had to drive to a meeting in another state. When I arrived, the car was not ready. They informed me that it had to be cleaned and it would be a 1-2 hour wait. This was eventhough I had made an appointment in ADVANCE. They did not apologize or offer to fix the issue in any way. They just expected me to wait, inside the car rental center, during a pandemic, for a car that should've been ready.
I waited for an hour and when I returned to the counter to inquire as to whether the car was ready, they informed me that they had cleaned a car, but it had a slight dent, so I'd have to wait another hour or two for another car to be cleaned.
I asked them if they needed my cell number, so I could wait outside, so I could socially distance during Covid. They said they had it.
After another 1.5 hours, I returned and asked again about my car. They said not yet, but I should give them my credit card information. Finally, after 2+ hours of waiting, the car was ready. It was not the car I requested. Again, no apology.
Once in the car, I checked all the necessary features such as windshield wiper fluid (it was snowing), lights, etc. They all worked. However, as soon as I got on the freeway, where there was a lot of salt on the road for snow, the windshiled wiper fluid ran out. It was EXTREMELY dangerous. I could not see, I had to pull over on the freeway multiple times to wipe off the windshield. After finally finding a gas station, buying fluid (with my own monery), and filling up the EMPTY windshielf wiper fluid, I was able to finally see.
Needless to say, I missed my appointment due to the delay and car issues. I am VERY dissapointed in Hertz. I rented from the Chicago airport, which is a large hub, so they should've been prepared. When I dropped off the car, no effort was made to ammend the issues I experienced. Never again HERTZ!
