My original prepaid reservation was unable to be fulfilled due to low inventory. The counter agent at that location told me to check back the day of my departure to see if any cars had come in. I tried calling three times and no answer. This forced me to travel to another location to secure a rental. First I was told I need to call the corporate support center to have my reservation pick up location changed. The representative quoted me a price four times as high as my original pre paid reservation. I asked to speak to the supervisor and was put on hold for nearly ten minutes before the support center ended the call without solving my issue. The counter agent at the new location was helpful and suggested I create a new reservation to ensure I get a car before they run out. That rental charge was still more than double what my original prepaid reservation was. I am still waiting for a full refund for my original reservation and I believe Hertz should honor my original paid fee and adjust the charges. Also, I received a fraud alert from my bank saying Hertz was trying to process a $100 charge but I do not know what for because I still have not received a final receipt which I was told would be emailed to me when I returned the car.Reviewed 16 May 2023

I had to change my reservation because I did it with a virtual card thru my affirm account and didn’t have a physical card. I I was informed that before the transaction I would have maybe not done it that way. A waste of time and was on hold to change the reservation with hertz for an 45 minutes. The rep at the location couldn’t update the credit card information so I had to call. Just a waste of time and energy!Reviewed 15 May 2023

Car rentals are a total scam. Someone made a mistake on this rental (maybe me) and reserved it at the wrong location. (Chicago city instead of Chicago airport) It was rebooked at more than double the price. And then they have the unmitigated gall to charge me $15/day for a toll pass to handle $4 in tolls. Because there are no toll booths any more. I don't know why it seems normal to browse for prices like "$45/day" and then pay $200/day instead. Car rentals are just a *&($#& scam and you guys are no help in navigating it. Disgraceful. Why can't we browse by the *actual* price we expect to pay? Why is there this endless list of add-on fees and taxes? Why is it that after chiseling me out of all the money with the fees and toll plates, they are free to chisel me out of gas money? It's just a *&#$^* scam from one end to the other, but sadly it's very hard to get to some places without it. Kayak could do a much better job trying to help, but you don't.Reviewed 12 May 2023

The staff was great but upon arrival the car we agreed to wasn’t available. So we had to either wait for up to an hour our pay extra for a larger vehicle. Other than that our experience was great. Pick-up And drop were easy.Reviewed 20 Apr. 2023

The undisclosed manager's special's vehicle was a full size pick-up truck - a Dodge 1500 - much to my surprise. The daily rental cost was a great value for the money, but the cost of fuel was substantially higher than I had budgeted, given that I was anticipating a vehicle with a much smaller engine at this price point. The initial QR code I was given to exit the parking garage in the Chicago Loop also did not work, leading me to remain stuck for several minutes at the exit gate until I was able to get through to a human being at Hertz and explain my situation. The second QR code I was given opened the gate immediately. The 1500.Dodge Ram was offered at an extremely low daily for this make and model of truck, though I was not expecting to drive such a large vehicle in and out of downtown Chicago where parking for vehicles of this size can sometimes be difficult, not to mention the savings I earned from lower rental costs were offset by the costs of refueling a vehicle that only averaged 17 mpg.Reviewed 21 Feb. 2023
