After five nights in one of the “prestige” Reforma hotels, we transferred to the Zocalo Central hotel just to taste a different part of Mexico City. We are so glad we did and wish we had moved earlier. The location is simply jaw-dropping. Our room, 515, (we were told) was the best in the house. I can see why. It commands a stunning vista over the Square and church. I think I could live in that room. The rest of the Zocalo Central is small compared to the Reforma hotel we had just left, but its intimacy and charm more than compensated. A bountiful Breakfast is presented on the top (sixth floor), which also commands a stunning view of the Zócalo. Do not skip breakfast or have it brought to your room (unless you’re lucky enough to get 515)! Bring your camera. The front staff are professional and friendly; the bellman, Juan Luis, has worked at the hotel for 30 years. This is stuff of legend. And perhaps one of the greatest advantages is the fact that, compared to the sterile and business-account atmosphere of Reforma, this neighborhood is the real deal of Mexico City: vibrant, exciting, a little funky, ablaze with action, packed with local restaurants (rather than Shake Shack, Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks), with stunning colonial architecture and echoes of Mexico City’s history in every direction. It’s like comparing Seattle with — well — Mexico City. Both are wonderful, but both have very different personalities. Negatives? Hard to find one, other than traffic (allow for that when coming and going to destinations outside the neighborhood), which are exacerbated by street closures. Twice, our driver explained to stern-faced police that we were tourists with luggage and needed to pass through closed street: the police smiled and let us through. Mexico City, I love you.

Cons: Rooftop restaurant did not have a bar, you have to order and sit on a table to drink. I paid the most expensive mojitos I ever had $24 dollars for two to be exact plus tip for the waiter. The room I had was tiny with a 1foot by two slim overhead window, quite claustrophobic for me... The breakfast buffet was $24 dollars, really! You walk next block to Restaurant El Popular and order their menus for less than $6.

Pros: The rooms at the Zocalo Central are well accommodated and well maintained. The staff is phenomenally helpful and friendly, and the roof-top cafe has an unbelievable view of the national cathedral and central plaza below. For sightseeing purposes, one can't beat the location, which is merely steps away from the cathedral, Palacio Nacional, and the city's archeological site.

Pros: The hotel is a gem. It is centrally located, very clean and the staff was amazing. They were friendly and helped us out with getting around the city. As soon as you walk in they make you feel welcomed. They greet you with a smile and a glass of authentic horchata or jamaica. Love it!! The evening guest services provides us with suggestions for excursions, which we took advantage of.
Cons: The restaurant buffett was a bit overpriced. It does provide a great view, so that's what you mainly pay for.

Cons: The check in computer system was always not working properly and even with the clercs were working hard there always was a long row of people waiting to be checked in. You would be lucky if you could check-in in less than 40 minutes. But there were a number of people claiming Someone else was already staying in the room you finally got. There was a day when more than ten people were overbooked and claiming for hours. The electric key was broken, sometimes it worked, but gets broken again, and usually you have to wait about 7-8 minutes for someone to come and open your room.

Pros: Not very convenient to some parts of Mexico City a tourist/business traveler might like (such as Polanco, Lomas, etc. ) but very close to Alameda, Bellas Artes, and because it is on the Reforma Avenue a good launch pad.
Cons: This property is badly in need of an update. The plumbing is messed up -- our bathtub (but not sink or shower) ran brown water, I guess from the rust. The mattresses were quite old. TV was not flatscreen.

Cons: Internet is not working great. Being on a business trip I need it to work all the time. From time to time the connection is interrupted followed by the periods where I could not connect at all. While the staff acknowledged the problem it should not happen that often in the first place (and it happened both times when I stayed in the hotel. The 2nd time was working much better than the first time)

Cons: The service from check-in was horrible. The staff were pretentious and not helpful. They were not friendly and had an attitude of getting the job done at the very least effort. If asked to do something mundane, like giving you change for a bill, it was obvious they were irritated. We had issues with the ATM, which ended up eating up our ATM card and the staff said they were not responsible and didn’t offer any help; not even to call the bank in charge of the ATM. The elevators were really slow and the check in line was really long.

Overall a really great value for your money. The rooms, though on the smaller side, had everything you need. Shower had amazing water pressure, room was kept very clean and in good condition. The lobby staff is very friendly and someone was always present at all hours. There is a lobby bar, room service available, and even an internal connection to the local Starbucks. Obviously security was pocketing the cash. Additionally, was promised a bottle of wine for being an Expedia Gold member via email. The hotel never made good on this offer. Cons: Everything was going well until at 1 AM on Sunday 1/22 night they lost power to the rooms, and it wasn't restored until 3AM. Phones stopped working, there was no lights in room, it was scary. You do not expect this from a top end hotel.

Pros: My gf and I stayed there for a few days.. we always go to Vegas and other cities and look at hotels so we knew what a good hotel is compared to a bad one. This hotel has ok sized rooms but they were 100% clean! has a modern touch to it and the bed was comfortable for when we got tired of exploring. I would definitely stay here again

Pros: The hotel is amazing. Located centrally and only a few miles from the historical center. The Zona Rosa is walking distance and is fun. Saul on the reception desk is AMAZING and will give you the low down on what to do in Mexixo City. Saul made my stay! He is fantastic. There are so many excursions you can go on bookable at reception. I recommend the Pyramids and Taxco. The hotel bar and restraunt is ok but there are better places in the area to eat and less expensive.

Pros: So I was considering going to Mexico City and Orbitz had a $50 off $100 promotion, and only certain hotels were included. Ny. T. Roma Hotel came up, so I booked it for a week without thinking much of it. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, and I arrived to check in to a really, really nice room. Apparently there are many differnet room types, so I was assigned to a king bed room with an extra bed and a sauna. I couldn't get the sauna to work, and unfortunately I had to give this huge room up as my Internet wasn't working. This room was at the end of the hallway, so the signal strength wasn't good. Cue the amazing staff, who showed me a few rooms with my laptop in tow to see if the Internet would work. I found a room near the elevator on the 2nd floor that worked for me, and Ricardo went to the basement, apparently, and summoned up a desk and a chair for me to work on since I had mentioned it was a shame the rooms were missing this feature. The lighting in the room is awesome. They have rope lights along the floor that you can control, so at night I have just enough light to find the bathroom without turning on more lights to wake myself up. There's also a backlit mirror on the wall and like 3 or 4 other light switches to get the mood JUST right. The shower is great with the rainfall style faucet in the ceiling. Gets hot quick. The Internet speed isn't the best, but it is much faster than I anticipated while being in Mexico. Even at full price, this hotel is a great deal. I would easily stay here again if I was to return to Mexico City. It's walking distance from everything!

Pros: Very helpful staff, though limited English proficiency. The hotel is near a train (Metro) station, which makes it easy to get around the city for 5pesos one-way.
Cons: Being nitpicky here...the cleaning staff starts going around a little too early for my liking. I think around 8:30 or so I they go around, While I had the do-not-disturb notice on my door, I could still hear them them knocking on nearby doors since they were so close.

Pros: Location was exceptional. Very accessible to all kinds of public transportation, fairly safe area except the back of the hotel (from outside). It needs more lighting and have a more friendlier appearance. Bellman/security very friendly some of them very knowledgeable, and the young lady that serves the food at the breakfast buffet really knows what the customer service business is all about. She has a great smile and everything you ask for she gets for you without hesitating. One of the best things at the hotel are the security cameras on every corner of the floors. Beds were very comfortable, I guess it depends on your preferences as far as mattresses since I saw bad bed reviews from this hotel before.
Cons: Staff for the most part don't know what they are doing during check in/out.they seem lost. I'll give the front desk manager the credits for their lack of customer service and old system to run the operation. The restaurant hostess keeps telling you that you have to pay for breakfast as soon as you enter the restaurant; they say its policy to remind the guest they have to pay even if they have seen you for two weeks straight or if you have a visitor (potential client) for breakfast. (Not the best way to greet a customer), also chairs are extremely dirty. Front desk charges you for lost key cards and they question you if you ask for extra keys; when if you go to a branded hotel you can loose 100 key cards and you won't pay a penny. If you want to exchange dollars at the hotel the pay you 10 pesos per dollar when if you go outside its 16 pesos per dollar. Basically they steal from you. Bad business practice! And lastly housekeeping don't dust rooms or deep clean bathrooms.

Cons: The hotel is under construction and they only have several rooms available. The rooms that my family and I got were ok and the air conditioners were not working. So they had floor air conditioning with some fans. It did not work. Rooms were so hot and we were not able to sleep at all. We complained to the personnel and all they said was “sorry but we are under remodeling due to the last earthquake”. Well, they should not have any rooms available until they finish and get the ac units working. !! We had a terrible experience !! Don’t stay !!
