Payless has great customer service for the situation we were out in. The insurance prices are crazy but at the end of the day it wasn’t Payless fault. This is a country requirement that we did understand prior to booking. The pick up was easy and Luis was great!! Drop off was simple as well and super friendly. Car was cleaned when we picked up and that was appreciated.

The check-in process took forever. It was a large line and at the beginning the attendance. Chatting among each other, Delaying the process. Finally, a young man came in. And checked in as many people as the previous to attendance did together. I’ve been to this car rental before, and it brought a memory of the last time we experience the same thing. Very frustrating.

I prepaid for my car only to get to the counter and wait for just under an hour. Once assigned a car, I again waited because I was then told my car was double booked. I finally got a car, and it was a great car. However, after turning it in on time I was charged for 3 additional days because they had me down as driving a completely different car. Definitely will Pay More next time and rent from someone else.

Getting from baggage claim to Payless terminal had to stand in long lines to get on the bus. The customer service agent was very nice and friendly. We ended up getting an electric car, but never told us about what charging stations we could use being not familiar with that type of electric car and where the charging stations were a big problem wasted a lot of time during our driving experience, trying to find chargers that would work.

Payless always comes through, the pickup and dropoff process is fast and easy never any issue.. The payless cars are very updated and reliable, the price is always affordable and the deposit is always given back as soon as you drop it off, no extra charges or fees.. I highly recommend them, been using them for the past 3 yrs everytime i travel and not 1 issue..

I loved the car loved the easy pick up and return of the rental car. The airport made it very self explanatory to get the car back with white letters on the road to direct you back to the rental car return. Made me smile. I had to extend my rental due to not finishing the work I came down for and the company made it very easy to extend.

getting a ride from airport took half an hour, initial phone contact number didn't pick up, 17 callers wait for call to be answered. At drop off in early morning the office was closed, fortunetly one of the hotel workers saw me and another woman and told us where to park and drove us to airport.There should have been a sign at door directing to Hotel.

Took forever for the shuttle to arrive. The people getting off of the shuttle told me good luck getting a car. When we got to the rental car facility, the customers that were already there had been waiting so long to get their cars, I called an Uber instead so I didn’t miss my appointment. Since it was a non refundable rental, I lost my money.

Horrible - do not book with NextCar. They denied my car insurance because I was not the primary policyholder. I have full coverage insurance, so there was no logistical reason to deny it. The supplemental insurance cost as much as the rental itself. I was never told at the time of booking that I would be forced to use their insurance if I wasn’t the primary policyholder. I was only told so 24 hours out from my booking. I’m actively trying to get a refund for this.

It was really hard to find the shuttle driver and when we did it took us to a sketchy feeling part of town took us into a warehouse and had us talk with a representative with a very heavy accent over a computer screen. We were not told where to bring the car back - turns out we had to find the sketchy warehouse back and they could not take us back to our hotel even though it was closer than the airport.

There was a minor scratch at the bottom of the front bumper which is not visible unless you are on your knees. As far as I am concerned we didn’t do anything to cause it. It may be already there and we didn’t notice when we took the care at midnight. At any rate my gripe is with how they handled this situation. We bought most expensive coverage possible with them which is twice the rental price itself. But during checkout they stalled us because of this issue even though we told them that we are cutting too close to our departure time and requested them to call the insurance and get it reimbursed because we already bought the coverage. But they insisted on us calling them and we couldn’t because we didn’t have local mobile plan. After lot of back and forth they checked other contracts on the vehicle and probably figured out that the damage was already there and the let us off the hook. It was a happy ending but the whole drama could have been avoided if they had customer service at the forefront of their minds.

They charge me extra for fuel even I returned with more fuel then I got it I was charged one extra hour bec of the time of reservations and not the time of pick up waited for customer service for half hour nobody helped me in the drop off airport called customer service and received money back . Would not rent with Alamo again they just take your money

Very bad experience. Booked two weeks prior to my visit. Day before I was supposed to pick it up they called to inform me that the car probably won’t be available. No call back. I call them the day I was supposed to pick it up to see if there’s anything new and nothing. Can’t offer another solution, don’t call back, didn’t seem like they wanted to help. Not looking for an apology or compensation. Only hear to warn people about this company.

Awful. Tricked into buying insurance I didn't want. I tried talking to them about not wanting it on the day I got it. They told me to either come back that day or at drop off dispute it then. I left the city I got it in by the time I called so I though return would be fine. At return they said there was nothing they can do but bring to their manage who wasn't there. They said to leave message for them to review and leave email and phone number. I did and left number and email. No response. I'm billed 350$ more than I wanted. Nothing and I think I won't get any. Also customer service was awful in store and on the phone. No help on phone can be done for these things and was lied to.

I pre-paid for a convertible car but when I arrived they tried to give me a 2 door coupe and when I spoke with the agent she was surprised that the car was not a convertible. She tried to give me some other sports car but I told her that I really wanted what I paid for. She then said that I would have to come back the next morning for a convertible. (Good thing we had decided not to drive down to Key West that night like our original plan). When we got there the next morning they didn’t have a convertible still, so I told them to just give me a SUV and pointed to an Explorer. I've rented a electric car but when picked up the battery was empty (less than 10miles of autonomy) I've returned it and another was provided, unfortunately same situation. Lost an hour in a process so I then took the risk to drive it to a charging station... Be aware that most of the charging station displayed by Maps or even Ford systems are inside Condos and not accessible to the public which restrict a lot the possibilities.

Returned car one hour late as thought it was due back an hour later. Avis charged me $58.00 for the one hour. The rate per day was $26.00. This is outrageous and total piracy. My initial flight was delayed so I called asking if I could pick up the car the next day, I was told it wouldn't be a problem but the person I spoke with didn't ask my name or reservation number. When I got there the next day, there were no Chrysler 300's available and I got a Kia Optima that smelled like body odor. I was able to take it to the airport Avis and get the Chrysler thankfully, and everyone was great that I dealt with, but obviously it would have been ideal to get the car I requested at the location I planned. Otherwise I would have just gone to the airport spot.

Before departure the counter added a whole day to the rental along with an extension surcharge even though our rental was for the period as booked - 4 days and 3 hours. Ace staff said that i couldn't decline all coverages even with my GEICO and AAdvantage credit card coverages. These added charges came with their own increased taxes and airport fees on top. We had reserved a compact car (Corolla or similar) for four people and luggage (2 large, 2 small suitcases) and they were short on cars and tried to have us leave in a Mustang convertible (two door) and tried to say that the trunk was the same size as a Corolla. The next vehicle they tried to put us in was a Nissan Murano which had a door that couldn't be open from the inside due to the child safety latch being broken and stuck-engaged. Finally, a new Kia Forte that just came back from the wash with only 500 miles on it was presented to us and we took it. This entire process took 45 minutes, starting 15 minutes before our rental period and without a proper vehicle key in hand until 30 minutes into our booking period.

When I booked, there were gas vehicles available for the same price but was given an electric vehicle with no instructions on how or where to charge it. I upgraded to a gas vehicle and it ended up costing me more when they were available for the same price in the beginning. We booked a car for $140 for 6 days. I checked several times to make sure the car rental was at the airport, not with a shuttle. When we arrived, and finally found an attendant for U-Save amongst the crowd when you exit SJD (Cabo) airport, he indicated we would take a shuttle to the car rental office. We still waited 5-10 minutes for the shuttle. When we finally arrived, they said there were mandatory insurance fees of nearly $60/day, which would bring my total closer to $500–that’s more than triple the price I had reserved with. That was supposed to be the total cost. After much back and forth, they said there’s nothing they could do and that this 3rd party insurance is required in Mexico. We were almost going to agree, about to start the paperwork, then they said they would have to charge $1500 as a deposit for incidentals. This was NOT a hold, this was going to be a charge that they would refund. I’ve rented cars before and I understand a deposit for incidentals. But this amount seemed outrageously high, especially in light of the forced insurance. We decided to skip the car rental altogether and just used taxis/Uber to get around. It cost us much much less, and definitely less headache. I would never ever book with U-Save ever again. And generally be wary of renting a car in Cabo for that matter, as they just try to impose additional costs and triple the anticipated cost.

Overall very good experience, great value, only negatives were they tried to soft upsell the car and coverage but weren’t forceful when I declined. At pick up the car had dings and missing spare tire (and no personnel around when you get the car, you just walk to it from the terminal) but they did not try to charge us for it upon return. When booking the rental car it was not clear that the rental car location was off the airport property. Also, we were required to pay for a toll activation fee of $20/day and had to purchase insurance for $30/day. These fees were not disclosed until we got to the desk. Also, there is only an hour pickup window, and we were hassled because our flight was delayed. There is a $500 security deposit. The additional fees charges at the time we picked up the car were an additional $350 on top of what we had already paid to reserve the car. Do not recommend booking with this company.

They are a scam, they give you a cheap price up front and when you get to storefront they hit you with a mountain of fees that the larger car rental organizations don’t do

This is borderline not a real company. I am not a regular car renter and just pick from the top of the list on kayak for price. The ad said "in terminal" which was more appealing than taking the train and long shuttle. Not only was it not in the thermal, after getting to where all the normal major brands were located, there was no signs, no indicators of where to go. This caused some panic. I referent the booking receipt that was so vague it had just an address. I asked one of the floor brokers and he said he would call the guy and send someone to get me and to wait at a bus terminal. It was not marked or had any indicators of any kind. At that time I looked up reviews and it made me sick. Never more than a one star. I rebooked another common brand on the spot and wasn't going that route..

Staff did not understand the english language, desk was not at the airline terminal as advertised, could not get anyone to pick us up at the terminal, had to make a phone call to get someone to pick us up at the terminal, coverage I paid for was not of any value so I had to buy additional coverage, did not get a car I asked for, took so long to finally get my car I was 3 hours late arriving at my destination.

Cons:

I arrived at the airport at 7:30pm and called for a shuttle. I called twice with no answer. I took a taxi out an couldn't find the location. I finally got through and the person on the phone said they closed at 5. On my printed out paper, it says pick up till 9pm. I had to make a last minute booking with another company at the airport and paid a 65$ taxi fee for the back and forth. The money I would have saved was not worth this head ache. I am super disappointed the pick up times weren't clearly indicated and I would have arranged myself accordingly. I think kayak should make a better effort in providing better, reliable companies considering their name is associated with them.

Pros:

Nice car, , new excellent condition.

Cons:

Waited 45 minutes at the airport for the shuttle. Called ACO several times but no answer. Car engine light came on and the ACO call centre was unable to help me, it being a Sunday. I sent a photo and an email of my concern but received no reply. No windshield washer fluid.

Arrived in Orlando, called ACO for pickup and was told my car had been cancelled. There is absolutely NO way that I did this. The customer service person had no explanation and offered no help other then to go back online and try again. When I did this I was told there were no cars available. So there I was stuck last minute at the airport getting another car at twice the cost. Never again Kayak

Cons:

Shuttle from airport doesn’t arrive. I called multiple times. No answer, no response to voicemail. Took taxi instead. Hard to find location which is in the middle of nowhere, barely lit and marked Tuff instead of ACO. Got to counter at 7:02 and was told they close at 7 so wouldn’t help me. Also if you are an hour late your entire contract is canceled anyway. So they would not have helped me regardless due to the shuttle bus issue. I was stranded with my toddler and no car. Staff would not even call me a taxi. Thank goodness Lyft was nearby. Terrible staff, terrible service, terrible operation. I wasted $50+ in cab fare thanks to ACO. BEWARE.
