The pick up experience in San Jose was horrendous. We waited an hour to get a car, as did the customers around us. One had to wait 2 hours. The place was understaffed and unorganized. The company needs better software and hardware. The man who helped us was perfectly lovely it wasn’t his fault there are clearly systemic issues.Reviewed 12 Jun. 2022

They should have had people at the payless counter instead of shuffling people over to the avis/budget counter. It took about 30 to 45 minutes just to get to the counter and another 20 minutes to get the car. If I didn't budget my time, I would have been late for our family event.Reviewed 9 Sep. 2021

The Payless counter was closed and directed everyone to the budget car rental counter which was an extremely long line. We landed at 2pm and went straight to pick up the car. We were in line by 2:10pm and we didn’t get to the front of the counter until 3:30pm. We finally got sent to pick up the car in which took an additional 30 mins of waiting to get the car turned into us. By the time we were driving off the San Jose airport it was 4pm. That placed a dent in all our plans and reservations we had planned on our trip. It was really saddening to know that no one even tried to assist or apologize for wait times. The staff was not friendly in the car pick/drop off area.Reviewed 6 Sep. 2021

Pros:The staff was helpful. When I picked up the car, it had a half tank of gas. They told me to return it with the same amount, which I did. But when I got there, they charged me for the remainder for a full tank. I went to the desk and the agent there and guy who checked it out a few days before to me were very helpful and corrected it (refunded the difference).Reviewed 29 Mar. 2021

Pros:Clean car, employees at counter very politeCons:For starters I thought I was renting car with kayak not with other party that I never heard of it. On paper it says I got car at 5:36 but reality was that car was no ready and got it at 5:59p not a problem understandable even if it delay me am put me to more traffic time but for them is not ok for us to turn late, I got there at 8;07p and seems I was charge another. My point is we don’t get discount for pick up late but get fully charged for being late “very fair”Reviewed 8 Mar. 2021
