1 person was at the checkin desk despite a 30min+ line. While I was in line to rent a car, I was sent an invitation to check in online. I did just that. I checked in and proceeded to the parking deck. When I got to the deck I was informed that Hertz didn't have any vehicles in my category but they would be happy to rent me an upgrade for 50 extra dollars per day. After begging the team at the parking deck, I was instructed and required to go back into line one more time and check in again. I spent more than 80 minutes trying to get a car. When I finally got through the line the second time I went up to the parking deck and there were a half dozen cars just like the one I rented. The delay was very very irritating and the fact that you tried to upsell me as opposed to just find an adequate appropriate replacement. Vehicle to rent is just as infuriating. As you would expect, I will remember this the next time I go to rent a car.
Vehicle was a little dirty on the outside and a cleaning rag and a different set of car keys were left on the inside, but otherwise the pickup and drop off were smooth and the lady who checked us in was super friendly and helpful
Pick up was to say the least, pathetic. I did all of the suggested check in steps ahead of arriving at the counter. Still had to stand in line for 30 minutes, 10 of which were being first in line while 3 agents stared at their screens helping no one else. Then, was told that I would have to wait another 40 minutes to get the vehicle. The only explanation given was that they were backed up in cleaning vehicles.
Would have been nice to know before I went all the way to the airport that they only took major credit cards with a balance of $500 or more.
I had to return the car I had for another due to an engine light and low tire pressure light on. The car was dirty.
The drop off location in Dallas Downtown was closed and hard to locate. Not the easiest car return. The customer representative in San Antonio was like a car sales person and very pushy with all of the extras that could be added, was an uncomfortable situation.
