the car had over 67,000 miles on it and not in great running condition. It stalled out on me on a couple of occasions. There was no one at the return lane to check out with so I had to go to the terminal counter to check out. No one inquired as to how my rental experience was. disappointing.Reviewed 11 Feb. 2024

I reserved an economy rental which was a Versa, Spark or similar. When I got there it was going to be an electric vehicle which was fine. I was only renting it for one day (six hours to be exact). The agent told me I had to bring it back full. I questioned how I was going to charge it at the airport. He told me that I would be charged a minimum fee of $35. This did not seem right to me, there is no way to circumvent this charge. I then had to up size to a medium car. When I got to the car, the gas was 3/4 full. They were closing and I had to take it. Getting the car was a strange experience. I asked the clerk at least five times what kind of car he had for me and he just wouldn't answer me. It took major effort to clarify that there were several different cars in the category I had reserved and that I just had to pick one out of the lot and take it. He seemed totally unaware what cars were available and only a very vague idea of what a "regular SUV" even was. I found that there were signs above the parking spaces saying "Regular SUV" and I had a choice of about 5 different vehicles to choose from, although not the Toyota RAV4 I had reserved, although to be fair, the small print did say "or equivalent." The Honda I chose was pretty clean and satisfactory for my needs.Reviewed 14 Nov. 2023

Dollar has always been a solid and reliable rental service. We ended up not getting what we paid for, which was a bit frustrating this trip, and the Ft Myer airport seemed a little disorganized in the rental pool after we left the Dollar desk. Pros:The staff at pick up was not very friendly or took the time to explain things. Had to look for staff to get the car. Pickup was easy but I prefer an attendant to be there to give me my receipt so I know what I’m being charged and when there isn’t an attendant, an email of the charges should be sent.Cons:See aboveReviewed 25 May 2021

Pros:Car was very clean and drop off was a breeze.Cons:It took an hour and 15 minutes to pickup our car. There were only two people working the counter. All the other rental companies were flying through their lines. Maybe there was a lack of training or just plain inefficiency with your counter attendants. We then were given terrible directions and no details on where our rental car would be. We walked around for 10 minutes, lugging three carseats, three suitcases, and three children trying to find the car. Our car was in the hertz spots and if it wasn’t for the garage attendant, we never would’ve looked there because we rented from dollar. Due to that experience, and knowing others in our family had the same experience I’m not sure I will be renting from Dollar again. I should’ve listened to the reviews. It’s worth paying a little more with another company for a quicker pickup process.Reviewed 23 May 2021

Pros:Car was clean. Online process was simple (see below about in person)Cons:Pick-up took over an hour even after online reservation. Not enough staff at airport to handle demand. Several rental car companies where routed through one single line. Once we arrived at the rental desk, an agent said the lines had been lengthy for over two weeks. That should have generated a better flow or additional agents available. Be sure to weigh the option of the pass if you do not plan to go in/out of Sanibel Island. We probably overpaid. As others have mentioned, prices are excessive everywhere right now with rental charges.Reviewed 9 May 2021
