Cons: Only issue was locating the car park as the postcode doesn’t take you to the right location, it’s also a very small car park so arrive early. Also the girlfriend thought the bed was a little hard! But all very minor things as overall it was fantastic

Cons: Had lunch there on arrival. It was abyssmal English food at best. Overpriced, unimaginative and worthy of my old boarding school.

Pros: Really well presented Guesthouse with a good cooked breakfast each morning and plenty of choice of cereals and juices. Particularly appreciated the fact that they provided complimentary bottled water/coke in the mini bar and biscuits every day and not just on the day of arrival. I also booked during Valentine's Day and the Oxford Townhouse were fantastic in offering extras at a reasonable price including chocolates, flowers, champagne.....all lovely presented in the room with heart-shaped decorations. Thanks for making it a wonderful weekend despite the atrocious weather.

The whole building is rather on the warmer side, so for people who gets cold easily wont have a problem to feel nice and toasty. The bus stop is almost in front of the house. Cant' fault anything.

Cons: Our bathroom was tiny, didn't appear to be ventilated, and we expected a bath as well as a shower. The soup we had one night in the restaurant wasn't very warm and was watery. Were charged £2.70 for still water.

Cons: The only thing that could be considered a downside was that, during booking, I had pre-arranged with the hotel for them to do something special/place something in the room for my partner's birthday. This didn't happen but cannot complain as this was an extra and we did arrive quite early, which may have thwarted this. It was also quite busy that weekend, being so close to Valentine's, so do not hold this against the hotel. I would still give a 10/10 and would stay again.

Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful, we had an issue with two of three rooms and they were happy to accommodate us right away, true we were only staying the night so it was an easy change, but it was helpful. The bar is well stocked, and dinner was great, a very well prepared meal, so good we wish we had another night to repeat the experience. Breakfast too was well prepared and had good dishes as options, but the buffet was sparse.

Cons: Even though we were on a separate building from the main one we were so hot we had to sleep with the window open, we did try to turn down or off the heat radiators in the room, but we may have been sharing a couple of walls with some more hotter rooms, we really don’t know, but had we stayed another night we would have asked what could be done about it.

Our room although compact had everything we needed, the bathroom was pleasant and included the use of bath robes. The view was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable resulting in a good nights sleep - rare for hotels. Breakfast was a buffet but good quality and included a hot English selection, several juices, continental selection and a waffle maker - we definitely didn't need lunch!

Cons: The dirt in the bathroom, nothing in the fridge, poor selection of coffee stuff. Old tired hotel. Checked in and was given a disabled room which was big but had cracked tiles in the showers which had been grouted up, the shower curtain didn’t look to clean either. Asked to change rooms and were give another which was in my opinion a three star room. There was nothing in the fridge, two small packets of biscuits and not much else. The shower was dirty as were the bathroom taps (see photos). This is an old hotel which trades off its reputation, it was probably amazing in its day but those days have sadly gone. Next time I’m in oxford I’ll stay in the malmaisson again, better value for money and a nicer place, in a five star hotel I expect five star service which we got but the old tiredness of the rooms, dirty bathroom and lack of room facilities let it down

Cons: £40 a night to park your car:- is over-the-top! The hotel despite its marketing, is definitely not a 5 star hotel except in respect of its prices, no gym, no swimming pool, a lack of lounges/relaxation areas and hotel looking a little tired in places, more shabby chic than 5 star, in my opinion!

Cons: We were in a room with heavy scaffolding blocking the entire two windows. Men were talking, yelling & working/pounding in front of the two windows every morning. They totally ignored us who needed sleeping in the room. There were no privacy nor courtesy. We were not informed or asked if it's Ok for the reception to assign such a downgraded room (the windows were blocked by scaffolding entirely)to us at check in either. The service and facilities were at most a one star hotel this time. I stayed in this hotel for about 5 times in the last two years because we were visiting our daughter who was studying at Worcestor college(one block away). They've been always about a three stars hotel standard. But this time was the worst. We will not use this hotel any more. It's totally not worth the price & the poor facility.

Our room was always beautifully cleaned. The breakfast lady was great and breakfast delishious. it was a very good place to stay, just off the edge of the centre, but close enough to walk most places and if you didn't want to walk there was a bus stop accross the road. We'd go back anytime.

Pros: The staff went out of their way to mark my sister's 50th birthday with many thoughtful touches; this was very much appreciated. The ladies on the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Our premium room and bathroom were spacious. The seating area on the ground floor was very pleasant.
Cons: We had a problem with our tv and mentioned this to the staff on front desk, who apologised and explained that all the televisions were being replaced.

Cons: Have stayed here on a number of occasions on floors 1-3. Great views. Felt as if I was in Oxford. This time we had room 404 which is in the basement. View of the car park. Cars parked inches away from the window so when window open exhaust fumes enter room. Disappointing as the experience does not compare with thaton the upper floors. But the price did.

Room was lovely and comfortable, right next to an exceptionally busy main road and never heard a thing, slept very well. Breakfast lovely and tasty, I had poached egg morning 1, scrambled egg. Morning 2, partner had fried and every one of them perfect. Buses running in and out of oxford from outside the gate and bought a 24 hour bus pass which saved us a fortune. On day of check out hosts offered us to leave our car there whilst went in to the centre for the day. Fab place, very highly recommended.

Cons: I can find no fault as everything I needed was provided. I was travelling alone on public transport so did not need to take up a parking space. I suppose that it might seem a long walk to the city centre but there are regular buses every 10 minutes or so which stop just outside the guest house.

Cons: Heating was either too hot or too cold, thermostat wasn’t working. I just unplugged the radiator as I like it cold rather than too hot. Breakfast okay but something hot like eggs would have been nice.

Cons: Stayed in the Vicarage Suite and the noise from 6 onwards of other guests moving around the building and going in and out of the hotel was impossible to sleep through. Booked a late check out and could hear the staff discussing it right outside the room hours before (even with the do not disturb sign on). On the final day there was no hot water at all so had to leave (early because we’d been woken up) with no shower. Probably would have been more palatable if it wasn’t extremely expensive.

Cons: I don’t think this hotel is value for money at all; due to the size and the facilities NOT available, it’s more like a fancy bed and breakfast but far more expensive. The only option for breakfast is continental and it isn’t great, especially the coffee. I think they’re should be some sort of hot option available to eat. Also, the entertainment isn’t great and by that I mean, there was no TV aerial so we had to use our Netflix account to watch something on the television and I would have thought that for the price, there would be some sort of Bar for a quick drink?! At least it was clean.

Pros: I stayed here in October 2019, and will stay here every time I visit Oxford. It's very close to the train station, 10 minutes' walk from the bus station, and is clean, comfortable, and very convenient. The kitchen facilities are very well equipped and maintained, as are all the public areas. Beds very comfortable with warm quilts and reading light/charging station at every bedside. Awesome breakfast for a reasonable price. Always meet interesting people here.

Cons: When I made my booking I informed staff we were bringing a baby and would need a cot. They failed to tell us our room would be right next to a nightclub, which blasted music all night. The bed was uncomfortable. The cot was dirty. And then they permitted drunken aggressive customers at 2am (I felt sorry for the staff member who dealt with it) when they really should have had a policy around permitting aggressive drunk customers. It meant we were up for an hour listening to their yelling while they resolved the issue at 2am.

Cons: Bed was two twins put togheter instead of an actual double also for the bed,it was kinda short for a 6'2 feet person but that is my problem i suppose, shower was too small like it was for minions(i had to do squats to not hit the shower head),and also from that room you could hear all the noise of 'party' people from the street after midnight and made sleeping difficult

Cons: Wrong Manager If you are of color or not 100% sure that you will not anything different from their way, be prepared to function well under continuously aggressive insult. On the third evening when I was there, I was rinsing the dishes I used. Suddenly, a guy with shaggy hair came in and told me to use a sponge. I told him peacefully that I had already done that. Then he told me not to touch the dish when washing it. I told him that I need to touch the plate when rinsing it. The manager (perhaps named Rob) came in at this moment and ordered me to do the dishes in the way I was told. He also asked me when I would check out in a coercive tone. I told him how many nights I had booked and the date for checking out. No problem. The shaggy guy then showed me how to do the dishes: he washed a cutting board with the detergent and sponge, put it down, and used a tea towel to dry it directly. He didn’t touch the dish when he used the cloth (It might be different if he washed a big plate). Now it was clear that they do not rinse after using dish detergent; that is why they thought I had not used the sponge with dish liquid before they saw me. I told them to check the video to see if I had used a sponge and detergent. The manager seemed annoyed. He told me he was the owner of the hostel, and I must wash the dish in the way they told me. In the following days, I rinsed all the dishes before I used them because some of the staff and customers, including myself, were coughing, and detergent could be a factor that contributed to the cough. I had to ignore the hatred expressed in the eyes of the manager and the shaggy guy when I did this. This is only one episode among many. Do not imagine because they are out of your imagination.
