Cons:I used my credit card’s insurance guarantee, but nowhere in the reservation did it say that to do do ALSO required a letter from my credit card company stating (1) that they cover the Republic of Ireland, (2) they will cover the lace loss if totaled, and (3) the last 4 numbers of my cc account. So at the Europcar desk I had to make that phone call, wade through a few phone trees, then talk to a couple of humans. I did get the letter (great service by my cc bank!) but I was lucky - that approval process may take up to 24 hours. The Europcar desk agent said this happens “quite a bit” with the brokers because you don’t provide the information about what each rental car company requires to use the cc insurance waiver benefits. I suggest adding a link to your process that will take your to the specific rental car company page for their CDW. I did use the link provided for my rental but it did not say I would have to get the letter etc.Reviewed 26 Oct. 2019

Pros:Simple and easy to use portal. All the details for every car type provided is very usefulCons:The rates of cars during holiday season is very high. Fro enga if I try to book for water now, I still see very high rates.Reviewed 21 Jan. 2018

misinformationPros:the car was clean, along with the facilities where we picked up and dropped offCons:i was quoted roughly 50.00 to rent the car, when we got to the facility, the woman gave us an entirely different price, said she had to completely change our reservation because of kayak and they ay it was booked and that there was no way she would let us leave the lot without buying the insurance, because we would be liable for the 27,000 dollar car.since she said she wouldn't let us leave the lot without paying the insurance we ultimately had to and pay a lot that we didn't expect to pay. we are very disappointed since i love booking through kayak but i guess i can't do it internationally. we lost out on a lot of money we could have used.Reviewed 24 Oct. 2016

Cons:I arrived at Dublin airport to pick up a car a few days before Christmas. I was informed that while I had rented the car, it didnt come with insurance and that I would have to take out insurance. They said that they could arrange it for me. To cut a long story short, they wanted an extra 650 euros on top of the rental fee. Needless to say I left the car in the lot. I went online and found an alternative offer with an alternative company within 15 minuteds that was 400 less than they were asking and that at very short notice. How they can rent out cars withou insurance is beyond me. I wont be going back again.Reviewed 6 Jan. 2016

Taken advantage of...Cons:The cost for the rental and the car I received were not equitable. I made a reservation with the estimated cost of $280 with the CDW for one week. The actual final cost was $445, which is not what I had budgeted for. But here is where they got me in that price: cost of rental for one week with a "standard size vehicle" - $85. Cost of insurance - $360?!? That's hidden cost scamming if you ask me. Additionally, when I got into the vehicle it immediately chimed with a notification of needing to be serviced. Not exactly comforting when renting it for a full week. The car (Opel insignia) was actually a decent car that was suitable to my needs for the week. But definitely not worth the cost as it was the base model with little extras to add to the value. Overall, in disappointed with my experience. I'll probably rent with Avis again next time.Reviewed 27 Apr. 2017

Need better insurance infoPros:Good simple car, really easy return processCons:The insurance requirements were not explained well at all for what was required for an Ireland rental. The prefacing was so poor that I'm still trying to decide if they sold me gold-plated insurance using scare tactics that exploited my lack of local knowledge. Dunno. Insurance per day was about the same as the advertised price of the rental, so the car ended up costing rental times number of days +1. Needless to say, this was surprising. Figure out how insurance works before you book.Reviewed 9 Jul. 2017

Felt like a scam of an experience during pickupPros:Drop-off was easy - had no problems with the car for the weekendCons:1) Took nearly 2 hours to get the car when we arrived at the pickup (which was off-site even though the website said "at terminal") About 75 minutes of this wait time was spent in line getting up to the counter. After getting all of the paperwork signed, took at least another 30 minutes to get the car "ready" for us. Process felt very dis-organized and chaotic 2) Once I was at the counter, I was told that because insurance was not selected during checkout (which would have been a reduced price), I would now need to pay a premium for that insurance at time of pickup. The price of insurance was 3x the price of the car for the weekend - which apparently could have been much less if bought online. This is a scam - there's no reason they shouldn't offer the same rate in person. 3) Was told that it was better to pay in USD instead of EUR - which turns out is also incorrect and ended up costing an additional % due to exchange rates. While this is something I should have been responsible for knowing, if they're going to offer advice it should at least be correct. 4) The car was about what we expected, no complaints about the vehicle itself. 5) Drop-off was fine and worked much smoother than pick-up. Long story short, I'll pay the premium (if there even is one) to rent from a more legit provider next time. Never doing Budget or Payless rentals again.Reviewed 7 Jun. 2016

Cons:Off airport location and very slow process. The cars for all companies are off airport at the same location. Only two agents working the desk.Reviewed 6 May 2016

Watch out for missing charges in your quoteCons:The quote for my car rental did not include taxes, basic insurance coverages and other required charges. What should have been a $250 rental ended up being $570. Before you make your reservation ask if all charges are included in the quote.Reviewed 17 Apr. 2017

Never order from Payless...Pros:Nothing, except booking online, but it was irrelevant as the charges online are nothing compared to when you get to the counter itself to pick up the car.Cons:Rented a large car for over $80. was prepared for car to be around $250.00 with additional charges. However, when we got to the counter they wanted nearly 600 euro...we asked for a smaller car, but were told it would cost the same. It was total BS, so we ended up cancelling and not taking a car at all, and just spent about $100 on taxis for the 9 days. I will never rent from Payless again and i have rented so many cars, but never had such a bad experience at the counter.Reviewed 6 Mar. 2017
