Playa del Carmen hotels near Mamita's Beach Club

Pros: It was clean and beautiful beyond our expectations. The design of the hotel, separating us from the rest of the town, was very much appreciated.

Cons: Yes, the total lack of a solid wall separating the sleeping area from the bathroom. Privacy is a must for a bathroom, and there was none. Even the door for the toilet stall had a huge gap so no privacy there either.

Pros: Great hotel and staff.

Pros: Proximity to 5ta Ave was definitely a plus. Conviniently located at a walking distance from local shops and restaurants. Staff was friendly and the hotel is well maintained.

Cons: Condensation in guest rooms created a minimal odor in the room.

Cons: Drink selection and quality were disappointing. None of their cocktails tasted as good as from local restaurants and bars back in USA. Bartenders don't seem to be eager or well trained in recommendations. out of ingredients to make drinks on menu.

Pros: Food was great. Staff was great. Cantina bar was the best bar we have been to. Really enjoyed the outdoor fitness classes.

Cons: In the room, there was a motion detector light. If you got up at night to use the bathroom, the light would stay on for 5 minutes.

Cons: On entering the hotel we were immediately aware that the hotel was under a major refurb. There were large areas screened off that made it very difficult to navigate the hotel. Every day you awoke to sound of banging and drilling. In the pool area the patio doors on suites were being replaced therefore it was once again constant drilling. The music around the pool was very loud if you enjoy boom boom boom and very loud clientele on holiday this is the place to visit. There is however a smaller quiet area with a pool available. It's very unfair to expect people to spend there hard earned money on holiday to find out you are in the middle of a building site. Very very disappointed we were not informed as we would of reconsidered.

Pros: Very clean hotel. Friendly staff keeps a drink in your hand at all times! The pools were nice & not overly crowded. All the restaurants we ate at were great, I probably gained 10lbs! Had grilled lobster for lunch & dinner about every day!

Cons: The Ocean View I reserved was at least 200-300 yards from the ocean. The food was bland and dry. So bad in fact, I ate outside the facilities 50% of the time even though this was an all-inclusive. In addition, they don't have enough umbrellas at the pool, they only have one brand of beer to drink, the entertainment is severely lacking. Overall, I'd say this resort does not live up to the Hilton brand.

Pros: The staff was very attentive and extremely friendly. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was so festive. Every moment was pleasant.

Cons: Water in pools was cold, check in was slow and terrible service. The Jacuzzi in one of the rooms was not working for most of the stay. It took extra efforts from us to have someone fix the problem. Some staff need better training to understand service is king!

Pros: The staff was excellent. We were impressed by the level of staffing and how courteous and eager to please. The selection of food options was amazing, from walk-up and snack to sit down dinners with fancy a la carte options. Cafe Aroma (coffee shop) was our favorite and we stopped in at least 4 times a day for latte's, breakfast snacks (fantastic juices), gelato or just a quick bite. Marie & Maria's was our favorite restaurant, but all were good and there were too many to try in a week. The drinking of alcohol is obviously a major feature of places like this, but we especially enjoyed the "Game Room" craft cocktail bar off the lobby which was usually wide open and the bartenders were extremely creative in customizing special cocktails based on our directions. We enjoyed them while playing chess, scrabble and Jenga. The location of the resort (good) was so convenient to go into "town" just a few steps from the entrance. Playa Del Carmen has a lot of shopping that will look familiar to american tourists, but also some local options (like cigar shops offering a fantastic selection of Cuban cigars). Also, the WiFi is available EVERYWHERE, including out to the beach which we found remarkable. We paid extra for an Oceanfront room, and got an awesome view overlooking the beach, sunrises and views across to Cozumel.

Cons: The location (bad) is pretty congested. The beach area for this resort is adjacent to one of the Cozumel ferry piers AND a main street into downtown Playa del Carmen so there is a lot of beach traffic unrelated to the guests at the hotel. Also, just about everywhere you go, someone is trying to sell you something (either someone from the resort is trying to sell you added excursions/services or street and beach vendors are pitching their wares). The sargassum issue (seaweed washing up constantly on the beach) was in evidence during our stay. You may enjoy watching all the effort to remove this from the comfort of your chaise lounge, but there is an intermittent odor and it also interferes with swimming off the beach. The pools could have all been 5 degrees warmer, including the hot tub which was only lukewarm during our stay. The only disappointing meal was at the Chef's Table -- the premier restaurant -- where the fixed course tasting menu was not as good as the other restaurants and certainly did not warrant the additional charge. Finally, the pool area was a little too loud -- especially with resort activities and amplified music and staff trying to exhort reluctant guests to participate in you name it games, dancing, etc. We just wanted to some medium volume music and peace/quiet which was not really available in the main part of the resort (we did find a quiet pool later in the week, but it was well away from the Sun/Beach/our oceanfront room).

Cons: Some of the daily activities and the nightly entertainment were pretty cheesy. While this resort was more classy in most ways than many other corny all-inclusives, the entertainment was pretty bad.

Pros: Pleasant, friendly staff. Very clean. Food well above average for an all inclusive resort. Excellent location for access to all Playa Del Carmen has to offer. Nice, wide, sandy beach.

Cons: All inclusive can be a bit too much particularly when the many restaurants and entertainment available in Playa Del Carmen is footsteps away. The "standard" wines left something to be desired and would benefit from an upgrade. The resort can be noisy at times depending on the room's location.

Cons: Breakfast included is only continental breakfast. It should include full breakfast. Valet parking takes too much time to bring the car.

Pros: This is an excellent modern hotel with amazing facilities! The pool on the rooftop is spectacular, beautiful view and services. All the staff are amazing and so helpful. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. Would highly recommend this property to anyone!

Cons: We were traveling 5 friends and we had booked 3 rooms.My friend and I had booked a Deluxe double room with a balcony and a sofa.We all arrived at 10:00pm at the hotel.The receptionist told us our deluxe room had been under construction and without any advance notification he said that our three friends could check in and the two of us needed to go to another hotel,which was located “a few blocks away”.The receptionist said the other hotel was “a better grade”,which was a lie.He said he didn’t have ANY rooms available at In Fashion Hotel.We refused to go to the other hotel and split with our group.The person was very rude and unhelpful.He didn’t want to call his manager neither did he want to resolve the problem.We said we wouldn’t go until he let us talk to the hotel manager.I said I am calling booking.com.All of a sudden he said he can check us in because he “found” a room for us at the hotel.The room was nothing like what we had booked,not even a window,but at least,we stayed with our friends.Nobody ever mentioned for a compensation or giving us back the price difference from the room category.Furthermore,we had two friends who visited us for 10 minutes before we headed for a club and the same guy at the reception charged us $400 pesos because “it 20 minutes past visit time”.Unbelievable!

Cons: Where do I begin. We first checked in and David said our reservation was cancelled. When we finally got our room, I wanted to shower since I had been traveling since the night prior, no hot water. I called and David said it was being taken care of. Ok. I took a cold shower. The next day, the water was hot, and all of a sudden there was no water! The next day, my friend was in the shower, the water stopped coming out. Called again to get it fixed. Water starts again , my friend jumps back in to finish up her shower, Brown dirty water comes out. I fill up a cup of the dirty water and take it down to the front desk. He takes a picture and sends it to his manager. Maintenance comes and fixes the problem. We were then promised that the manager would speak to us t be following day because she was not there, she was at the sister hotel down the street and was getting ready to leave. I asked to be moved to a different room, no other room was available because the boutique was under construction! He offers two rooms on two different floors. I asked to be moved to the sister hotel, he said no rooms were available. So we were stuck in this dirty hotel. The next day, I ask to speak with the manager, "oh she's not working today it's sunday". Really??? Our last day the cable goes out and nobody can come out to fix it today. -The boutique website indicates they have a spa- nope -rooftop bar and pool - closed for construction -Did I mention that there was major construction going on right across the street. The In Fashion Boutique website didn't indicate any of this ws going on. This was the worst vacation I have ever had. No compassion for guest here. I will NOT be returning.
