Cons:I had to cancel my trip due to the coronavirus abd shutdowns in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Sixt was the only supplier that failed to give me 100% refund. They assessed a 3-day penalty and only after my complaint gave me a voucher for the amount they assessed. I live in Thailand and it is doubtful that I can use the voucher within the deadline forced on me.Reviewed 30 Apr. 2020

Pros:Everything about the service was fine until the payment. I was charged for tolls that I had already paid. I cannot get anyone from Sixt to respond to my emails. Very unfortunate as everything else about our rental experience was excellent.Cons:I have been charged for tolls that I had already paid. I brought this to their attention and have not received a response. I've tried customer service as well as billing... nothing! In fact, not even an acknowledgement that my complaint was received.Reviewed 27 Jun. 2018

Headache caused by Kayak (and well, myself) solved by the sixt managerPros:I liked everything about this booking, apart from an issue caused by booking through kayak. The process of pick-up and drop-off was pleasant and straight-forward and the car (Camaro SS V8 Convertible) performed great, being a highlight of my trip to the US.Cons:After booking via kayak and making a reservation via my British Visa Debit card, and everything going through fine i turn up at the branch weeks later, to be informed that a credit card is needed to book a car from my category, and we can't have the convertible. Even though kayak confirmed my booking, it turns out that T&C of the booking state a credit card is needed. Ok, it's my responsibility to check this, but when I give my card details to kayak and receive a booking confirmation I just don't see an issue like this coming. Kayak should provide an appropriate check, to avoid situations like this, because this could have ruined my holiday. Luckily the sixt branch manager was nice enough to make an exception and offered to accept a debit card in exchange for higher deposit. I am eternaly grateful for this, but Kayak: not cool!Reviewed 22 Jun. 2017

Jacked up for bogus damagesCons:After returning the car, Sixt sent me an email to request information about a damage claim. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that I had filed a damage claim. When I refuted that, they looked at the record and determined that the damage claim on file was for a different vehicle than the one I had rented. They then went on To tell me that there was still damage to the car... I asked for details concerning the so-called damage and was sent three photos that were taken in the dark. One of the license plate, one of scratches on the underside of the bumper, and one of the front quarter panel that didn't show any damage. As far as I can tell, the only way to spot this 'damage' is to look under the car. You can't see this from a standing position. I didn't hit anything with this car so I am certain that this damage was pre-existing. How in the world was I to know that this damage existed? I've never had to look at the underside of a rental car before. I'm wondering if this kind of thing is common with Sixt. It's safe to say that I won't be renting with them again.Reviewed 13 Apr. 2017

Pros:Easy location in central San FranCons:Rentals I think generally in the US seem to be overpriced when comparing to Australia. The lady that we dealt with when dropping the car off in San Francisco was very sour and not pleasant at all. Also, I booked a Buick, hoping for an American car on our American trip (was given a Volvo). The lady said that the company specialises in European cars, yet I was initially offered a Buick and the picture on the front of the flier I received was of a Cadillac. In saying this, the Volvo that I did receive was in pristine condition (just a personal preference).Reviewed 12 Sep. 2018
