Pros: "Food - Free dinners even for economy class. Entertainment - Every seat has a TV that offers multiple languages and tons of blockbuster movies from a variety of genres. They also offer many television shows in multiple languages and genres and video games. Roomy- The seats are as non-roomy as any airplane. However, the flight attendants don't give you any trouble when you want to just get up and walk around and talk to people. It gives the plane a roomy atmosphere. You can go to spacier sections of the plane to hang out."
Pros: "Cheap price."
Cons: "The food was not great. No USB charger. The other passengers were noisy."
Pros: "work hard on the cabinet to give us a good environmet"
Cons: "Xian airport walk is unnecessarily long."
Pros: "Amazing crew, very polite and helpful Excellent take off and landed super smooth - koodoos to the cockpit team The seats on the aircraft from Beijing to Vancouver was much more comfortable that the aircraft before ( Vancouver to Ho Chi Minh ) but I think that it’s because it is a newer aircraft"
Cons: "The food quality was very poor and portion too small. This could utilize some improvements"
Pros: "Seat very comfortable"
Cons: "Need better food quality and choices."
Pros: "I booked thru a search engine more than 3 months before the flight but was not allowed to select my seat. I was seated at the last seat in the middle. The trip was long, more than 12.hrs and being in the aisle would have been comfortable. It is not my 1st time to ride the airline . ."
Cons: "Not being able to select a.seat prior to the trip."
Pros: "Not a lot."
Cons: "Food was bland & dull... the same at every meal. Crew did not seem to understand the difference between chicken & duck. EG; "It's chicken & rice"... if it's chicken, why does your colleague say duck? Seats are cramped. No control of your personal environmental comfort - no overhead air nozzle. Crew slow to respond to seat call for assistance."
Cons: "The same thing as above"
Pros: "Air China does have excellent economy class prices on trans-Pacific flights. The planes themselves are not bad, and the flight attendants have been good. Overall it could be worse."
Cons: "Both their website and their check-in staff (at Beijing airport especially) can be terrible and frustrating. it is even difficult to manage flights that you book directly on their own website. The check-in staff are grumpy at best. Catering is as bad as it gets. The airline food is a throwback to the 1970s. Drink selection is poor--no fizzy water/soda water/seltzer. Only regular water, coke and sprite, and no spirits at all. Very bad wine and beer with only one choice for each: Great Wall wine, which is sweet and gross, and warm slimy swill beer. The airline could do better by upgrading the website system and having better staff training for customer service."
Pros: "Ran on time"
Cons: "Food and drink options are limited"
Pros: "Overall better than I expected but some areas need improvement. Food, entertainment and crew service."
Pros: "On time and great service. Comfortable (with a neck pillow), and good entertainment with recent movies."
Cons: "No charging ports on plane and no vegetarian options for meals."
Pros: "My trip started off with airplane problems from the beginning. From my flight being delayed multiple times by air china to the overly packed united to the confusion of the non updated confirmation numbers or the e-ticket number. Even on the day I left upon arriving to the airport my confirmation number they had just given me after all the prior problems still didn't work. Air china had mediocre food with okay entertainment except my headset jack on the TV was broke and I couldn't watch anything. On the last air china flight from Bejing to Bangkok. I couldn't even charge my phone, watch any entertainment and basically was just stuck with no WiFi. Justfly wouldn't compensate for the changes on their end and said I myself would have to ask the airlines for compensation which the.the airlines directed me no where for compensation or even to upgrade my seat. Now I'm finally in Thailand but I'm scared of my return."
Pros: "The crew was very friendly, spoke great English, even though my wife was happy to translate, but was not needed. Good food."
Cons: "The plane was quite outdated, and so the entertainment system. However, it was comfortable to sleep."
Cons: "The flight was very hot the entire 12 hours, no individual air controls were present. We asked for a beer when the first drink service came around and were told only juice or water was available, while the next row of seats were served multiple beers without issue. After the service was over we rang the attendant button, it was immediately shut off and no one came to assist us. Rows ahead and behind us ran an attendant and were served. We asked again for a beer and were told they didn’t have it (these were all by the same attendant that was serving our area, who was liberally serving others in our area) We eventually got up to and went to the service station, where 5-7 other passengers were standing, helping themselves to beers in the carts and pouring themselves wine while flight attendants stood there chatting with them and continuing to ignore us. Eventually we were able to get ones attention and were able to secure two beers, after being told Mulltuple times that they didn’t have them, while other passengers were being served multiple at a time, or helping themselves to the beverage carts in the service areas. Staff was unprofessional and the entire flight was a battle for service. I have flown many 12+ hour flights and never had any stress or issues whatsoever, this was a new and frankly terrible experience. I am wishing my flight home was not with this airline, as I am afraid of a repeat."
Pros: "Price was great, but plane smelled like old, dirty carpet. There was a video playing but you couldn't really hear it with the provided headphones."
Cons: "No Wi-Fi. Lack of wine selection."
Pros: "Vert spacious and comfortable. Kind staff made me feel comfortable throughout the 10hr flight."
Cons: "no in flight entertainment, food was horrible"
Pros: "Pleasant, uneventful, and meal service."
Cons: "No individual entertainment, but comfortable seating. Good trade off."
Pros: "Flight attendants are friendly and accommodating. Willing to meet all my reasonable needs. Meals are Ok."
Cons: "Seats are a little small considering my body size."
Cons: "On 11/29, the flight from Beijing to San Francisco was delayed because the incoming plane was late. All passengers were greeted at SFO with instructions for compensation. The instructions read "To claim the currency compensation, passengers must have a debit card issued in mainland China and marked with Union Pay!" If you are not a Chinese resident, you are out of luck!!! Americans be warned: Fly Air China and be treated a second class passengers!"
Cons: "Flight was delayed overnight 6 hours, no communication whatsoever. No attempt to help make connection or apologize.. Service is mediocre at best. Seats are tiny, little to no leg room."
Cons: "My main large suitcase did not make the transfer; plane was late arriving Bejing"
Pros: "We were given a bulk head seat and an exit row, but this was due to us not being able to check-in early because the website was erroring out."
Cons: "While the exit row provided extra room, it was right in the middle and the bulk head was extremely stuffy. My feet ended up swelling. Only perhaps got 3 hours of sleep."
Cons: "Food was bland. Flight attendants are extremely rude."
Pros: "There was a lot of food"
Cons: "There were no vegetarian options"
Pros: "I liked be provided with a blanket, pillow and entertainment system."
Cons: "they cancelled my flight connecting in beijing to shanghai. no reason this just happens all the time in china. they lost my luggage for hours. they didn't have another flight until the next day. and i was traveling alone meeting my husband in shanghai. so i was just stuck in beijing. they were incredibly unhelpful and unconcerned that i was alone with no luggage, without a phone that worked since i was getting a chinese sim from card from my husband in shanghai, no hotel, transportation etc."
Cons: "Horrible service, part of the ceiling light came off, got so hot when we were boarding - I was nervous that there was a big issue with the plane"
Cons: "Gate crew did not provide any information about delayed departure times. We were told the plane would depart at 20:10 and ended up departing at 22:35. This was already several hours behind the originally scheduled departure time of 15:25."
Cons: "I've flown over seas several times before. Typically, in my experience, the oversea carriers provide an extra bit of leg room for the long distance travel. Air China apparently doesn't feel the need though. My legs were crammed up in the seats and I felt like I was on an 11 hour budget airliner flight. I checked in for my flight as early as possible, but was told there were not emergency exit rows available. Upon entering the plane, I saw the emergency exit row was filled with elderly people who's feet barely touched the floor. In the case of an emergency, it is supposed to be the responsibility of those in the exit row to assist passengers off the plane. I'm young, able bodied, 6'6" and willing to help, but I was denied an exit row seat? Instead my legs have to spill out into the aisle? It wasn't easy for the flight attendants either, because their service carts kept hitting my legs. I didn't mean to make their job harder, but my legs couldn't physically fit in the seat I was given."
Pros: "Food was okay"
Cons: "Seats are uncomfortable, the entertainment screen is very laggy and unresponsive. The options were VERY poor and very few."
Cons: "Couldn't check-in online from Beijing. Food is barely edible. Airline stewardess were not the friendliest people. Seats were lumpy. Bathroom faucet was corroded."
Pros: "Rude crew. Have had better food on other airlines. Wasn't allowed to listen to music on my iPod at any point during the 9 plus hour flight. Flight was late leaving Beijing, just as it was when i was there 12 days before waiting for another flight one of their flights to Manila and missed my connection flight in Vancouver because of it. Couldn't wait to land and get off the plane."
Cons: "Please see above...All 4 of Air China flights to and from JFK to Beijing & Beijing to Bangkok were delayed... one of them over an hour another over two hours another one over three and a half hours and another one over an hour and a half. Missed even their own connecting flights! The seats were cramped and tight the food was horrible, really quite disgusting. They walkthrough very quickly with a water bottle and cups when I really feel they should mandatory pour you water on such long flights if you are not sleeping. If you do not get their attention they just pass you. They also should conserve and or do recycling they go through a lot of waste of cups, utensils xcetera. The movies they offered were mainly Chinese. The headphones work huge and not adjustable, they kept falling off. Also when I needed to change my flight due to an emergency I was on hold multiple times with several disconnections for a total of over six and a half hours over a two-day time span. Finally got through when I called the insurance company could barely understand there customer service person. They ended up calling me back left a voicemail saying that I was all set for me to call back I went through the whole process again of being on hold for three hours and then get disconnected. When I went to check in and get my boarding pass in Bangkok to fly back they said I didn't have a ticket they pulled me out of line and waited for about a half an hour and they finally printed me a ticket. I also have the experience as to when I was sleeping as most of the plane was sleeping approx 95% there were a whole bunch of Asian people standing up gathered around the restroom talking very very very loudly! I finally called for the attendant and reminded her that I paid for my ticket too and I would like to be able to rest and if she could ask them to sit/quiet down, she did but it only lasted so long... I could hear it completely through the headphones with the music. So if you decide to fly Air China I would definitely make sure that your connecting flights are far apart, pay for business or first class, preorder your meal/ bring your own food, bring your own headphones and do not plan on changing your flight- so don't get hurt on your vacation/travel. Btw.. they don't even serve breakfast or offer coffee... it's all Chinese food either chicken beef or pork with rice or noodle. GOOD LUCK!"
Pros: "It was okay. The crew was fine, food was okay,"
Cons: "Comfort. Maybe because im a lil bit large, should be more choices on entertainment"
Pros: "The crew were really nice and pleasant Leg space was a better than Mumbai to Beijing"
Cons: "The Air -china crew English need to be improved The non-veg food was a little mediocre"
Cons: "The staff were rude and over all air china is quite disorganized. Their website barely works and it was impossible to get any real answers out of the agents on the phone. I tried to request a celiac or gluten free meal and it took 3 phone calls to get an agent who was aware there were even choices. Also, as I'm aware I'm flying in another country I would have like to see more English speaking competence amongst staff flying an international flight from Asia to Canada and back. The staff were not helpful. Like drones with no time for you. This to me is not service. And an airline is providing a service."
Pros: "Reasonable food. Old chairs but OK."
Cons: "Crazy rules - can't use phones in airplane mode to read books? So so food. Terrible entertainment."
Pros: "Great comfortable flight. Good service and food"
Cons: "Going down the stairs from the plane to the tarmac."
Pros: "I arrived safely."
Cons: "Communication was challenging as my first language is english. Entertainment centre would lock up and freeze for all flights (I took 4). The plane seemed old and a bit sketchy. There was no boarding call, I just happened to be standing where I needed to go."
Pros: "I enjoyed the entertainment offered, and the hot jasmine tea was yummy."
Cons: "They did not give us enough water for a 12 hour flight. They only came around four times – once before the two meals and once after – and they only filled up the small cup about half way each time. I left the plane dehydrated after the first flight. On the return trip, I bought a bottle of water in the terminal to take on the plane, but they confiscated it at the gate. I've never had that happen before, especially since I bought it past security in the Beijing airport. Since they took it, I probably annoyed the flight attendants with how much I asked for water, but I didn't really care."
Cons: "When I ask crew need one pillow, She told will check, and then no answer. Maybe she forgot ！"
Cons: "Entertainment is poor"
Pros: "The attendant tried very hard to help me fix the broken headphone jack, and when it didn't work, she gave me another seat that had a working jack and way more legroom."
Cons: "Every time the entertainment was paused for an announcement, it turned the volume WAY up, so loud that it hurt my ears and every time i had to tear the earphones off. I understand not wanting to let people mute the announcements, but minimum volume should be around 30-40%, not 70%"
Cons: "Can't reserve a seat on line even"
Cons: "Food and service. They need to improve in many areas."
Pros: "I liked the room on the airbus jet more than the room on the Boeing jet going over to Begging we were in a 737 that was squeezed sideways.. I liked the spac3e tha5t one less seat across provided."
