Cons: "Unfortunately, through no fault of the flight crew or gate crew, we got one of the few remaining planes in the fleet that are so old that they can't fit a full carry-on bag in the overhead bins or under the seats. Larger carry-on items had to be checked through to final destination, which made a lot of passengers upset -- either because they were business people who needed to be able to work on the flight, or they had important baby gear in there that they would need before that, or they were traveling far away using multiple airlines and were rightly worried about lost luggage."

After going through customs we asked again where to go for continuing flight and finally got to our location and they were just starting to board. Cons: "Pre-boarding wait is extremely long with all the different groups. Seems you always have a problem with carry on luggage so those in Group 5 will always be forced to check-in unwillingly. Staff taking ticket is unfriendly at gate - i was YELLED at because I had a thin garment bag along with my small international carry on and purse. it was considered 3 bags .... since when does a dress inside a garment bag warrant a full other carry on? It could have folded into my carry on but the purpose of a garment bag is so you do not have to wrinkled it in your luggage. He moved me to the side and told me I needed to check it in, I was NOT allowed to hang it in the plane b/c i'm not a business passenger. WTF. After 10 min of waiting on the side I folded up my garment bag and shoved it in my purse - after another 5 min he gave me my luggage and told me to head toward the plane. Worst. Flight. Ever"

I talked to the crew about suggestions for finding food, a good place to wait, and suggestions for seeing the city. They were fantastic. Suggested the 747 bus so I could see Montreal and helped point me in the right direction for where to be comfortable as I waited for the city to wake up. Thank you all so much!!"

I paid $35 . Cons: "We were issued boarding passes with unassigned seats for myself and my husband even though we checked in 23 hrs before flight. Instead got GTE ~ we were told by agent at baggage drop that the flight was oversold and this means we're on standby so we have to go wait by the gate because he didn't know if we would get on the plane. So we stood for 2 hrs at the front of a line with 38 other standby passengers only to be told 10 mins before boarding, when someone FINALLY showed up, that we should go sit down, they're going to call by last names and to not worry because everyone has a seat!!! Utter shambles! Couldn't someone come out and tell us this earlier??!! Rude, uncourteous, unapologetic staff. Common courtesy would see people standing in line and deal with them first! One passenger was told she should have booked earlier although she bought at the same time as us - 3 months ago! Another couple 1 week ago and another since June. So the reason given that the tickets were bought late is untrue! We asked an agent why Air Canada would oversell tickets and was told it was business! Told him this was very dishonest of Air Canada, only to get back a very rude and frankly surprising answer- "I'm sure you do dishonest things at your work too!!" Not one Air Canada employee in this whole process took the time out to treat us like paying customers, or bothered to realise we have lives to get back to. My husband works for Parliament and had to be at work the next morning and this undue stress thinking that he wouldn't get to work caused him to experience a migraine of which he is a sufferer. I have flown countless times on various air lines and have never been treated like this before. After this experience I'm seriously considering this to be the last time I ever fly with Air Canada and will definitely be sharing my experience with colleagues, friends and family.
