Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "I lost my phone in the taxi and Javier offered his cellphone and spoke to the taxi driver to get it returned to me (I didn’t speak Spanish) before my flight."
Cons: "Flight was delayed. On board, the seats were too small as per usual with Air Canada’s seating configuration. They tend to pack the cabin with as many passengers with little room."
Pros: "The food was very good."
Cons: "The entertainment system on the plane could be better, on the flights back from Venice to Minneapolis there were no personal screens for each seat. Instead you had to have a phone. Also, there was no wi-fi."
Pros: "Good legroom,"
Cons: "Older aircraft, tray tables not level, rear washrooms no water, delayed departure"
Pros: "The airplane was new and comfortable. Staff were all very helpful and friendly."
Cons: "The flight did not take off on schedule for some unknown reason. That along with a little turbulence on the way back to Toronto made for a longer flight."
Pros: "One flight attendant in particular. Wish I knew her name to commend her. Also, had a bassinet for my grandson!! Frequent beverages offered, especially water. Allowed to move seats once in the air!! Able to help my daughter with her baby. Chicken dish was actually really good."
Cons: "No movie screens at all!? Odd; especially for an International flight. Check bathroom paper supplies more frequently. Ran out of paper towels two bathrooms. No fault of yours, but the Venice airport was a nightmare. I am use to airports in the US and was shocked how long the line was to get through to our gate. We couldn’t even find the end because it wrapped around like an “S”. Surprised we had to print our boarding pass (but was never asked for it); couldn’t do a mobile boarding pass."
Pros: "I got to sleep flat on three seats as it was half empty."
Cons: "It was an half empty aircraft and I still had to pay for my seat."
Pros: "Not much. The entertainment choices were good, but other than that, things were mediocre at best."
Cons: "Boarding was disorganized. Seating was crammed. No priority was honored (being silver members who always get boarding on Zone 2, we were put in zone 4. The food was mediocre to poor, and beer or wine were not complimentary, even though this was an intercontinental trip."
Pros: "Spacious seating. Attentive Stewardesses. Bathroom located close to seating area but was separated by the galley. That was a plus - no odor, no long lines by your seat."
Cons: "Use of ipads for entertainment rather than installed screens"
Pros: "Can't keep to their schedule. I was supposed to arrive home at 15:50 pm. Try 1 am. Every time our plane came in they sent it to another city or switched our gate. All if their flights were delayed. Customer service was non existent. We were treated worse than animals."
Pros: "The food they served was the best airplane food I've had."
Cons: "They did not allow online check-ins which caused mass confusions and lines. We were still running to the gate at 1250 (even though the flight was supposed to take off at 1245) after arriving at the airport at 1015. No screens for a transatlantic flight--- WTH?!"
Pros: "The snack selection is excellent"
Cons: "No complaints"
Pros: "female captain"
Cons: "Same as above. Flight delayed by 45 minutes. No explanation given as to why... no inclement weather or other issues that day."
Pros: "One of our meals was outstanding."
Cons: "One of our meals was horrible. It was a snack but could have been better. Also, after a great meal, attendants never collected garbage until a pax starting doing so & was told to stop. It was a good 2 hours after being served!"
Cons: "Delayed flight"
Pros: "I don't have much that I liked besides the fact that it got me from Venice to Montreal."
Cons: "The service from the attendants is probably the worst that I've ever had. I had to ring someone and remind someone twice that I received the wrong customs form. Finally I had to walk back to the end of the plane where I saw four stedeardesses giggling over someone's phone. I missed one of the meals because I was dozing off and when I requested some food I was told that there was none left. The entertainment is subpar. You need a mobile or device with he app already installed. And even so the movies and shows are outdated and not very entertaining at all. On top of that, both legs of my flight my outlet was not working and not charging my device. Air Canada rouge- never again!"
Cons: "lack of seat/leg room...."
Pros: "Friendly crew, no delays"
Cons: "The food was so awful and very unhealthy! No TV for entertainment on our 9 hour international flight was absurd. Lastly, we purchased the tickets together, when we checked in, our seats were not together on both the flight to and from Italy, thankfully other people switched seats with us. When we asked the flight crew at the desk to switch seats, they couldn't both times. We definitely will not be flying Air Canada in the future."
Cons: "The entertainment consisted of an IPad that you had to rent, and the attendants were not cheerful not helpful.... Just in a constant hurry."
Pros: "Flight left and arrived on time and crew was courteous and efficient. Food was surprisingly good."
Cons: "There was no entertainment, period, unless you wanted to rent an IPad-type device for $10 to view movies and such. Jeez, on a transatlantic flight? It's not the fault of the crew, of course. It's the front office where I suspect there might be those who are a tad bit removed from the front lines"
Pros: "Crew from Venice to Toronto was good, but crew Toronto to Denver was uncaring. She would rather sit in the back and knit rather than help out a cramped passenger in the last row who couldn't even sit forward because the passenger in front on me reclined into my lap. The Lat seat doesn't recline so I was forced to sit sideways, feet in aisle while people heading to the bathroom head to step over me. She did nothing to help."
Cons: "Stewart from Toronto to Denver could care less about my comfort. Being in the last seat, unable to recline, I had the passenger in front of me recline into my lap and refused to adjust his seat. She ignored the situation and went in the back behind her curtain to knit while I sat sideways the entire flight with my feet in the aisle. People going to the bathroom were forced to step over my feet, but at least they were sympathetic"
Pros: "great lunch and very nice flight crew."
Cons: "flight was long but that is how one gets from europe to america. worst part of the trip was going thru USA customs in Toronto. They get a D- for incompetence.... but Air Canadaa had nothing to do with this...."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "Over crowded uncomfortable seats No entertainment only to purchase an IPad or download an app. Too small if a plane for that flight. Will not fly Rouge service sgain"
Cons: "I hour layover from Newark to Montreal to get a connecting flight to Paris. I almost missed my plane. I didn't pickup my luggage for custom inspection , luckily it arrived on the destination place. I was so stressed out only 2 minutes left and they would have closed the door."
Cons: "Worst food ever on any airline I've been on"
Pros: "Quick operation OK for the small aircraft we had but this was a long journey from Venice, Italy to Toronto. Uncomfortable and boring. Was offered water frequently :-) at least didn't have to ask or pay for it."
Cons: "Food was not good at all. Snacks are bad and only sugar-laden cookies. No entertainment available unless you have Air Canada app. How were you supposed to know? It was too late by the time you were on board! Otherwise pay $10 to rent their iPads for it LOL"
Pros: "No in seat entertainment console. You had to use your own device or rent one. No recent movies, just older ones."
Pros: "Only enjoyed entertainment"
Cons: "Quality & type of food Boarding sprocess Lack of carry on space Unprofessional crew Old plain- didn't realize still in operation Small seats Little to no leg room Fact you actually had to pay for rental of iPads Terrible entertainment system"
Pros: "Fast flight"
Cons: "No leg room Overbooked Bad choice of movies"
Pros: "luggage intact and well kept"
Cons: "No good refreshment on flight"
Pros: "The crew and food were fine."
Cons: "They don't adequately warn you that you need to download an app to use entertainment system before you get on board. The wifi in the airport is terrible so not able to download app for all devices. The entertainment choices were very limited. For such a long flight, they should add more choices. Would not recommend Air Canada for light to/from Europe."
Pros: "Boarding a 10 hours flight without any form of entertainment is not fun. All the could manage was rent out iPad for cost of 10 dollars for to watch installed video. They also screwed up my itinerary without informing me"
Cons: "Nothing"
Cons: "Couldn't watch movies unless on iPhone"
Cons: "1. They loan out iPads for entertainment which you had to pay for because the plane was an older model and there were no individual tv screens available. This should be a free service with the amount of fare I paid for the trip. 2. Also on my way to Rome, flying air canada, too, my husband and i fell asleep and missed our meals. When I asked the crew for my meals they said "it's unsafe to give it to me anymore." But that's what refrigerators are for - to store food safely for passengers. I just don't buy their reasoning. It's just an excuse not to serve passengers. Needless to say my husband and I went hungry until they served breakfast. 3. From LA to Toronto & Montreal back to LA, was a 4-6 hr flight where they don't feed you or give you blankets. When I asked why blankets are not available, the crew said, "because that's all what we'll be doing is handing out blanket." The crew should realize that providing comfort for their passengers is a huge part of their service they should provide. This was my first time flying with air canada and I was very disappointed. Air Canada will definitely not be on my top airlines to fly next time."
Pros: "The tv for each individual person"
Cons: "Always late."
Pros: "Crew was nice. Landing was good. I liked the wifi entertainment portal."
Cons: "The flight was delayed 1.5 hours due to problems checking people in. I waited in like for 2.5 hours just to check my bag. I was a disaster all around. The seats also didn't have screens; on a long flight, you have to have entertainment screens..."
Pros: "Food"
Cons: "Mechanical problems and missed flight to Milan. Then next day flight to Milan delayed. Air canada put us up in cheep hotel with minimal food vouchers."
Pros: "I liked the meal that was served and that if you didnt want to pay for the ipad, you could access TV on your phone."
Cons: "I didnt like that there were not individual TVs for my 10 hour fllght. I would have appreciated the entertainment on such a long flight, especially the movies which I could not access without the app. I also felt that more snacks should have been provided."
Pros: "Never thought Canada air is so bad in international air services. Would never use Canada Air for my international travel in the future."
Cons: "Bad food, worst attitude of crew combined with no entertainment in flight during almost 10 hours of flying time."
Pros: "Venice airport is in a chaotic state of reconstruction and seems to lack information services for connecting flights. As a result, I was directed to the Air Canada check in counter, which then made it necessary to re-enter the security line, followed by a massive passport line. Each line was backed up to the limits. Only by begging people in line was I able to make it to my connecting flight seconds before they closed the door. I was the last to enter during "Last Call." Nevertheless, the crew of the Air Canada flight were outstanding. No entertainment except iPad movies for $10.00."
Cons: "Simple mistakes which could and should have been avoided made us late. The food and drink service should not have been a charge on such a long flight."
Pros: "Very nice flight attendants and ground crew. Made the experience easy."
Cons: "Leg room on Air Canada Rouge flight was less than I expected."
Pros: "We missed our connecting flight due to a delay and we were automatically rebooked on the next fight. On an US airline, we would have o stand in line to get that done. We traveled on Rouge, from Venice to Montreal, and it was better than the reviews I had prior. There was an outlet to charge electronic devices and the app was easy to use."
Cons: "The delay was due to getting baggage loaded. 1.5 hours. There is an issue there."
Pros: "The crew was very nice and helpful."
Cons: "No TVs, you had to download an app to watch movies (could you at least have warned us this was the case? The flight was over 9 hours!) Gate was ridiculously crowded, boarding was chaotic, left over an hour late and my friend missed her connecting flight."
Pros: "On premium economy, the service and food were excellent!"
Cons: "Chairs are so uncomfortable! They are just not ergo. Also the iPad entertainment system causes neck strain since you are looking down for a few hours at a time."
Pros: "We had a pretty uneventful flight from Tampa to Toronto using Air Canada. That is a good thing. The airline offers complementary juices and drinks of the nonalcoholic variety. No complaints."
Cons: "Air Canada cancelled a flight from New Orleans to Toronto causing our entire itinerary to be rebooked and without a replacement flight. We ended up not getting the Air Canada flight back and having to go with United"
Pros: "Great flight crew, amazing plane, nice food and drinks, entertainment system, and pillows + blankets offered! A+"
Cons: "I find it very strange that you have to pay extra to ship a bag. Air Canada advertises that all fees are included in their fares. However you are getting hit at the back end after you make your booking. Just about everyone travels with a bag to ship. After having to Leave fort Mcmurray due to loosing our home we had to pay an extra fee to ship three bags. It does not do much for the image of Air Canada be a leader in the industry and be up front all the way."
