Cons: "The flight was delayed 4 hours. At the time when we were supposed to depart, nobody from the airline was at the counter outside the designated gate. I asked couple of people from Avianca and they told me the flight was departing at the original time, which was not correct. The flight first was pushed to 1 am departure (3 hours delay) and then to 4 am departure (4 hours delay). After several people asked about the flight and an hour after the original departure time, the airline finally had staff at the counter indicating the new departure time and apologizing for the inconvenience. The airline offered a meal at the airport, but I didn't find this through their representatives, but through another passenger. The gate changed about 5 times, which I understand is not under the airline control, but part of this probably could have been prevented with better coordination. My first day in La Paz was horrible, as I couldn't even sleep waiting for my flight to depart. Thank you Avianca!"

Cons: "Departure time was 14:47. To be in waiting area 13:47. We started "boarding" (getting on the bus) at app 14: 17 or so. That's when the "fun" started. Bus arrives at plane, which apparently was all but ready for boarding (the stairs were not at plane. Must have waited (with two buses behind us) for half hour or more. Then the stairs were moved to the plane for boarding (or so we thought). Bus driver moved to the stairs, but cocky co-pilot found it more important to argue with bus driver. At certain point, we drove off again, with one bus following and other bus, believe it or not, went on plane. Back at the waiting room, absolutely NOBODY provided info. Police was brought into the waiting area for "comfort". Back to the plane at 16:00 or something. So far, no excuses, or explanations. At certain point the cocky co-pilot and captain were "exchanged" for new cockpit crew. At that time it seemed the announcement system wasn't working properly. Engineers on board etc. At 17:17, 2.5 hrs after scheduled departure, the captain welcome's passengers. As if NOTHING has happened, no apologies and/or explanations for 2.5 hr delay!!!! It is shocking how the crew dealt with this and the complete lack of respect for its passengers!!!!"
Pros: "Ticket said I had to check in at the airport during my layover while waiting for my second flight. When I tried to check in online, it said there was a problem with my ticket... but luckily staff in the airport managed my baggage transfer quickly and I was able to check in no problem. Unneeded stress, but all worked out in the end."

Pros: "Overall this is one of the best airlines I often travel with. Their cost is economic compared to the other airlines flying and their customer service attention is one of the best. They always have food and drinks available to people and obviously have a priority when it comes to children. Their seats in economy are somewhat spacious and international flights always have good entertainment with their touch screen. You can listen to music, watch movies and even TV shows without any extra cost."
Cons: "The direct flight to Miami was postpone at 1:00 in the morning. They sent me to Panama and then to Miami in the last back seat of the 2 flights. My suitcase is still in Panama. Not delivered in Miami. The flight Panama-Miami was really dirty. What a disaster!"

Cons: "I took two separate flights with Avianca three months apart from NY to Ecuador. BOTH times the airline had delays of over 3 hours. The first time the connecting flight was canceled and all of us passengers were running around the airport trying to find out where to go. The new flight didn't leave until much later that night. Three months later, the connecting flight back to new York was delayed from 3pm to after 6pm and had a gate change without notification by the airline to the waiting passengers. I was not the only one upset by this. We were not compensated in any way for these delays. Quality of service seems to not be high on their list of priorities at all. I WILL NEVER fly Avianca again and I want at least a partial refund! I strongly suggest going with a competitor if you can."

Even though I am an American citizen.And when you receive the shot you must stay in Colombia for 10 days before you can leave the country.i don't understand why one is allowed to purchase a ticket from Colombia to Costa Rica without proof of the required vaccination.I didn't even receive a simple notification to receive the vaccination before my trip.Now I am still in Colombia.Already down an extra unexpected $500 and will miss work back in the states for not being able to return home on time.An airbnb reservation will be lost in Costa Rica which was prepaid for 5days.Worst of all I'm stuck in Colombia spending unexpected money to survive and will not be able to visit my PAID trip to Costa Rica.So unfair and a hole I will have to dig myself out of when and if Im able to make it back home"

Crew gave us stupid explanations to justify charging us like you are in the boarding group 7 which we never asked to be placed. It’s the airline business to choose some passengers to charge $100000 Colombian pesos for getting bags, and then after being forced to pay for the bags crew doesn’t give a receipt so we wouldn’t have proof of the fraude. Charging for bags is at discretion of crew. When buying the tickets for me and my family I checked the policy about luggage and the website doesn’t state about being charged for getting regular size bags like ours."

Cons: "The boarding process was pointless While this is a quirk of the airport, the airline should change their procedure for this scenario. LATAM splits passengers into different groups: first class, special needs, priority because you paid, everybody else. That's fine at most airports. At Santiago's airport, however, passengers ride a bus from the gate to the plane, mixing up all the groups on the bus, so what's the point? Worse, special needs passengers were the first to get on the bus, but end up last to get off screwing over the elderly and those with small children. What a system!"

Electronic check in system was not working twice, perhaps due to international minors, had to wait in line in order to check in. The boarding pass for our connection from Rio to Miami was not given to us in Sao Paulo when we had to manually check in. As a result, we had to exit the secured area in Rio to go check in manually again for our connection and then go through security and customs again."

Although I understand it was considered an international flight, I wasn't expecting a full blown meal. SUPER GREAT!"
