Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews

Cons: "Everything in all the process. The airplane is the worst"
Pros: "It was just a stress and hassle free experience."
Cons: "Nothing really."
Cons: "Air Canada continues to underwhelm me. We left the gate 35 minutes late despite having everyone on board. Then off to de-ice where we sat with a truck outside for ten minutes they did work. It was like they were having a coffee break. The flight and board service was exceptional. Baggage delay of a"
Pros: "Great staff!"
Pros: "Pleasant Flight attendants and good pilot."
Cons: "No free drinks at all! Cheap airline"
Pros: "New plane in the excellent condition. Leg room in economy not bad. Crew friendly and efficient. Boarding worked well."
Cons: "The main meal was pretty dreadful. Grilled chicken with what I think was mashed potato, but it was difficult to be sure. Watery and tasteless. Accompanied bizarrely by a tomato sauce (which did taste of something). Hard to identify the ethnicity."
Cons: "See above - seats worn out, entertainment worn out, Crew battling old tired aircraft. Massively overpriced. Bring on WestJet direct to Ottawa."
Cons: "They changed planes and the seats I paid for at reservation were different on the new plane. No warning!!"
Cons: "Rude staff , flight was delayed, child sitting next to me kept kicking me and his mother wouldn't say anything to him staff also didn't do anything."
Pros: "The seating was good and the pilot was friendly."
Cons: "There was not a good movie selection and there was not a lot of information regarding the altitude and there was not very much warning during turbulence."
Pros: "Seats were comfy, inflight entertainment was solid. Flight attendants were great all around."
Cons: "Flight was delayed 4 hours, caused me to miss my connecting flight in Vancouver. I landed at 6pm and they told me my flight would leave at 8am the next day even through multiple flights were available to get me to portland that evening."
Cons: "crew was rude and unhelpful with delayed flight"
Cons: "I want to seriously complain about Air Canada and Kayak booking systems. I reserved the tickets to Shanghai but there were no place reminding me that I need Canadian VISA to connect flights between two Canadian cities. I am a Chinese citizen who is working at USA and not allowed to change flights in Canada based on the newest government rules. However, in both booking systems, there is no reminders. In my opinion, either Kayak or Air Canada can add a simple checkbox to let the potential guest choose his or her nationality status, then this kind of trouble can be mitigated. We talked and called Air Canada people but no buying. They kept saying this is our responsibility. We bought United Airline tickets at the last minutes and cost us about $2,400 because we cannot wait to get back China to prepare our wedding ceremony and US Visa interview. We are very very disappointed with Air Canada and will keep complaining about this issue. As a service supplier, how cannot you think on behalf of a customer? The air company definitely knows more about government rules than a customer. We did have mistakes of not researching government rules. However, the biggest mistake was we trusted Air Canada and Kayak who we thought had taken care of those kind of issues for us. Thanks."
Pros: "Arrived on time."
Cons: "Luggage took too long to arrive."
Cons: "My direct flight was cancelled and rebooked with a connecting flight."
Pros: "Boarding was excellent, most of the staff except one was excellent. The flight was smooth. Got hooked on a new series that I started watching on the plane."
Cons: "The wait time between flights on the way home was brutal but you expect that if you are flying on points. What made it worse was that I had to leave the secure area and collect my bags then wait 8 hours in the airport only to go through security again. On top of that trying to get my baggage tag there was a female agent that should have retired 100 years ago directing people like it was our fault she still had to work. If you can't be nice you should not be in customer service."
Pros: "Finally getting off the plane."
Pros: "This time I didn't have to pick up my luggage in Toronto, it was lucky!"
Cons: "One hour late"
Cons: "Flight was delayed"
Pros: "Very smooth"
Cons: "Gave us good seats"
Cons: "The flight was late."
Pros: "For some reason the seats didn't seem as cramped as usual. There were no long delays."
Cons: "We didn't get aisle seats. We didn't expect the food offerings to be great, and we weren't disappointed. We would have preferred that Trump not be president on our arrival. Maybe next time."
Cons: "Instructions on Air Canada's website when you Google "how early should you get to the airport flying Canada to USA" say you should get there 3 hours ahead of time. For a 6:40 flight I got to the airport at 3:40, as instructed, and checkin wasn't even open. Per Air Canada's website "You should arrive at the airport three (3) hours before your flight's scheduled departure time. Pre-board security screening for departures to the U.S. opens at 3:00 AM. Exception: 20 minutes for flights departing from Toronto City Airport (YTZ)." Check in staff told me I should have gotten there 2 hours ahead. This is very conflicting. Considering I was heading to a 10 hour trade show, believe me that hour of sleep I lost between 2:30 when I had to get up for this flight and 3:30 when I could have gotten up sure was missed. Correct and consistent instructions to passengers go a long way."
Pros: "The plane is spacious and comfortable. The crew is quite nice."
Cons: "Air Canada overbooks their flights. So if you don't pay extra for your seat, (even if you get to the airport 3 hours in advance), they'll just tell you sorry you are on standby. Which means I literally had to stand by the gate and hope for other people to not show so I could take their seat."
Cons: "We were disappointed we couldn't order from the flight menu."
Pros: "The plane didn't fall"
Cons: "No entertainment in a 6 plus hrs flight, uncomfortable seats, they charge extra food and luggage although it's not consider a low cost airline, flight was delayed due to a broken airplane 1 plus hr."
Pros: "Crew were likeable, worked hard and very friendly."
Cons: "However, waiting for a pilot, no snacks included, and an entertainment system that didn't work turned this flight from routine to a disaster."
Cons: "International service quite a bit better, still not lufthansa standard, but better than crossfair/swiss"
Pros: "All was well. Thanks"
Cons: "Not aconfortable plane"
Pros: "Boarding process was good"
Cons: "No free snacks offered"
Cons: "The seats are way to close, I am short and I had no room. There is no way those seats are far approved, cause they're is no way in an emergency people would be able to crawl out if those seats. There was no snack at all, not even pretzels, nothing."
Pros: "The ONLY part of flying Air Canada that I used to like was your partnership with SAS, over the past ten years I have lost more airtravel points through Star Alliance troubles than I could have made in the decade before. Luckily when I fly from my birth place of St. John's NL, you're ground staff are the absolute best! I can give "shout outs" to each and every one of them. From those ready for retirement to the new staff just in from "who knows where", they get the whole "customer service" priority that your airline needs to focus on. Your management in Halifax "Sharon" is out of this world too, other than that whether through Lufthansa, Air Canada or anywhere I would travel, seeing that red leaf on your wing would make me ashamed to be Canadian."
Cons: "I paid extra for a seat to ensure leg room, all I got was ear ache! The flight - although half empty had no place for my briefcase, but I was "ordered" to push my sealskin bag under the dirty greasy seat in front of me. When I requested they store it upfront for take-off & landing - the french female steward started flirting with the man sitting next to me and didn't even offer a response. When drinks came around - I was handed a half empty glass with juice on it's exterior and borrowed a napkin from the next seat. Later I did get a napkin "thrown gently" over the person she enjoyed speaking with. I was happy to wait until connecting passengers disembarked before the local traffic, but was appalled when the more senior female steward stopped a local passenger who I know has anxiety about flying - to insist she let the other passengers off first. Air Canada needs to be educated on what human behaviour entails, before they can graduate to customer service. Together with my first name, you can know my last name is Floyd"
Pros: "The boarding staff and flight attendants were friendly and helpful."
Cons: "The seats were so small it was impossible to get the seatbelt without disturbing the people on either side. I am not a large person and I still filled the entire seat. The food was not good either. They served what was supposed to be a warm chicken wrap but after two bites I set it aside as mystery food."
Pros: "Seats are comfortable and I had plenty of leg room."
Cons: "No snacks offered with drink. Boarding wasn't well organized. Toronto airport is horrible... long lines at customs and security caused me to miss my connection for the second time in a row."
Pros: "Air canada needs a serious serious overhaul of the way they treat their customers especially those working at the Toronto airport I find their employees have an "entitlement" mentality that other carriers do not Customer service seems to be a priority not talking to your coworkers about the weekend while serving your customers"
Cons: "There was one employee who suggested to take an earlier flight and was very helpful Little things go along way"
Pros: "There was an excellent agent during boarding. I didn't catch his name but he was a tall dark skin gentlemen and he went over and beyond to assit me. His kindness left a lasting impression on me. I only wish I had his name, because he deserves to be noticed for his excellent service."
Pros: "The personnel were pleasant and efficient."
Cons: "AC Rouge domestic flight was horrible. Tiny seats that reclined about 1.5 inches jammed together. Not that size plane's original configuration I'm sure. Absolutely miserable. The personnel were all very nice and competent--I felt sorry for them having to work in such an environment. I've been in small African airline's planes which were small but not that uncomfortable."
Cons: "I cannot believe the nickel and dining of this company. I was on a 3 hour international flight (just USA to Canada, but still), and they served no snacks. Not even a bag of pretzels! Forget about free alcoholic beverages you normally get on international flights."
Pros: "Seats and crew in Premium Enonomy were great"
Cons: "Dinner was nice, but breakfast was lackluster at best - cold slice of banana bread was all we got after 6+ hours of flying! Also, I had a 60 minute layover in Toronto which is considered "legal", but I had to dash through the airport to make the flight and my luggage did not make it at all (and was not delivered to me until 38 hours after I landed in LHR). Would recommend NOT considering an hour ample time for a layover in Toronto going US to UK."
Cons: "Staff was rude. And I was seated next to an alchoholic"
Pros: "787 is super comfortable and quiet aircraft. Decent service."
Cons: "Lack of coffee while seat-belt sign turned on - there wasn't even any significant bumping in the aircraft - certainly could have served coffee without issue. I know this is a "safety policy" but sometimes we should objectively leave lawyers out of the equation in terms of service provided."
Pros: "Lots of leg room. Friendly and helpful staff. Smooth flight and comfortable seats."
Cons: "We didn't like all the walking to get to and from the plane in Terminal 2, Heathrow. Anywhere else in the world would transport people by bus if it was going to be a twenty minute walk to the departure gate."
Cons: "* Worst food I have ever had on a plane. The crew did not even know what was in some of the food, which is not comforting if you have allergies. * Entertainment system earphones were so bad they were unusable."
Pros: "good staff, very courteous and caring"
Cons: "took a long time to board, couldn't watch videos bc of bad sound"
Pros: "Comfortable plane!"
Pros: "The t flight was completely uneventful-the best kind."
Pros: "Flight crew was great."
Cons: "Delays--nearly an hour with both flights. AC was not working well on CMH-Toronto leg. We were told one unit was out."
