Pros: "The crew is always friendly at Porter. The free wine is awesome."
Cons: "There’s no entertainment."
Cons: "Needs to be more clear that you have to pay to bring bag on."
Pros: "It was absurd to pay $42 to check a small carry on backpack. The crew was rude, the air conditioning was unbearably cold, the flight was delayed several times and as a result I missed the event in New York that was the whole reason I booked this flight. My flight back to Toronto was also delayed."
Cons: "Free carry on bag, gracious crew, no delays, comfortable temperature. I will not be flying with Porter again after the experience I had."
Pros: "I felt like I was taken advantage of by porter airlines"
Cons: "They didn’t tell me I had to pay 110$ to bring on carry on luggage! Unacceptable. I will never fly porter again."
Pros: "Porter airlines is efficient and the customer service is the best I have experienced."
Cons: "I miss the free amenities that they used to offer at the Billy Bishop airport, but the newly renovated airport is nice!"
Pros: "Service, beverages, rapidity of service"
Pros: "Nothing about Porter"
Cons: "You should let people to cancel a trip even if they buy a basic tariff ticket. It’s just fair. It happens to me. That was my first experience with Porter."
Cons: "Same as previous answer, but due to cancellation of earlier flight and our connection being delayed, ended up not landing in Newark until about 10pm when we originally should've landed in around 3. This caused us to miss a Broadway show we had bought tickets for ($150/ticket) as well as lost out on dinner reservations we had made. We then had to take an Uber as our friends could not pick us up at that time (a further $80). My son had taken off three days from work and we lost most of the first one due to Porter's incompetence. Their only comment was that they weren't obliged to do anything for us because we had booked through an agent and not directly with Porter."
Pros: "Landing at Billy Bishop is very convenient."
Cons: "20 minutes delay on the incoming first flight, 35 minutes on the out coming flight. Our organization sent 100 persons to an event in Toronto this weekend. Some colleagues that had a 2 pm flight were told that they would leave by the 10 pm flight. Our flight eas already delayed, the door had been already closed, but it was reopened so that a passenger, who had arrived last, could go back to the lounge to pickup some fhat he had forgotten. Porter has become a very unreliable company. Like some of my colleagues, I will now consider flying out of Pearson airport sadly."
Cons: "Weather delays were compounded by Porter's incompetence at plane maintenance (plane was too hot when it finally arrived), crew scheduling (and then crew timed out) and finally boarding, which was a nightmare as attendants sent irate passengers who had been waiting in an overcrowded lounge for hours back and forth between podium and counter unnecessarily while ignoring protests and the fact that contradictory directions were being given. As a result, I missed my flight to a critical business event - this could have been avoided if Porter was prepared for bad weather on the East Coast (a fairly frequent occurrence) and had good contingency plans in place and customer service reps who actually knew what they were doing and how to respond to changing circumstances and customer frustration."
Pros: "My flight was delayed due to bad weather but they offered complimentary drink service at the airport and I really appreciated it. I would like to fly with Porter Airlines again."
Pros: "Efficient, punctual, polite and reliable"
Pros: "In combination of the friendly Porter crew and the best value for the money, Porter really is the best way to get from one major, fast-paced city to another fast-paced metropolitan area!"
Pros: "The service is very good. In flight snacks and drinks are complimentary."
Cons: "No in flight entertainment."
Cons: "Flight was delayed by 3 hours."
Pros: "Legroom and snacks were good."
Cons: "Super late and no information as to when it was rescheduled or why. Crew was not helpful and snappy about mundance things like headphones in on descent?!"
Cons: "the snack (chips) I recieved was expired and had a smell to it!"
Pros: "Started late but arrived before time"
Cons: "I mistakenly bought a ticket on the wrong date. I tried to change it but with their $200 change policy, it was cheaper to buy a new one. Regretfully, I bought it with Porter again, only because it was the cheapest available and I was already out a lot of money. It had to be a later flight, and people were waiting for me in Ottawa for a wedding party. The flight seemed like it was on time, but instead of getting us there, they made us sit on the plane for 45 minutes to wait for other passengers coming from another flight. I would consider a few minutes nice and the right thing to do, but not 45, as this was a complete disregard for the rest of us. They said it was the last flight to Halifax. Great, that lets me know they just didn't want to put them up in a hotel. They have ridiculously high fees, but they won't deliver the service promised in a timely manner to save themselves money. Seems like they are pinching pennies at the cost of quality service."
Pros: "Thankfully I fell asleep a few minutes after take off."
Cons: "Crew was trash talking people as they were passing by during boarding. "I'm going to go check on some of these rows, given how this flight boarded, I'm not hopeful we'll get going soon." Lots of muttering under breath and eye rolling."
Cons: "The flights were cancelled after everyone was already waiting for a long time for their delayed flights. Then the rebooking process took way too long after the staff at the airport said it would take 20 minutes. The website is extremely confusing about which flight you are rebooked, confirmed or on standby. After waiting at the airport for five hours, I still ended up having to spend the night in Toronto. I flew back the next day after my flight was rebooked four times... I filed a claim for hotel reimbursement, but no responses after three days...."
Pros: "Once they were up and running, Porter was a great airline. Flight was short so i didn't expect anything fancy on the food menu anyway"
Cons: "My flight got delayed at least 5 times. Not a great first experience. Had an eerie likeliness of Spirit, which we all know is just not a real airline. not sure if I would fly again if that is the general perception of Porter airlines. I could care less about comfort as long as I get to where I am going on time, which I did not."
Cons: "the flight was delayed many times with no real explanation. i tried calling customer service to get on an earlier flight, wait time was 75 minutes, and i found out that the earlier flights had been over sold so there were no openings... and they cancelled other flights later in the day which is why the earlier flights were overbooked. Also, the flight attendants seem to be militant about everything during take off and landing (this is not a good thing). If a customer wants to land with headphones in, i do not see a problem. this seems to be a change from every other porter flight ive been on."
Pros: "This airline have a really bad customer service and they are the worst I ever encountered"
Pros: "My past 4 Porter flights over a few months have had at least 40 minutes of delays. They all also had the annoying pattern of announcing that the delay would be extended a few times, then saying no more delays, then not boarding until after the newest departure time while claiming no more delays. Toronto airport is cute but wifi is pretty bad and hasn't worked at all a few times. Recently gate area has been ridiculously overcrowded, people sitting all over the floor. Free food/drinks is nice but still very limited options and unsurprisingly people make a big mess of the free food area. Overall I prefer a large clean airports where wifi always works well and you can always find a seat for the 30+ minutes you wait for your flight."
Cons: "Wifi Crowded gate Delays Bad communication/dishonesty about delays"
Cons: "Our flight to Chicago was cancelled, we didn't get so much as an email letting us know (checked the flight status at 1am for a 8am flight and it said on time) we found out at the porter counter at the airport that or flight was cancelled and we were delayed until the next day!!! Next day we realize they didn't schedule us on the first OR second flight of the day but the third so we were delayed by 36 hours instead of 24!!!! The planes are tiny, very old, quite dirty. The staff seem totally non chalant about all these cancelled flights and allllll of the delays and repeatedly say that the airline is understaffed... hello i don't care why my vacation was cut short by 36 hours and i got stuck paying 200$ for a hotel room tat i didn't get to stay in!!! Get your act together Porter!!!!"
Cons: "Customer service was very poor I will never be flying .Porter Airlines again My flight was cancel I sat at the airport for 8 hours before I could get on a flight. Mind you this was after being rebooked for the next day with no notification. The security agents are the one who inform me of the cancellation. NOT PORTER ."
Cons: "Flight left without us despite being a connecting flight and the customer service rep was rude and useless. Future flights were cancelled or severely delayed. Had to cancel that flight and use Air Canada to get to Montreal"
Pros: "The amazing recovery of my iPhone left in the seat pocket A huge thank you to the finders Helpfull in flight staff and checkin staff"
Pros: "The seat has enough leg room. The service was very nice on the plane with nice selections of snacks and soft drinks. It also offers wines and beers free of charge. The waiting area which offers complementary snacks and beverages is more comfortable than the one in the US with very comfortable chairs and outlets with USB to charge your phones, computers...It would be great if the US airlines copy their ideas."
Pros: "Complimentary refreshments. Not too much...just enough. Thank you, Porter!"
Cons: "My first time using Porter...certainly not my last."
Pros: "Kind and professional! They took care of me before I even realized I needed tending too! They also have a great complimentary earlier flight policy if you decide you need to jump on a earlier plane - which I did. Highly recommend"
Cons: "Nothing bad to say! Great experience"
Cons: "HATED having to take a bus from the plane to the terminal. I had to pee really bad and it took forever. I'm sure there was a reason but it wasn't clear to me, and I was super uncomfortable and unhappy. But I'm not blaming Porter Airlines for that either."
Pros: "Small airport. Easy to find everything. Ferry ride fun. Staff did not seem happy to be at work nor did they smile or acknowledge me. I asked 2 staff questions and was barked at: red line! And was told to get into a line that was non existent outside of security."
Cons: "I asked if I was supposed to leave my luggage in the rack that was just outside of the plane because I saw that's what everyone was doing. I was told it was my choice but that if it didn't fit in the overhead I would have to come back out and put it on the rack. I was very dismayed when I got off the plane to see that I had to wait in the hallway for quite a while until my luggage appeared. It was a real traffic jam of people. I really wish I had put my luggage in the overhead. Also, minutes before boarding we were told to go and verify our passports. It was quite a rush to run to the other end of the room, wait in line and then get to the boarding gate. I barely made it back in time even though I had been waiting there for nearly an hour ."
Pros: "Liked the fact that I flew out of Toronto Islands airport, was fast and easy with complimentary snacks while waiting at the gate. I had an early morning flight and so beat the traffic, as I'm sure that picks up later in the day. Online checkin was easy and simple. I did not have any check-in luggage, only carry-on, suspect that also made it easier. The Porter airlines support call center was very helpful and friendly There were complimentary coffee and snacks at the gate... was a really nice feeling. Liked the waiting area at the gates, comfortable seating. Plane was on time. No issues"
Cons: "I had an early morning flight, so traffic was very light, but suspect that later in the day. So taking a later flight on Porter may be problematic as getting to the airport would be more difficult. The language in the email ticket confirmation made me a little concerned, as it mentioned having to re-confirm the booking and being at the airport at least 3 hours ahead even though the flight time was only 1:05 hours etc. But after calling in to the support center, the concerns were cleared up."
Pros: "Lounge in Toronto had comfortable seating and complimentary coffee was served in actual cups and saucers, very nice!"
Cons: "If Porter was a budget airline the dreadful customer service might be partially understood, but it's not. Somebody needs to put passenger considerations into operational planning for situations where travel plans are disrupted, especially when they are because of mechanical or airline problems."
Pros: "Adequate leg room no middle seat!"
Cons: "Flight delayed leaving and returning due to weather, delays not communicated until original departure time had passed"
Cons: "Specifically purchased a $350 USD one way ticket with 2 1/2 hr travel time from Montreal to Windsor with a 30 min layover in Toronto, After landing in Toronto, same plane flies to Windsor once some passengers de-board and others board. There were only a 6 or 7 passengers left on the plane after landing in Toronto and in 5 min Porter announced that they are cancelling the flight without giving a reason. The actual reason is there was not enough passengers to make it worth for them to fly plane to Windsor, so gave us the option to be booked on the next flight in 3hrs or the following in 6hrs. Issued a $50 CAN voucher (good for 6 month on Prorter) for the inconvenience and a $10 meal credit. NOT really a good deal, as they value your time at $20 per hour in voucher credits, but charged $350 for the ticket in real money. No representatives there can help in any other way or offer anything other than the $50 voucher. Just sit and wait in an overcrowded lounge. The flight to Windsor 3 hrs later was completely full,"
Pros: "Flight left 30 min late but crew was very apologétic and they made up some time, flight was great!"
Cons: "Porter lost my baggage despite such a short and easy flight for them to track. Let's see how long they take to get the luggage back to me in what condition"
Pros: "I enjoyed the hospitality experienced. It stood out to me and I fly 3x/ month. In addition, I liked the lounge area was comfortable."
Cons: "It was crowded in Lounge area, so it was difficult to hear updates on flights/ gates."
Cons: "I did not like that my flight was canceled, and then delayed a few times. I did not like leaving my original plane only to wait in a hallway with everyone else for almost twenty minutes to finally be allowed to go to customs."
Pros: "There was an issue with the plane and once we got off the plane there was only an hour wait for an new plane."
Cons: "When we were about to take off we pulled to the side and sat there for 20 - 30 min before they told us there was an issue with the plane. Then we had to wait another 20 min before we got back to the terminal."
Pros: "The Porter desk staff were pretty quick in recognizing that a hoard of passengers from a super delayed flight needed to find their connections immediately. They were able to print out new passes and direct flyers in only a few minutes."
Cons: "Porter flies out of Billy Bishop in Toronto, and the dated airport definitely has an impact on you when you are stuck there for long periods of time."
Pros: "Free alcohol and snacks! They don't skimp on drinks - you get a full water bottle, full can of soda, fairly large glass of wine, full can of beer - whatever you choose. Crew was extremely pleasant, kind and helpful."
Cons: "Planes were small propeller planes. Not a bad thing, just not my first choice."
Pros: "I took Porter many times in the past. Many delays, never major, and I found landing at city airport were convenient enough to Override the annoyance of the delays."
Cons: "This time my flight was cancelled. For no particular reasons (not due to weather). That was the only flight that was cancelled of the whole day. All other were flying. They did not say why. My guess is not enough passenger on the flight to make it worth it to fly for them. They rebooked me 24 hours later. I called customer service to ask for support and I received no support at all. I explained I was having a high risk pregnancy and was out of medication and needed to be at my DR appointment I had the next morning in Chicago. They said that there's nothing they can do. They also said additionally we also want to mention that we do not support for accomadation cost. I did not even ask but it's like they wanted to highlight that no support is given. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Told him I would like support to rebook a non Porter flight to get on time to Chicago. Again he said I am sorry we don't do that. I mentioned I was shocked that they don't even care that I was saying it was a medical reason and I asked for his name saying I will hold Porter responsible if any difficulty would happen because of this. At that point they searched for a solution. He said ok you can be on a flight but you need to board in 30 minutes. Impossible for me to do where I was but this should have been proposed to me earlier so I could have made it. And I would have done it. Second solution he gave me was to be in Ottawa boarding in 1 hour. Again impossible I was in Montreal with no car. He said you cannot hold me responsible if anything happen with your pregnancy I offered you solutions. Thank you Porter all impossible to do at the time you offered them. If you offered them all to me on time that would have maybe be possible. Anyway they made me miss 2 days of work + my doctor appointment I had to go without medication for a few days + paid for a extra hotel room. Next time I am taking air canada delta or United . I will pay more but at least I will have the guarantee to be taken in charge by their customer service if delays or cancellations happen."
Pros: "Very friendly in flight service Pilots made up time in flight Gate in Montreal was fairly close to curbside pick up"
Cons: "Pilots made up time in flight to catch up delayed departure. Great!! But, then had to wait on Tarmac for gate to be released by another aircraft."
Cons: "As our first plane was in late, we were worried to loose this plane. But they waited for us. We arrived on time for this one."
Too many delays from start to finish of the trip
Pros: "Crew were helpful"
Cons: "Everything was great"
Cons: "Overstuffed storage bins. Absolutely chaotic and abysmal boarding process"
Pros: "Very efficient boarding and great crew!!"
Cons: "Hello, I just needed to voice my dissatisfaction with this fight. I’m not sure if every Westjet flight I was lucky and had amazing crew members or if the staff on this flight was having a bad flight. Our flight was delayed by 75min. The flight crew did not attend to any requests from the customers for the 75min we were on the tarmac. I asked for headphones and the crew member look agitated I asked made a remark about how nobody buys them so she didn’t know how much they are. She said she would come back with the price, and did not. I had to wait for the beverage cart and then order them again. Then I asked for an additional can of ginger ale. The gentleman said he’ll need to come back (as he was cleaning the garbage). He never came back. I had to hit the assistance button again and got the original woman. Once again agitated and when I asked she said to wait for the beverage cart again. After another 10-15min they started the beverage service again. On previous flights there were delays, shorter like 30min westjet crew members gave free headphones. And those are the kind of experiences I’ve come to expect from westjet. Not the free aspect but flight crew that care about the customers. The entire crew on this flight was agitated and annoyed from boarding and it definitely showed. Small things like even a smile or even sorry everyone, would’ve gone a long way. But when the crew doesn’t care the flight gets 10x longer, and when the flight is already delayed by 25% of the flight duration it comes to a point where you’re counting down the seconds to get out. The delay was unfortunate and out of the control of the company and crew but that doesn’t mean the crew couldn’t still make it into a memorable experience for the guests."
Cons: "It was 30+ mins late and they didn’t keep us updated. Missed my connection"
Pros: "Crew was great. Delayed by mechanical issue. Weather was bad in Montreal so delayed again. Mechanical issue is a pain but I'd rather not crash so all in all very good. Really windy at landing, pilots did a great job. Respect!"
Cons: "Just a heads up, if you're a large person, weight wise, you may have a challenge using the rest room. It's pretty small."
Pros: "Ran on time. Bags came out in a timely manner."
Pros: "Everything went smoothly on this short flight"
Cons: "No in flight entertainment"
Pros: "Newest 787 plane in the fleet. Really comfortable seats and terrific in-flight entertainment"
Pros: "Having media provoded to my device"
Cons: "Could not select seat after checking in - could, for. A $45 fee"
Cons: "When tavelling with a child, which is always identified at the time of booking by providing child's age, every other airline was able to accommodate seating together. Even at the lowest fare class. Not Westjet, their automatic computer seating assignment gave us seats in separate rows !! When asked at the checkin and also again at the gate, we were told that the fare class that we paid for does not allow seat changes. They simply would not seat a parent and a child together unless we paid extra $25/person to change seats. This kind of gauging for money was shocking. Especially when there were 3 other rows behind us with free seats together !! This was clearly a case of wanting more money. At the lowest fare class parents travelling with children can expect the child to be sitting separately from them. Or pay up more."
Cons: "Sitting at departure gate waiting for two passengers to get kicked off, hard landing"
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "The waiting area, lateness of the plane"
Pros: "Amazing Service at the registering counter at the airport. One for the two flight attendants was very nice. Unfortunately, he was not the one assigned to my section."
Cons: "One of the flight attendants was incredibly dismissive. “Forgot” to ask for my order to get lunch, so needed to call him so he could take my order (he was already in the middle of eating his own food) and of course by then what I asked for was not available, and the options for food were bad. On top of that, the trash from the top of my table was not cleared for a long, long, long time (even though everyone else’s in my section were clean). First time this happens to me in all my years of flying, specially in upper economy class."
Pros: "WS Care Center staff Minmico (think it was her name) arranged the 4:15 flight instead of the 6 pm flight but only because I requested her to check that flight when I returned to the CC to find out if it was possible to get on an earlier flight. I should have been advised when I first arrived at the CC from my delayed flight from Toronto that I could check back at the CC to see if there was a cancellation. Minmico allowed me to use her phone a couple of times to call my husband to advise him of the changes in my flight, which was very helpful. She tried hard just prior to the flight departure to have my bag delivered to the 4:15 flight but was unsuccessful. She gave me food vouchers, which I liked. I also thought the WS CC staff in Abbotsford was very helpful explaining the process for making a baggage claim when my bag didn't arrive due to my last minute flight change - the $100 voucher was appreciated when I picked up my bag the next day."
Cons: "Had to sit in the plane for almost 2 hours because the computer was being fixed on the plane. Crew did not communicate in a timely manner about when we would be flying. The plane should not have been in operation if the computer didn't work and passengers should not have had to wait on the plane for two hours while it was fixed. I missed my WS connecting flight to Abbotsford from Calgary and was only rescheduled on a plane departing 6 hours later! No one at WesJet Care suggested there may be a cancellation on an earlier flight - I had to arrange it by returning to the WS Care Center. I just barely made it onto an earlier 4:15 pm flight but without my bag which was put onto the later 6 pm flight. I chose to return the next day to pick up my bag."
Pros: "We upgraded to Plus when we checked in and it was totally worth it. Extra space, food, drink. It was great!"
Pros: "Nothing nobody"
Cons: "Uncomfortable seats! No access to music movies or kindle though it said it has free entertainment. Nobody knew how to get access to the movies. Instructions are wrong and loop around with no results. Attendant said she’d comp a drink but didn’t . Boarded late and disorderly. Mean gate lady. Left an hour late. Home an hour late."
Cons: "Economy too cramped."
Pros: "Great leg room...clean"
Cons: "All of the onboard staff was great except for one. She was visible grumpy. She was rude to an elderly couple sitting next to me. Her impatience with them ended up that she didn't get their drink order right. She challenged them on whether they really said they wanted milk and sugar or just sugar. Then she rolled her eyes and huffed and puffed about someone else waiting to get down the aisle after going to the bathroom. The client was had patience and was talking to those around her. The server was verbally frustrated and everyone knew by her words and facial expressions. There was an elderly lady with a cane who she was very brusk and impatient with. Her tone was condesending and dismissive."
Pros: "Thought the flight left a little late, we still arrived on time."
Cons: "The seats weren't that comfortable. Though I'm not fat there was little room to move left or right there was however ample leg room considering I'm fairly tall. Though the flights are quite expensive no meal is included., only drinks and snacks."
Pros: "staff on airline great"
Cons: "Lost my luggage hopefully I’ll get that tomorrow. Airline charged me 70 pounds for that. Staff at customer service were not helpful at all."
Pros: "Hi. I actually am glad that the company is following up because I was having a hard time finding an email to contact. I actually came to kayak to book my ticket for Friday to go to London however when I got to the airport it says it was for Monday. Because I had to be at London the next day for a wedding i had to buy another ticket for almost 1000. I also couldn’t contact u so I’m emailing now. I didn’t get on the plane for west jet because I am already in London. I also have a screen shot that shows me that my flight details were for Friday however another email shows me that it’s for Monday. Even the workers at th airport were confused and felt strongly bad for me. I would like a full refund as well. Thank you. Please contact back. 416806-6530 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org"
Pros: "Overall service on the flight."
Cons: "The management of carry on luggage on the flight. It seems that there is no control over the placement of carry on luggage in relation to seat selection. many people entering the aircraft drop of luggage in the bins close to the front of the cabin even when they are sitting at the rear... Simple solution would be to assign luggage based on zone. Zone A to Be Window seat. Zone B to be a centre seat and Zone C to be Aisle seat. Designate a portion of the overhead bin to be A, B and C like the seats. Ensure that baggage is transported to the seat designated."
Cons: "the 40 minute delay in toronto.not so bad in middle of day but when the delay means we get home at 1:00am this is not so good"
Pros: "The female flight attendant and the pilot spoke reassuringly and with friendliness."
Cons: "This was the most negative experience I’ve ever had flying Westjet. The female flight attendant was wonderful, fun and friendly and professional. The two younger male attendants were incredibly rude, rolled their eyes, ignored me, put themselves first (at one point instead of making room for me to return to my seat the blond one insisted I let him pass when it was unsafe for me to do so and nowhere for me to go). I felt demoralized by these two men and it’s both surprised and disappointed me as Westjet staff have a reputation for friendliness. These two men will Discourage me from flying Westjet when travelling to LA again. Not pleasant. Again the women was lovely. I tried to catch the male names but they wouldn’t stop and face me for long enough for me to see their name tags. They seemed to have some inside jokes between them and gave me the sense my requests were not welcome or respected. I am a nervous flyer and this was such a difficult and uncomfortable Experience."
Pros: "I went through customs and then walked via escalators and moving walk ways to b4. It took me almost a hour. I was the last to board I am sure And had to collect my own luggage and take it from one point to another. I am 70. thank god, when I got on the plane I sat in 3a and was offered a free glass of wine. halleluya. I was exhausted Toronto airport is always a nightmare. I travel a lot and will avoid this airport if I can. I do like West jet but Delta /west jet connection means I have to take my bag from one place to another and I walked miles and could have missed my flight. I am tired. I am going to bed"
Cons: "How is it that in a 5 hours flight you don’t be get any food for free? You have to pay for every meal. And the entertainment system isn’t only available through the west je to app but i didn’t know that until I board the plane wtf"
Cons: "snow caused my flight to be cancelled instead of the direct flight to nyc i flew via Atlanta. due to the timings of the flight - landing at 2.30 am, leaving at 7.30 am - i had no option but to sleep on the airport floor i will try to avoid fliying with westjet in future - staying loyal to air canada - to avoid the risk of such a terrible flight diversion"
Pros: "I liked the fact that all the movies food and beverages were included in my Plus seat."
Cons: "This was my first time booking a PLUS seat and never realized that row 2A seat sucks. Its a bulkead row seat that is by the window. This seat was worse to sit in than any other seat on the plane. This seat is located were the plane starts to curve in toward the front of the plane reducing the seat width, I have a 33" waist and it was tight. The arm wrests in this row don't come up as they stow your table, as well the leg room is only as good as a regular seat because of the bulkhead location. So FYI do not book this seat on a long flight."
Pros: "The information given by the pilot overhead was timely and well delivered. The flight was smooth and we arrived safely."
Cons: "We sat for 4 hours on the runway. Aside from 1 crew member, they were impersonal, rude, and unaccomodating. They pilot spoke overhead very pleasantly and apologetically and encouraged walking around and using the restroom but they crew gave everyone a hard time. There was no offer of complementary food service or compensation for anyone despite being on the plane for double the amount of time planned. Finally, the in flight entertainment worked for maybe half hour of the actual flight with no explanation or acknowledgement."
Pros: "There was one nice, friendly flight attendant. Nice to have a variety of beverages and pretzels offered (I feel I don't expect this anymore from domestic flights-- usually just expecting the coffee or water option)."
Cons: "The seats were up there with the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced--mostly due to the lack of ability to recline. I feel a four hour flight is sufficiently long enough to provide people some space to relax. We were delayed for whatever reason, lack of communication from staff to the passengers that were boarded really quite early (perhaps too early). One of the staff, while nice enough, was being a bit snarky to people as they were trying to, what I thought was helpfully, give them their garbage."
Pros: "The flight and the seating was comfortable. Food served was fine too."
Cons: "Well, they mixed up my check-in luggage during transit. As a result it got delayed and I had to spend the night without it. Although, I was informed about this miss when I landed in Vancouver, the team did not seem to feel particularly bad about it. Also, the process of getting reimbursed for the predefined expenditure allowance needs to be more efficient. Ideally, in such cases, the airlines should not only refund the check-in fee, but also provide a prepaid card to make any urgent purchases. Their current process requires one to bear the expenses initially, scan/click and send the original receipts and await a response from their baggage team. I am waiting to hear back from them on my submission."
Pros: "Our flight boarded on time, flew on time, with great crew service."
Cons: "Landing was delayed by weather and we circled for 45 minutes after a speedy, early flight."
Pros: "Excellent from phone courtesy to every aspect of travelling with them."
Cons: "Well organized. Courteous at every step. Other airlines should emulate them in every way. Travelled all over the world and would rate them as best so far."
Pros: "Great food glad I preordered. Great flight and crew"
Cons: "Didn’t know I needed to download the WestJet app in advance - wish there was a way to download it locally from a server on the plane and/or receive a message in advance suggesting to download. I have now downloaded it after I got off the plane and looking forward to trying it out on the return flight"
Pros: "All staff I encountered were amazing."
Cons: "This was where the real fun in my trip happened. After my arriving flight got in 2 hours late and sat on the runway for 45 minutes because there was too many planes in the way for my plane to get to the gate I was not in the mood to run across the airport to go through customs and then through security (for the second time). However in order to make it onto this final flight that's exactly what I had to do. I also might add that it is incredibly stupid that connecting flights have to go through security again after deplaning, it's not like we're suddenly going to have weapons or anything so why waste that time? After I sprinted across the airport and got onto the plane the pilot announced that we were waiting to hear from the airport to take off. Long story short the poor pilot was trying to figure out what was going on but no one was even answering his calls. Eventually he realized that the plane hadn't been refueled and had to get a hole of them to refuel. At one point he must have gotten really frustrated because he left the plane in search of answers as the Toronto airport wasn't giving him any. Eventually after 2 hours of sitting on the plane we refueled and took off. On top of that my travel partner didn't get her luggage, we assumed that the Toronto airport lost it somewhere or something. Overall a complete nightmare."
Pros: "Westjet connect on board. Snacks. No problem to get our bags."
Cons: "The waiting on the tarmac ( 1:00) with a young child. We arrived 2:30 later, so the desk for rental cars was closed."
Cons: "I was given a ticket with the seat 3A (one of the plus seats); I didn't ask for it or pay for it, I just got that seat when I was checking. After I found out it was a plus seat, I acknowledged to nearby the flight attendants and nearby passengers I didn't pay for this, that there was a mistake, and I could move if there was someone who did pay for it. What I received from the flight attendants are accusatory remarks/comments about how shouldn't be there because I didn't pay for it (after I acknowledged this before anyone even had an issue about it) and passive excuses that didn't make much sense when I asked them why there ws this issue in the first place. I was fine with moving seats from what I was initially assigned to, I was fine with being moved twice thereafter (first moving to 21E, then to 23E). What I was not fine with was 1. the accusatory tone by the flight attendants that I tried to take someone else's seat 2. even though I was given the seat by the person at the check-in desk when I didn't even ask for it and 3. after I was the one who initially brought up this issue in the first place and was willing to changet seats with he rightful passenger. Please learn to take responibility for your actions and mistakes and errors rather than blaming it on a passenger who just wants a safe flight home. Thanks."
Pros: "Seats are fairly comfortable. Everything mostly went smoothly."
Cons: "Cannot use the in-flight entertainment system due to not having the WestJet app. Not able to download the app in flight. WestJet should at least provide a $0.99 internet option for 5 minutes, or allow free internet access to the App store for a few minutes to download the WestJet app."
Cons: "Didn't fly on the day I was supposed to fly due to delays. I had to figure out for myself that I wasn't going to make my connection and thus I went back home. We agreed to itinerary for the next day that had a 2+ hour wait at la Guardia and yet I still almost missed the N.Y. to Tampa flight due to delays out of toronto. Had to sprint from one terminal to the other. In Toronto we sat on the tarmac for 90 mins, and this was after dealing with security and other issues with checkin before i even got on the plane. For example, it was difficult to explain that i had already paid for my checked bag the day before. As a result I never got a chance to eat the entire day. And then my bag didn't get to Tampa until later that night anyways. Although the individual staff members were all very nice, there were institutional flaws that made two days very frustrating. I have some sort of debilitating delay on more than half my flights over the last few years, and rarely is there ever an explanation or compensation."
Pros: "We took off, we flew, we landed and walked away."
Cons: "5hrs and 9min flight time. Add boarding and alighting at the other end - adds up to over 6 hours travel time. WestJet will supply you with a coffee or tea and a cookie, pretzel or cheese stick packet. Wow! You get to watch fair selection of movies etc on your own phone or tablet - IF you have downloaded the app BEFORE you leave the terminal.Wow! If you need to wait for the bathroom the stewardess tells you to wait in the aisle behind row 3... really? So I can't just stand here in the galley and wait... no sir, behind row 3. Best advice - fly Air Canada - these guys do not deserve your money!"
Pros: "Kayak was great to book through. Very simple. Plane ride there was great."
Cons: "Plane ride home wasn't good due to the airplane propellers being louder then usual and noisy, a little unsettling."
Pros: "Boarding was a breeze and we arrived in Cancun early which was great."
Cons: "The cabin was freezing. I fly often and I always pack a sweater and a blanket but even that couldn’t keep me warm because the cabin was so cold Also, my meal that I purchased on the flight was frozen all the way through. It was literally like biting into a popsicle. My teeth hurt for the rest of the flight after just one bite. I asked for another sandwich which took a while because they were busy with other passengers. My replacement sandwich felt just as cold but it wasn’t frozen solid like the first one. It seems like a minor inconvenience but it became quite frustrating."
Cons: "I had to pay for internet to download the app to watch movies"
Pros: "Lots of room- great aircraft"
Pros: "Staff on the ground and in the air were great - nice, polite and funny"
Pros: "comfortable seats friendly crew"
Cons: "no entertainment system, fee for renting tablet not enough room in overhead no complimentary food or drink service"
Pros: "Haven't flown Westjet in years. Don't know why but I don't have sore kneecaps, was served great coffee, the stewards always smiled and had funny things to say, and the gate keepers were happy and honest. I'm going to be a frequent flyer now for sure."
Cons: "I didn't like....um....nope. no complaints"
Great flight, arrived early.....perfect
Pros: "The crew was amazing"
Cons: "Wish there had been any kind of entertainment available or if there was it would have been better advertised"
Pros: "I was only a few minutes late and was not allowed to check in my bag or to board the flight."
Cons: "They could have let me board!!"
Pros: "got an upgrade to Business Class but on those small flight - meh"
Cons: "The recline didn't work nor did the sound on my TV."
Cons: "In a flight that is only 1:45, to have an incoming flight delayed by 1:45 for non-mechanical issues can create a lot of havoc. On the turnaround, we boarded and arrived very late. We missed our connection to Sydney and had to wait 24 hours for the next flight out."
Cons: "i got to the airport 2.5 hours befor my flight to play it safe and waited at the check in for about a hour befor a air canada employe even showed up. vary poor service on the airlines part i will never fly with air canada again."
Pros: "Crew on board pleasant and fluent."
Cons: "Check in at Boston rather snotty. Lounge atrocious. The employee at the gate was not able, or willing, to help with seat mix up on next lap, Toronto/Santiago"
Pros: "Passengers were kept well-informed by staff on flight status. Boarding process was efficient. Gate agents and crew were professional and friendly. Appreciated the in-flight entertainment."
Cons: "Seating was cramped and claustrophobic. I'm only 5 feet tall and my legs were stiff after a 90 minute flight. "Snacks" were kind of pathetic - tiny bag of pretzels. The worst part was the crowded gate area at Boston. It made me feel like a cattle holding pen. Since we're told to get there two hours early, it would be nice to have more than a tiny little snack bar with overpriced pre-made sandwiches and salads that have been sitting out for who knows how long. Crappy lukewarm coffee. Starbucks is right outside security, but of course we can't bring liquids through."
Cons: "5 hours delayed because captin was late."
Pros: "On board entertainment"
Cons: "No real food for purchase"
Cons: "The waiting area at the Boston airport is poor. It is very small, rundown and with limited access to refreshments. It's ok but certainly not a selling point."
Pros: "Ground personnel"
Cons: "The overall service on board"
Pros: "Crew was very nice"
Pros: "Quick little hop . . . I find that everyone (passengers and flight crew) tend to be in a good mood on these."
Cons: "Flight delayed out of Boston. This seems to be the normal state of things. I dont think I've ever flow this route on and had an om time arrival This caused me to miss my flight in Toronto, forcing me to spend the night. I pressed their customer service rep for a hotel, but they refused claiming it was a weather related incident and they were were therefore mot responsible. The weather in Boston and Toronto was fine and at no poi t on the flight did anyone offer Any Reason Whatsoever for the delay. Moreover when i protested the customer service agent mocked me for not realizing it was a 'weather related incident'. I spent the night on the floor on YYC. Needless to say, Ill never fly Air Canada again."
Cons: "Wireless system slow and costly."
Pros: "Service was amazing. Flight was intime and they helped me with my luggages to be transferd directly to the last country eventhough they are two seperate booking"
Pros: "We didn't crash"
Cons: "Terrible service by the Air Canada stewardess. She was surly and unprofessional. Just flat out rude."
Pros: "I never got in my flight home for my aunts funeral and to get back to work because nothing on your website warned or notified me that I needed a visa just for a connecting flight on Air Canada so not only did I lose my money I was denied my flight denied the chance to be at my aunts funeral and get back to work. So my honest opinion is that I am extremely disappointed and deeply saddened by this evtire ordeal now I have to spend more money to purchase another ticket with another airline to go home. Thanks for the hassle! Aslim Hosein."
Cons: "Seriously? NOTHING AT ALL and I wish I could select no stars"
Pros: "Genial crew"
Cons: "Disorganization in Boston, we almost missed our connecting flight"
Pros: "My flight was delayed and I did not get my baggage when I arrive at Boston airport.. I had no clothes or anything to wear for three weeks when I got to Boston. I complain the very day I got to Boston airport. Up till now the bag I checked in at Toronto airport has not been given to me. The funny thing is after I checked in, it was not scan at any other place except Toronto. So it got lost at Toronto where I checked in. All that am told of is the baggage can not be located. Three weeks I spend at Boston, I had nothing."
Cons: "Onced arrived to my Montreal destination, I get informed my bag never made it onto the flight once we connected in Boston... Now dealing with AC to get it back. Very dissapointing"
Pros: "Quick, cheap, great service"
Cons: "Nothing bad, really"
Pros: "I was happy to be on the flight."
Pros: "On time departure"
Cons: "I had visa on expired passport ,staff on duty took too long nearly an hour to clear me."
Cons: "Not aconfortable plane"
Cons: "Flight was late taking off"
Pros: "Boarding process was good"
Cons: "No free snacks offered"
Pros: "The ONLY part of flying Air Canada that I used to like was your partnership with SAS, over the past ten years I have lost more airtravel points through Star Alliance troubles than I could have made in the decade before. Luckily when I fly from my birth place of St. John's NL, you're ground staff are the absolute best! I can give "shout outs" to each and every one of them. From those ready for retirement to the new staff just in from "who knows where", they get the whole "customer service" priority that your airline needs to focus on. Your management in Halifax "Sharon" is out of this world too, other than that whether through Lufthansa, Air Canada or anywhere I would travel, seeing that red leaf on your wing would make me ashamed to be Canadian."
Cons: "I paid extra for a seat to ensure leg room, all I got was ear ache! The flight - although half empty had no place for my briefcase, but I was "ordered" to push my sealskin bag under the dirty greasy seat in front of me. When I requested they store it upfront for take-off & landing - the french female steward started flirting with the man sitting next to me and didn't even offer a response. When drinks came around - I was handed a half empty glass with juice on it's exterior and borrowed a napkin from the next seat. Later I did get a napkin "thrown gently" over the person she enjoyed speaking with. I was happy to wait until connecting passengers disembarked before the local traffic, but was appalled when the more senior female steward stopped a local passenger who I know has anxiety about flying - to insist she let the other passengers off first. Air Canada needs to be educated on what human behaviour entails, before they can graduate to customer service. Together with my first name, you can know my last name is Floyd"
Pros: "Service on the flight is always good and the transfer in Toronto was seamless."
Cons: "The departure area in Boston is dreadful. no room and no amenities. Straight out of the 60's."
Pros: "Seats are comfortable and I had plenty of leg room."
Cons: "No snacks offered with drink. Boarding wasn't well organized. Toronto airport is horrible... long lines at customs and security caused me to miss my connection for the second time in a row."
Pros: "Wheel chair request on arrival in Toronto was very poorly implemented resulting in two long delays"
Cons: "If Air Canada can't get these basics right it will be difficult to be competitive with Porter Air"
Cons: "Staff was rude. And I was seated next to an alchoholic"
Pros: "Everything was fantastic. Great flight crew. Great stuff."
Pros: "Logan checking with own security checkpoint Boston to Toronto tv great Staff professional"
Pros: "Clean plane, attentive efficient staff, easy boarding."
Cons: "Flight staff forgot to pass out customs forms upon landing in Toronto - caused some confusion at customs entry."
Pros: "Good movie selection"
Cons: "Poor organization and late takeoff"
Cons: "fitst leg was late. no communication about the connection. was not not clear whether we're going to make the connection - too much stress"
Pros: "i didn't like anything about this flight"
Cons: "The flight was over an hour delayed and everything else since boarding was a mess. It was hard for the fly hostess to keep her calm and we knew she was stressed, as much as many passengers who lost their connection or who had really tied ones. I noticed also that it wasn't the only flight delayed so I am not sure if this is usual with Air Canada."
Pros: "The staff was accommodating."
Cons: "The flight had two legs: from Boston to Toronto and from Toronto to New Delhi. The layover was 1 hr 6 min, which was tight. After checking in our bags, we found out that the first leg of our flight is 2 hours late, so obviously we couldn't take the second flight. Looking at the TV monitors, I noticed that pretty much ALL Air Canada flights are seriously delayed. Luckily, there was an earlier flight to Toronto (which was scheduled to have already left, but it did not leave because that was delayed, too). The staff put us on that flight and double promised to make sure that our checked in baggage gets transferred to this alternate flight. The checked bags did not get transferred. When we arrived at Delhi, after an exasperating 1.5 hour delay after a 20 hour flight, the airline told us, and many others in the same situation, that our baggage did not arrive, and we have to come the next day to pick them up. The issue was, we were not staying in Delhi, just transiting through it. No luck, the airline said, because the customs have to be cleared at the port of entry. We are still waiting for our baggage. Oh, and if that was not enough, the airline allocated well separated seats for all the members of our family. I'd think it would be a common sense that people who have been booked on the same ticket must be assigned consecutive seats. But apparently Air Canada does not have much common sense. NOT flying with them ever again!"
Cons: "The waiting room in Boston was awful and behind security, hot, small crowded. Delayed"
Pros: "The crew at the gate and onboard were exceptional! At the gate they made sure I could get on this flight even though the computer auto booked me for 2 days later."
Cons: "My bags didn't make it on the flight because of a close connection. Then I was rebooked on a flight 2 days later. This is unacceptable. I was expected to stay in Toronto for two days."
Cons: "crew are polite but cold and strict. it was a night flight and they were very noisy when serving the food."
Pros: "Bos->Toronto Good Air Canada at Boston Logan airport has there own gate area with only 3 gates. This reduces the security line for faster security check. However this also causes problems with PreCheck. See below."
Cons: "Bad There is only one line for security at Air Canada Boston Logan because of the small volume at this check point. Because of this, PreCheck passages need to hold onto there bording pass as they go through security. The first security person who checks ID and boarding pass only told my wife not to take off her shoes. He did not tell her to hold on to her boarding pass, so she put it into the bin for x-ray stuff. So later security personnel then told her to take off her shoes and gave her a body scan because her boarding pass was already in the x-ray machine. I always hold on to my boarding pass thru security but had to take my computer out of my carry-on."
Pros: "I liked the entertainment selection. It had starwars, that was a big plus."
Cons: "The seating accommodations were terrible l. No leg room, and no room beteween passengers. I Could not relax for a 12hr flight. Im debating of booking a new flight altogether home. WHyde do all converges have to be spring ruxe ("
Cons: "Air canada just didn't even show up, I had to take a different plane to Japan which made me late for my last flight so I had to stay in a hotel and wait til the morning to catch a new plane. So ya, not impressed."
