Asked Westjet staff where we were boarding and they told me (and others) that even though we were booked to take off from C70 we’d be departing from the gate labeled C73 and also labeled for a flight to Regina. Still got to Hamilton though."

Cons: "I had to try several times to pick the flight I wanted since the site seemed to refer me back to a flight I did not want. I ended up having to cancel the wrong flight on the carrier’s website after booking two incorrect flights. Everything went very well after that."

Pros: "When we took off I almost blacked out in my seat (low blood sugar). The person seated next to me paged the flight crew and they were very quick to respond. The crew were super nice, very helpful and got me back on my feet by giving me some apple juice to drink. Overall just a great response and I'm super thankful."

Pros: "My brother had a heart attack and I was traveling out Edmonton to be within and his family. It’s a stressful time and I meant to book for Nov 7 but booked Nov 9 by accident. The person at the checkin desk was wonderful. Changed my booking and checked my bag without any charge. It made a very stressful situation so much better, I really appreciate the staff who went out of her way to help me."

Cons: "We were heckled by gate crew about whether my dog’s carrier was too small for him. Many suggestions were made that we were subjecting him to animal cruelty, and that we were abusive to him. He’s 7lbs, so he can’t be much smaller a dog, and his carrier it turns out, doesn’t fit under WestJet seats, despite being within carry-on luggage dimension limits (their life jackets take up most of the legroom), and thus could not be any bigger. Did they want me to have a smaller dog, or a Euclidean space-defying carrier? I suppose they were suggesting that taking a dog aboard WestJet is abusive, because they certainly don’t provide adequate space for anything larger than a hamster, they hassle you about it, and they charge you $50 for the fun of it. One agent had the nerve to reach into his carrier without permission, unannounced, and invade his personal space, him being a rescue and very anxious."

Pros: "Before taking this flight, I was very nervous because of all the bad reviews on here and other sites. The only good reviews seemed to be by people from Alberta (not really trustworthy, as they seem to support anything that's from Alberta, and note that Westjet is based in Alberta...). But I was blown away by how organized Westjet was and how nice they were. All the flights were on time (I had a few layovers), the staff was helpful....I really have no complaints. Sure, they don't have a plethora of great in-flight entertainment such as movies, etc. But when I fly, I'd rather pay less, have the staff be nice/organized, and just bring a darn book to entertain me. It was a great first flight with this company. I would fly with them again....and I can't remember the last time I said that about any other airline. So do yourself a favor: Don't listen to the bad reviews on here (unless you're obsessed with in-flight entertainment and big-butt first class seats)."

Cons: "I was able to download the WestJet Connect app on my phone which gives you access to tv shows and movies to watch on your own device during the flight. The app was free and easy to use and there was a decent selection. However, the wifi on board is not free so even though you could watch the tv show/movie - the sound did not work unless you paid for it. There are many other airlines that offers everything for free - it would have been a more pleasant if we were able to actually utilize the service."

Pros: "We were delayed while in the plane. The steward decided to give drinks and snacks on the house which in the end lightened the atmosphere. It did make it late for the Oilers play-off game which was likely very important to many of the business men on the flight."

Cons: "They didn't let us know ahead of time and there wouldn't be televisions. If you hadn't downloaded the WestJet app you couldn't watch TV. You had to rent a tablet for seven dollars or buy an Internet package to download the app. That's fine just frustrating"

Cons: "The woman checking my boarding pass before I was going to get on the plane was not very friendly. Because of the full flight they were asking that large carry-ons be checked. I was fine with that especially since I saw it was a smaller plane and I could not maneuver the steps with both my carry-on and my personal item. I asked if I could also check my computer bag and she said no. The fact that I have trouble walking and maneuvering and she wasn't willing to help me out just seemed like very poor customer service. Had I known about trying to maneuver the stairs I would have been more prepared."
