Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Just the crews"
Cons: "I feel the options when the flights didn’t work out could be much better and the managers could be more helpful with finding accommodations. For example my flight was canceled the young lady behind the counter was more helpful than the manager when exploring options to get me on my way to Sudbury in which I had to catch the bus which was fine but to get to that conclusion took forever they provided a ride to the station and thats it"
Pros: "The crew did everything expected to make our flight enjoyable. Couldn't really have asked for more."
Cons: "We're fortunate we fly business when traveling to Europe, but the comfort on AC Rouge "premium economy" is VERY low. The dilemma is: comfort for a much longer business flight thru Frankfurt to Venice, or a slightly larger economy seat for a direct 8 hr flight YYZ to VCE. "Entertainment" - an iPad!"
Pros: "We arrived safely"
Cons: "Flight was 3 hours late. Crew was disorganized & inefficient. Announcements were repetive & not helpful. Waited 2-1/2 hours on plane before departure because crew was terribly ineffective boarding passengers that were re-routed from another flight. No weather or mechanical issues, bad decisions."
Cons: "Air Canada continues to underwhelm me. We left the gate 35 minutes late despite having everyone on board. Then off to de-ice where we sat with a truck outside for ten minutes they did work. It was like they were having a coffee break. The flight and board service was exceptional. Baggage delay of a"
Pros: "The crew was very attentive"
Cons: "As much as the flight was truly very good and the crew very friendly and helpful as much as the equipment (airplane, seats, entertainment) really shabby and certainly not worth the the 2500,00 $ I paid for a better seat. I could of flown with Air transat and get better than I got with Air Canada. I feel it was rip off. Quality - price not there . Please give your crew a better uniform. The ones they wear now is very sad and oldish looking. If I think this and am 67 years old, imagine what the younger generation thinks."
Pros: "Staff were pleasant"
Cons: "They wouldn’t wait 10 minutes for us to arrive on our incoming flight."
Cons: "Plane was delayed 30 minutes-1 hour on tarmac prior to takeoff for deicing"
Cons: "This was an overnight flight but for those of us in the back of the plane (near this staff hangout section) there was no rest. They were speaking loudly, sometimes over each other, as though at a house party for the duration of the 5 hour OVERNIGHT flight. This isnt the second time I have flown long distance with Air Canada and the 'frat party' in the back occurred on both flights. The first time was much worse-12 hours from Seoul to Toronto- with the party going on the entire time. LOW BUDGET service and attitude at major carrier prices."
Pros: "Liked my seating which I paid for dearly"
Cons: "No entertainment at all!"
Pros: "flight was fast and on time, service was good"
Cons: "seat was in poor conditon , numb after 3 hours on a 8 hour flight no entertainment units mounted in plane."
Pros: "That it got us to Italy."
Cons: "Crew was outright rude, seemed to go out of their way to be disrespectful and unhelpful, no information ahead of time to download the app to get the then subpar entertainment. No wifi option. Seats horribly filthy, gum stuck, trash, magazines all outdated and torn up, and little to no room. Worse than any other airline. food was pretty gross."
Pros: "Food, entertainment and upgraded to Preferred seats in Economy- lots of legroom. I would say worth the $100/person."
Cons: "Seats are not cushioned enough in economy. Needs to be slightly thicker."
Pros: "We flew Toronto to Milan"
Cons: "Air canada doesn't know how to run an airline and should stop trying. They are hurting all of their passengers, and they do not care."
Pros: "My taxi driver comments that " Air Canada is terrible; I'm sorry you fly them!""
Cons: "Nobody ever around to help you; your anxiety is through the roof just trying to get help or any glimmer of kindness! And forget the bastards refunding you!"
Cons: "There was absolutely nothing that I found to complain about"
Cons: "They sold my mom's tix. Didn't let her board. She had to buy new ticket!!! For 1200!!! Terrible experience"
Cons: "Delayed for more than two hours on both the trips to and from Canada. This is a common thing with Air Canada i heard. Flights always get delayed."
Pros: "At fisrt the flight was over booked. Once we had boarded their was a technical issues with the aircraft, we had to sit in our aiys with nothing to do for just under 2 hours. With this delay in mind their was no form of a free drink as a mini compensation. They had no choice of food."
Pros: "Quick and easy"
Cons: "Things Beyond your control as an airline... Two kids next to me vomiting for the last hour. And holy moly, Canadians from the Montreal area can talk! The entire flight was filled with passengers non stop talking. Not kidding. And apparently the norm is to say something and then repeat it four times just to be sure. I thought Americans were the most annoying talkers, turns out we have competition."
Pros: "Everything.....the staff were excellent......pure and simple"
Cons: "One attendant walked by offering water - nice that they offered water in the middle of the flight. But she didn't even give customers the chance to raise their hands bec she walked by so fast saying "water, water, water." I wasn't even dozing off and I couldn't catch her and I was sitting by the aisle. Dirty bathrooms with doors that don't lock - not just one particular stall but more than one stall."
Pros: "Quick easy flight"
Cons: "Asked flight attendant to fill up sons water bottle as we had to empty it before we went through security and I forgot to refill it. Flight attendant was very rude and made a big deal out of having to fill it. Just felt her reaction was over board and quite uncalled for."
Pros: "Super nice crew!"
Cons: "Inaudible boarding"
Cons: "I tried to call your airlines to reserve a spot for humanitarian supplies. I run a rescue for dogs in Cancun. I could never get through to anyone and there is no info on your tickets about the cost of a third bag. I was charged an extra $500.00 for two extra bags that were carrying donated supplies to help the animals. But your airline made it a useless endeavor because they ended up costing more than they were worth. The people at the gate were unbending and I'm so disappointed that it is more important to you to make money than help non-profit organizations. I have run Isla Animals for 15 years and have had much help from kind airlines, I won't be flying yours or recommending yours to any dog lovers."
Cons: "Seat pitch is non existent, so are free food or drink options. Very uncomfortable seats, glad my flight was only 2.5 hours. Avoid this airline...go Westjet instead."
Cons: "Flight was delayed forced us to stay in Ottawa an extra night. Only compensation we received was a $10 meal voucher!!"
Pros: "I had an exit row seat so the extra room was much appreciated."
Cons: "Aircanada's method of multi zone boarding is a mess. Everyone queues up and blocks whatever zones actually can get on. The seat next to the exit door was freezing. The food was horrible. I understand airplane food is bad but this is some of the worst I have had. Our flight our was fine. There was no inflight entertainment for an 8+ hour flight - you had to rent iPads which is crazy these days. We were late to takeoff due to airport traffic which isn't the airlines fault but then because the customs baggage scanning system went down at Montreal my husband missed his connection - was eventually put on my flight after two trips to ticketing and three calls to aircanada but his bag never arrived in Chicago. We are still waiting for it."
Pros: "I didn't get on the previous flight"
Cons: "I didn't get on the previous flight"
Pros: "We upgraded to premium economy which made the trip perfect. There was so much more room!"
Pros: "Easy boarding process, nice crew members, food is great"
Cons: "Delayed flight"
Pros: "I liked the airport design at Montreal."
Cons: "the whole process in Montreal seemed cold. Not really friendly compared to our domestic flight from Los Angeles to Montreal. The crew weren't very friendly at all. It's as if we were bothering them to ask a question or for them to give a smile once in a while."
Pros: "It got us where we needed to go safely."
Cons: "No entertainment, understaffed (garbage from meal sat on tray tables for longer than any flight I've flown), uncomfortable seats."
Pros: "Ease of using in air entertainment w my own device"
Cons: "Lights, reading, did not work in our row. Very disengaged attendants stats yes that they needed to be reset. When we asked the 3 rd time she said she'd get us a light to use, never did. When requesting extra water and coffee we were directed to the rear of the plane to get our own refills. Toilet not clean paper empty. Crew on long, raucous break. Finally crew seen taking coffee pots into lavatory. What on earth? There was a distinct lack of engagement from the crew, in general with passengers , not just my husband and myself."
Pros: "Crew was fairly friendly and a little hands off. Food was the best I've had flying abroad thus far. Seats were okay. Was in economy so I can't expect too much but I would love if there was a little more room especially for people stuck in middle seats. Seats were fairly comfortable. There was a lot more leg room than I have before which made the 10+hr flight better!"
Cons: "Boarding didn't go well for me as I almost missed my flight due to delays (but that didn't make me feel upset towards Air Canada, just bad circumstances that I had to be honest about). Crew was fairly friendly - a little hands off (which is good) but I wasn't wowed by them. Wasn't a lot of movie options. I realize you can't get a TON but a few more current movies would have been nice."
Cons: "The airport in Montreal was confusing for continuing flights - lines not labeled well and too long"
Pros: "I didn't eat, so I really don't know about the food. However the flight attendants were very efficient and if you were wanting anything they were available early and all flight. We flew economy and I was impressed with the seat room, was a large plane though."
Cons: "The plane was very very hot."
Pros: "Everything was great."
Cons: "Movies were way too old and too little selection. If one does not have a mobile device has to pay for entertainment."
Pros: "Must have been a newer plane. Very quiet engine comfortable seats. I didn't use any onboard entertainment except my own."
Cons: "The two meals served on board were cheap. Very small portions and cheap containers were used."
Pros: "Great route! I went to Italy and this has been by far the best route and airline choice. Friendly staff, nice layove in Toronto"
Cons: "they did not have media screens on tans-atlantic fight. Although they did have a network for iPhones, iPads etc., network had very limited options and did not include favorites such as flight maps. Also, food was very basic and breakfast consisted of a piece of banana bread."
Cons: "Plane is dirty and dated. No entertainment"
Cons: "We sat at the back with no windows and there was no entertainment except for an app available through wifi on our phones."
Cons: "They sell special headphones so you cannot watch moviescwith out paying. And food is for sale as well, even on a 5 hour much delayed, international flight."
Cons: "Air canada rouge is a no frills low price airline, I probably wouldn't fly with them again despite the price point for that long"
Pros: "It wasn't a full flight, so there was more room to stretch out"
Cons: "Left my luggage behind (both mine and my daughter's) and I still haven't received it 3 days into my trip. Air Canada reps were not very helpful with information or solutions. I was in hold for almost 20min total (international call). Horribly unacceptable. All they initially offered was $50 to cover expenses (insulting)."
Pros: "Some crew members were awesome. Attentive, cheerful, genuinely concerned about your comfort and very nice."
Cons: "Some crew members were rushing, crashed the carts into your foot or hand, spilled drinks etc. Also the entertainment console has buttons on the armrest which were accidentally pressed by my arm all the time. From lights to volume and menu."
Pros: "Leg space was very tight and overall seating cramped.."
Cons: "One bag was delayed from Montreal to Venice. Required an airport return next day. Flight was not full so we could use several seats to sleep."
