Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "More than an hour late departing. Added to that it was almost an hour before luggage appeared. Not West Jet’s fault but it made us even later resulting in some of our long drive of our drive to Grand Canyon being in the dark."
Cons: "It was 30+ mins late and they didn’t keep us updated. Missed my connection"
Cons: "The gate in Calgary took approximately 45 minutes to allow off the plane . We arrived early but by the time we were able to leave the plane , boarding for our next flight had already begun. We had to go through customs and other planes from the US had similar problems. Therefore many were delayed."
Pros: "Crew was great"
Cons: "No entertainment at all, read the brochure a few times"
Cons: "Did not serve food."
Pros: "Amazing crew. Brand new plane."
Cons: "very poor customer service boarding and in flight."
Pros: "Maybe not Westjets fault but one of the affiliated companies. Loading up for Cranbrook, I could over hear the baggage loaders day, “we’re overweight”. Next thing you know, 4 people are short their luggage at the final destination. Takes one day out of my vacation."
Pros: "Crew was efficient and friendly. Everything went well."
Cons: "Crying baby on board ..."
Pros: "Friendly staff And I love it you go direct to Belize."
Pros: "It was smooth and uneventful."
Cons: "It was all fine."
Pros: "Uncomfortable, babies crying. Flight attendants disappeared after first drinks. No offers of head phones, snacks etc Delta Flight from Tampa to Minneapolis was excellent"
Cons: "Mentioned above"
Pros: "On time both sides"
Pros: "Fun, friendly crew on a boring routine short haul flight."
Cons: "Entertainment system was down."
Cons: "The wifi is paid.. no TVs"
Pros: "staff very pleasent"
Cons: "delays cancelled flights"
Pros: "Too much fog so plane could not land. Had to rebook out of Toronto for the late afternoon. Crew was very accommodating with my reschedule."
Cons: "Nothing to like. Never got on the plane. Not Westjet’s fault. They can’t control tye weather."
Cons: "- The unprofessional way the staff "sorted us out". Especially the lady at check-in. Our flight was from NY to Toronto and then connecting after a nine-hour layover from Toronto to London. On all flights, we got the seats in the middle of the aircraft allocated, which is challenging when you are on crutches. - The second flight to London was in a terribly old machine where the overhead compartments were not well equipped to accommodate my crutches. The only way they fitted was at the very back underneath all the luggage. So when I asked the flight staff to help me get my crutch to go to the toilet, as I could not get it myself, he asked: "do you really have to use it?". I considered that very rude! - The selling of the entertainment systems took forever, which meant that the food sale was very late. Almost 4 hours into the flight on an overnight flight is really late! Especially when people would prefer to sleep. Due to my medication, I had to wait for food, but it took forever. All in all, not the best experience"
Cons: "Late landing as usual and YEG's ground crew wasn't ready ... also as usual."
Pros: "The information given by the pilot overhead was timely and well delivered. The flight was smooth and we arrived safely."
Cons: "We sat for 4 hours on the runway. Aside from 1 crew member, they were impersonal, rude, and unaccomodating. They pilot spoke overhead very pleasantly and apologetically and encouraged walking around and using the restroom but they crew gave everyone a hard time. There was no offer of complementary food service or compensation for anyone despite being on the plane for double the amount of time planned. Finally, the in flight entertainment worked for maybe half hour of the actual flight with no explanation or acknowledgement."
Pros: "Crew was friendly."
Cons: "Lack of maintenance. Seats did not recline, seat in front of me was broken. No reading lights available. One washroom became inoperable. Just showing a lack of maintenance or cost saving measures until new planes are delivered. Not a great impression for a carrier striving to compete against Air Canada. I would say they are competing with Air Transat."
Cons: "Even though it was the first flight of the day, WestJet still left an hour late which meant I missed my connecting flight. That meant I also had to rebook my ground transportation an additional cost. Why they couldn't manage to get the first flight of the day out on time, I don't know. This stuff happens, and I am generally a patient and understanding person. That said, WestJet not only caused inconvenience and added expense, the airline had absolutely destroyed my snowboard bag. It was damaged so badly that I had to tape it up just so I could get out of the airport without losing my stuff everywhere. The WestJet employees didn't say anything about the damage, and clearly hoped I would just go away without making a claim. To make matters worse, they only pay part of the cost to replace my luggage."
Cons: "The stewardess (Stephanie was her name I think) grabbed my arm and pushed it out of her way rather than asking me to move. While it may sound dramatic, I am certainly not accustomed to a stranger putting their hands on me and it was hugely inappropriate and ruined my flight. This was my first WestJet flight after flying countless times with Air Canada. The whole experience was soured and I will never look at WestJet the same again."
Pros: "Contrary to my previous experience this flight was on time and the staff was very courteous"
Pros: "Liked the convenience of flying so close from home the crew was amazing dealing with a difficult lady. And the girl I sat beside is now my friend. Woohoo"
Pros: "The staff are super friendly. The prices are good and the travel times and locations are convenient and what we were looking for."
Cons: "Checking in was a bit of a pain - there was a WJ staffer helping us with the self serve kiosk. She obviously didn't know how to use it, and just hit the continue button and kept asking us to fill in the personal information on the screens. It was funny to laugh at afterwards but not at the time."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing about this extremely delayed flight"
Cons: "I was stuck at Pearson International for 5 hours before I was able to get on a different, direct West Jet flight which also ended up being severely delayed."
Cons: "Lots of delays on different flights for members of our party flying from various points in US to Calgary and on returns. Several folks had damage to their luggage, including wheels torn off of baggage and a cracked ski helmet."
Pros: "Everyone was understanding that the delay was outside of the crew’s control."
Cons: "The long delay. Scheduled to arrive at 9:30 pm but got in at 1:30 am"
Pros: "West jet employees worked hard to fix the mess they caused. Eventually getting me a ticket for another airline."
Cons: "Changed my flights with less than 3h notice. I’d payed extra to reduce wait times as I was flying with a child just over 2. Originally had me coming in to Vancouver at 9 am and leaving at 5:40pm. Not cool with a young child. Allmost missed the 1st flight getting it fixed, they also didn’t book my child in adjacent seats, despite pre-booking the seats on the flight days before."
Pros: "I like that there is a route from northern Vancouver Island to northern Alberta."
Cons: "There was nothing I disliked.................................."
Pros: "Liked that i could upgrade my seat to exit row seating for free online a day before my flight! And i had a smooth experience with kayak and checking my bag in and that was it! Convenient and smooth."
Cons: "The plane was a little chilly but nothing new."
Pros: "Extra leg room"
Cons: "Entertainment system didn’t work. Food was non descriptive. Service was spotty and far from attentive"
Pros: "Overall flight and connections were good. Board process was smooth and flight departed and arrived on time. Watch for baggage delays when arriving in Fort McMurray as they can sometimes be excessive. No entertainment provided on the smaller planes but most people have some form of entertainment with them."
Pros: "We were traveling with an infant and a toddler and the staff was helpful and gave us info about which bathroom had a changing table and how to hold the infant during take off and landing without us needing to ask for it."
Cons: "We had a bit of delay because the plane came in late but luckily enough the winds were favorable and the pilot was able to catch up."
Pros: "I really appreciated the leg room that we had on all our flights. The seating was most comfortable. Staff most friendly."
Pros: "One of the best flights I have had. On time, Great service and excellent entertainment system. Plus seat had lots of room as well"
Pros: "The crew was very helpful and polite. Short efficient trip."
Cons: "Flight was delayed over an hour and boarding took forever (much longer than usual and I fly pretty often)"
Cons: "So far better than most of the US airline."
Pros: "Enjoyed the flight on WestJet."
Cons: "I did not like Kayak, and will not use them again."
Pros: "Always on time and arrived early"
Cons: "Better snacks like porter"
Pros: "Friendly Staff , quick boarding, flight ON TIME"
Pros: "The flight was on time"
Cons: "No food, flight attendants were okay but not especially friendly"
Pros: "Staff was great. Flight was on time and no one got bumped"
Cons: "Our flight was delayed. At the gate no one announced anything, agents were just standing there looking around. People had to approach them one by one to see the reason for the delay."
