Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "Staff were ok."
Cons: "Flight was 3 hours delayed but they delayed it 30 minutes at a time. Giant lines to board, poorly organized. Flight overbooked. Finally we were seated and they announce another 30 min delay because the “casseroles” weren’t hot. Flight attendants were clumsy and dropped ice on my head. Tiny seats."
Pros: "Time!! All was on time! And arrived early !!"
Cons: "Pre-selection of seats,"
Pros: "A lot of empty seats so room for sleeping and good choice of movies."
Cons: "No information about the delay, no vaucher not excuses. Crew non existent during the flight compared to Asian airlines. Food was so so and not the greatest way to come home."
Cons: "Air Canada has completely gone down the tubes and super quickly."
Pros: "The flight wasn’t full, so I sat in my own row,?which offered spare leg room (I’m 6’2”). Time to fix the leg room issue on Rouge flights — it’s 2018."
Cons: "Crew seemed uninterested in general. On phones in back while people struggling to find luggage space. Coffee cups and plastic utensils, etc, stored in overhead bins so people at the back had to search for carry-on space elsewhere, again, without assistance from on board crew. Offered service only once and many were sleeping so didn’t get anything. The overall check-in process could be easier, as the app doesn’t always work as it should."
Cons: "seat pitch pretty tight."
Pros: "Typical Air Canada flight. Not great but not horrible (surprisingly)"
Cons: "The entertainment systems were broken on our seats but they did give us a small discount voucher."
Cons: "flight was cancelled. poor communication."
Pros: "Generally, AC flights are OK to good, but they have a problem with SFO, especially from YVR."
Cons: "Six hours late. Mechanical problem. Boarding crew often incomprehensible but we got a food voucher. On board, two crew members in general seating were disinterested to the point of rudeness. I flew at least eight times this year in NA and Europe. These guys were the worst! It was like WE kept them late."
Pros: "I like that they are Canadian"
Cons: "I don't like how unhelpful they are, their food, their staff, the way they treat clients etc. Seriously my least favourite company to fly with. I'd rather pay extra and fly WestJet anyday!"
Pros: "price, flight wasn't full, water offered through cabin between meals"
Cons: "No menu of food description before meals. Only get choice of beef or chicken"
Pros: "On time, entertainment screen"
Cons: "that there is a charge for headphones"
Pros: "The staff on board the plane were excellent."
Cons: "The wireless entertainment system is slow and glitchy and did not work on an older iPad. The food was subpar but by airline standards was middle of the road."
Pros: "Friendly staff"
Cons: "Old plane, no in flight entertainment"
Pros: "Buying wine was a good idea. It's a good cure for frustrations."
Cons: "I had trouble checking in online AND printing boarding pass at kiosk. Plane left 45 minutes late. Boarding was chaotic. Headphones did not work with entertainment system. Drink order was incorrect... I just had to pretend I was on crappy public transport for two hours for a one hour journey. I laughed out loud when they announced on flight that Air Canada was voted best North American airline. Riiiiight."
Cons: "1, no food 2, pay for the luggage 3, very small leg room 4, too low temperature in the cabin and no blanket"
Cons: "Crew was rude to me."
Cons: "no entertainment and poor seat selection"
Pros: "Crew were excellent, flight itself was comfortable once finally underway"
Cons: "My flight was delayed, never given an explanation. My bag did not arrive with my flight from Victoria to Toronto. I was never told why this happened, and I was refused entry through customs and forced to miss my connecting flight."
Pros: "Short flight"
Cons: "Cramped seating"
Cons: "Horrible, the most uncomfortable plain I ever been to"
Pros: "No complaint"
Pros: "the service was great"
Cons: "the movies were old"
Pros: "Very friendly & helpful flight attendants."
Pros: "Air Canada accommodated me on an earlier flight saving me 3 hrs."
Cons: "The lavatory sink was clogged. The audio to movies was inaudible, as though the picture was streaming and the audio was lost. The crew offered little assistance to a clearly frail elderly passenger who had a very difficult time rising from her seat and using the lavatory."
Pros: "Short flight - no issues"
Pros: "The movie selection was very good."
Cons: "The seats were so close to together that whenever the person behind me moved, I got hit in the back. Anything that was dropped on the floor was hard to get since they were so close together which also made it hard to get in and out of the seats. The main meal was fine, but the second meal was mediocre."
Pros: "The price was decent."
Cons: "I was travelling with a 13 yr old and expected to be seated together when I booked. I didn't know I needed to pluck my seats if I didn't want to pay extra. The woman at boarding moved our seats, however, closer at boarding, which I thought was pretty considerate."
Pros: "Comfy seats, awesome new movies to watch. Great staff, very helpful"
Cons: "No free snacks, I mean they came around with drinks but you had to pay for all of the food"
Cons: "Flight left two hours late. They split my wife and I up despite having our tickets for two months and checking in well before the flight and then lost our luggage and delivered it a full day later than they told us."
Cons: "Missed my conection flight Bitirsh airline miss id someone at boarding process , let fly under my name to budapest. Huge securty mistake. I stock in London for 6 hours. My luggage was not locatible for the airlines. No compensation was offered"
Pros: "Crew was surly overall on flight. On ground they looked bored-one on first leg of flight seemed hung over"
Cons: "Changed my flight home do my layover went from 1 hr 30 min to 5 hours!"
Pros: "The space I had for my feet and legs"
Cons: "The lights that had to stay on during a red eye flight"
Pros: "Crew was efficient, and the plane was on time."
Cons: "The seating and luggage storage was a bit cramped."
Pros: "I didn't like anything about it."
Cons: "The crew needs to learn how to effectively execute the meal/drink service. It takes entirely too long. Also, on an international Flight, over three hours, you don't provide a snack!? And the small cup of soda we get takes over an hour for some people to get. The seats are entirely too close. I'm 5'9 and my knees were digging into the seat in front of me. Then the guy in front of me reclined and I had absolutely no room. I had to turn to the side. We didn't board until around the time we were supposed to depart. We were over a hour behind schedule. They held the plane to get a passenger's bag off because he was stuck in customs. Unless it's a funeral I need to get to, I'm not flying Air Canada again."
Pros: "Very fast flight"
Cons: "In flight Audio didn't work"
Cons: "Flight was delayed over 4 hours due to Air Canada needing a mechanic to check and sign off on the tire tread on one of the wheels, the ground staff enforced the carry-on bag size arbitrarily and inconsistently, and the entertainment system froze up and reset itself at least 3 times on the flight. Apart from the captain, the rest of the Air Canada staff exhibited the usual bureaucratic and defensive behavior I have unfortunately seen multiple times before. They're expensive (with a nasty computer algorithm that raises the price by over $100 each time you browse flights. The first time I checked, it was $300+; by the 3rd time it was over $600. When I used a VPN, the price magically went down to $300 plus, which was still a lot) and the experience is generally unpleasant. I have to brace myself for their lack of common sense behavior every time I deal with them. If I didn't have to fly with them, I wouldn't."
Pros: "Superb! Great flight, great food, great service! Will definitely fly Air Canada again!"
Pros: "The flight was excellant. Something that horizon air needs to aspire too."
Pros: "Great service"
Cons: "Seating is too tight"
Pros: "Standard plane conditions."
Cons: "Flight was two hours delayed. Plane downgraded. Seat reassigned without notice. But worst was the gate agent who took my carry on because the bins were "absolutely 100% full." When I got on there were at least 8 spots for bags right around my seat. Some customers after me still had their bags. And I had to wait an extra 30 minutes at the baggage claim waiting. When I asked the lead flight attendant to get the name of the gate agent before we left she said she would do her best but then forgot. She also tried to defend the gate agent by explaining the flight was full and why I should have been glad they took my bag."
Pros: "Great service (Business Class)"
Cons: "Delayed 1.5 hours due to fueling issue in YYJ (not Air Canada's fault) Breakfast (business class) never varies and is getting somewhat boring"
Pros: "The aircraft was clean, flight on time, service and staff were very professional and courteous."
Cons: "Boarding should be from the rear of the aircraft to reduce congestion in the aisles. Need more vegetarian food options."
Pros: "I got to where I was going."
Cons: "Air Canada acts like a European low fare airline when it is actually just a major domestic carrier that nickels and dimes for everything and charges full cost."
Pros: "Effective. Good crew. No (bad) surprises."
Cons: "Impossible to reserve seat when booking my f not booked on the air ananda website Very cheap food and no food selection on board ( intercontinental flights) I fly 25/30 intercontinental per year... I had never happened to find such a poor company around. very disappointing"
Pros: "I was able to be put on later flights (my first leg was delayed several hours due to weather), but the staff either didn't have information and/or directed me elsewhere to obtain information. That's about all good I can say about the trip."
Cons: "Poor communication from Air Canada staff about when the next flight would be, moving us off the plane after it had to return to Victoria, only to send us back on within ten minutes or so."
