Terrible Service!Cons:DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION! Would give negative stars for the horrible experience if possible. My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta and had planned some trips to nearby San Sebastian and Mascota for the day following our scheduled pickup with Budget. Friends had shared bad experiences of rental agents forcing additional insurance to make their commission, but I had never had such a terrible experience! The rental agent ("Antonio") behind the desk was standoffish from the get-go but he seemed to get extremely offended when I told him that I had coverage through my existing auto policy in Canada and vehicle replacement coverage through my credit card. He started to get angry with us so I decided to call my insurance agent and have her speak with him directly to explain that I have coverage in Mexico. He was extremely rude to her as well and didn't want anything to do with her. He then went on to say that he had no car for us and that we would not be able to get a car at Budget unless we purchased the additional insurance. The rental cost for the midsize vehicle on Kayak was $23.41 CAD total (including taxes and fees) for a 4 day rental. The agent wanted to charge us an additional $35 USD ($45 CAD) per day for insurance! He wasted over 5 hours of our honeymoon and round trip cab fare from our hotel to this location. I have used Budget many times in Canada for car, pickup truck and moving truck rentals but this experience left my wife and I extremely disappointed in Budget!Reviewed 12 Aug. 2016

Cons:They offered compact car for $136 for 7 day rental @ puerto vallarta. They took 75 minutes to pick us up from the airport, then drove 5 minutes to their office. Finally tacked on $800 for insurance making the total over $900. Needless to say, we did not rent a carReviewed 10 Jan. 2021

Cons:I didn't like that the price advertised was so deceiving (it was advertised at $2/day but ended up costing $50/day with only the required third party liability insurance). When I dropped off the car they claimed I had damaged it (a small nick on the far lefthand side of the windshield). The spot was so small I wouldn't have noticed if it was there when I picked up the car, but they claimed I needed to buy them a whole new windshield (about $200). They left me waiting in the lobby for 30-40 minutes before saying they were willing to take $40 for the damage. I have filed a formal complaint with Budget against this office and will never rent from Budget again.Reviewed 26 Jun. 2016

Total bait and switch operationPros:Cars are usually newer.Cons:I rented a car off the Kayak app for a good price but when I got to the Budget office in Mexico they sell you an EXPENSIVE insurance that you MUST buy. They offer you 3 options for insurance: cheap, medium and the expensive one. I went with the cheap one and the agent WOULD NOT let me pick that one after I told him about 5 times that I knew what I was doing. He started telling my girlfriend all these worse case scenarios to scare her and it worked. I went with it just so he'd shut up and let me leave with my (now scared gf) because of his "if you get kidnapped by the cartels" stories. As it was ahe was terrified of going down there and this pushy agent didn't help at all.Reviewed 14 Jan. 2016

Pros:Nothing about my experience was liked! I was supposed to be picked up from the airport, never happened. A “Hertz” driver saw me standing and kindly offered to drop me off and I thankfully accepted. After being dropped off, I walked into a building not worthy of a major name brand such as Budget. However, this definitely was the setup for the debauchery to come next. My reservation was for a full size car 283.00 for the holiday day weekend. These gentlemen actually quoted a hold in paso of MEX $25,000 (US $1,252.00). That’s roughly 1000.00 hold. I said no thank and proceeded to leave. Then the barter start and price started dropping which was super suspicious.Cons:My quoted price from the reservation should have advised that a 1k hold could apply. That additional insurance is required even if your own coverage applies. Also it would have been nice to at least pickup from that airport and taken to a place of business to conduct a transaction not negotiate credit holds and inflated price schemes.Reviewed 1 Jun. 2021

Cons:I booked a Jeep Wrangler but when I arrived the car agency said they didn’t have any available and that they had sold their fleet of jeeps months before. They then tried to get me to rent a compact SUV for same price . I ended up not renting any cars and took an Uber instead .Reviewed 26 Aug. 2019

Pros:Car was in very good conditionCons:Budget employee attempted to sell us the very basic liability policy for $30 per day that was already included in our price. Thankfully we brought the original website contract with us and showed this to him. He then tried to sell us a much larger liability policy for $30 per day. We pointed out another section in the contract that said they could not charge more than $15 per day for the larger liability. He then gave it to us for the $15 per day. No reason to use budgetPros:I thought I would like being with an international rental agency, but turns out they gouge you fire cash even when giving you a trickle vehicle.Cons:The price and the lies about our ability to find better. A 4 day rental cost $360 for a tiny Nissan Versa that hardly fit my family. For a Jetta from Gecko rental cars it a have been $200. They sold me hard and I was too tired to argue. Gecko, who we rented with later on, are a fantastic local company who price fairly, give you quality vehicles, and deserve your business. Never use budget or and of the on airport rentals.Reviewed 29 Dec. 2016

Cons:First of all, they hiked up the price from 27.00 to 215.00!! Then they gave a car that had the front grill pasted on with glue!! It would have flown off as soon as we left! They agreed to change the car, but imagine what would have happened if we hadn't seen the damage!! Never again am I renting with Budget!!!Reviewed 4 Jul. 2016
