The lied me. The agent sold me an upgrade that I didn't want. He didn't tell me anything about the upgrade, he just said that there was an error that would be solved when I return the car. Surprise: there wasn't any error and they regret to return the money because I signed the contract (that wasn't well explained). It's a scam. Don't rent a car here or in avis.

During the booking process Kayak just added besides my wish San Jose airport also Oakland airport. It was my bad that I did not check in detail prior to final booking but at the end I rented a car at a location, which I could not cancel or switch station. Money was wasted, therefore. I blame besides my own foolishness also the research form from kayak. Last car rental with kayak for me :(

Almost a month later affirm is charging me and hertz only gave me a partial refund and I’ve had to reopen this issue with them but it has yet to be resolved.

Car was clean & in good condition. Excellent communication from everyone especially the manager Tess & the lady who checked us out at the gate, they could not have been friendlier or more helpful. One exception of when picking up the young lady did not seem to know we were covered for insurance & presented us with a bill for $99 she said which was for an extra day, we were not taking an extra day which was clearly stated on our rental voucher (which she did not want to see) I questioned the amount to be charged & this was amended immediately. Overall would definitely use this service again.

They should rename themselves to PayMore. I received an extra charge of 112 dollars with no explanation or notice. It was apparently for gas even though I returned the car with a full tank. I was put on an hour long hold to dispute this. Waste of time and no respect for renters.

I did indicate I wanted to rent from SFO airport and it also apparently gave me options for Oakland airport rentals and I rented a car from there without realizing. Duh! Will anyway it was nonrefundable and I'm screwed out of $140. So since kayak sent me a request via email for a review of my car rental it's fair to say it didn't go so well!

I reserved the car and was scheduled to pick it up at 8PM. I showed up a little bit late, and I assume this would be no problem, because the Oakland Airport Rental Car Center is open 24 hours a day. When I got to the car rental center, no one was at the Payless desk, and another lady told me that Payless closes at 8PM. So why would I be allowed to reserve a car for pickup at the time that the desk closes? So anyway, I had to change my trip plans because I had no rental car.

Scheduled a pick up for 9 am. We called at 8 am to ensure our car was ready; they said it was. We arrived only to have them let us know that they were sold out and had been sold out since 6 am and we were lied to. We were told that we had to wait two and a half hours if not more. It wasn’t until we waited in a line of 20+ people to speak to the clerk that told us we could leave earlier if we took an E.V. The customer service at hertz was horrible and thrifty was better.

Pick-up truck

The truck I reserved wasn’t available so dealership had me get a more expensive suv. I should have been offered the suv at the same price of my original reserved vehicle. Worker at pick-up had me sign up for me coverage even after tellling him I already signed up for different coverage and I didn’t know I was charged for the extra coverage until after my receipt was emailed to me. Won’t be returning to Enterprise for any future car rentals.

No traveller's info transfered to the rental so we had to wait while they entered it all manually. Total cost was 31% higher than the estimate.

Cons:

I called Alamo twice to confirm that my SUV rental would be AWD as this was the sole reason for my rental to drive into snowy weather and both times was told I would have AWD with any SUV rental. However, at OAK airport I was told I am not guaranteed AWD and in additional OAK airport is the only Alamo location in the Bay Area that charges an additional fee for AWD. Eventually the agent did make an effort to help me get what we needed but the experience was unnecessarily disconcerting.

Full-size SUV

Alamo didn’t have the car I booked when we flew into Oakland airport at 8:30pm. We had booked a full sized suv 4 months prior and they had sold out . They advised us to come back the next day so we drive 2 hours to our already confirmed hotel and then the next morning 2 hours back to alamo only to be told that they didn’t have a full sized suv available because they were sold out. There were about 25 full sized SUV’s on their lot when they told us this but they said they were reserved for other customers who had booked full sized. Blew my mind. We turned in our car and went to Avis where they gave us a 4 runner for a fraction of what our full sized suv through Alamo had cost.

Intermediate SUV

The license plate was rattling on the car while driving. Only screwed in on the top of the plate and no screws on the lower portion of the plate, which caused it to rattle at higher speeds or going over rougher roads or bumps.

Passenger Van

I reserved my car months ago with Avis and I even called that morning to confirm it. By the time I went to pick up my car at 3pm my scheduled pick up time, the front desk told me that there’s no car for me to pick up. They offered us 2 SUVs instead of one 12 seat passenger van. We asked if they can help check if other nearby Avis has the 12 passenger van. She just throw me the customer service line and said they don’t have access to other Avis. Not helpful at all and they don’t even care if they ruin your plan. We understand things happen but at least you call us ahead of time so we have time to find alternative.

The drop-off representative was very helpful and understanding of the issues we faced with our car rental.

Cons:

The car had no windshield wiper fluid and no UBS ports so we couldn't charge our phones and have the benefit of a nav system.

Compact

My car wasn’t ready. The car they tried to give me was not the same car that was on my reservation. I had to wait almost an hour for a car. This was very annoying after traveling all day.

it was terrible. the clerk was rude, insolent, hostile and yelled at me. i hadnt intentionally reserved an EV (I don't live in the bay area and don't know the infrastructure) but he told me i had to take one. he wouldn't tell me his name or call his manager.

Pickup took 2 hours. No cars available at arrival despite having a reservation for over a month. The only positive aspect was a free upgrade when original vehicle class was not available.

When we arrived they didn’t have any cars due to low inventory per the agent at the counter. Told us my wait time almost 1-2 hours. Then tried to up sell me for upgrade if I wanted to get a car now. I said willing to upgrade as long as my balance is applied agent told me they cannot because it was a 3rd party like Kayak.. finally after an hour manager did come out and helped me out Kayak should not be representing since it’s very concerning that rental car agency don’t belief u guys are true partners. In future I will not be using Kayak or Dollar
