Cons: Complete nightmare experience. At the counter in the airport got changed to Hertz without further explanation. Hertz said they could not manage my card and changed me again with Dollar. After 2 hs waiting at the counter, finally I had a car. Additionally, got charged extra for a scratch I did not do. Even tough I have the pre rental damage report stating the issue. Make yourselves a favor and NEVER rent with these guys, the worst experience ever

Love these guys
Pros: Great location for me -- pick up/drop off direct from work. Avoid rush hour if you can.
Cons: Hard to find the first time. Take the elevators at the south end of Eaton's Center 2nd floor.

Car was not available as promised! Manager incredibly rude.
Cons: We reserved a car for $54.00 for one day to explore Niagara Falls. We arrived to pick up and were told that there were no cars available and "sorry, but you'll just have to wait for a few hours because there may be some cars returning this afternoon." There were at least 3 people in line ahead of us with the exact same predicament. We asked "how many cars are you expecting back?" Their manager said "we're not really sure...there may be none. We've had a man waiting since this morning so he gets the first one anyway." We told them that this was incredibly disappointing and frustrating and requested a full refund. She refused and said that because we had booked through Kayak as a 3rd party, then they weren't responsible for refunding us. The manager was distinctly rude to all of us and raised her voice several times, insisting there was nothing they could do and it wasn't her problem. We asked if they could at least call around for us, as we didn't have Canadian cell phones and were unable to find another rental company. They reluctantly made a few phone calls, joking with each other throughout the process and being generally insensitive. The managers name is Kim Tan. I suggest that she be fired or, at the very least, spoken with about the importance of elementary customer service and basic human decency. Is it really too much to ask to provide polite, efficient, kind service to people your business has assured a pre-paid service to? The other attendant, Adriane, finally called down the street to the other Dollar rental and said, "oh yeah they have a few cars". We went there and were able to rent a small car for $150/day, which we ended up doing because we really wanted to be done with the situation and get to Niagara falls. In the end, we paid 4x the price for what could have been a very simple, enjoyable experience. I hope that Kayak will at least refund us our original $54 pre-payment, and that Dollar Rental will not allow overbooking of their cars. It really does affect the lives of your customers! We were deeply unimpressed with this entire situation and will never rent with Dollar again.

Pros: Agency noted some minor paint damage ahead. Solid car for an economy rental.
Cons: It's tough to find the first time but I've been golden since. Make sure to take the south elevator closer to Queen W in the Eaton Center up. There are two and the north elevator only goes to the 4th floor.

Great Location (when you find it!)
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff Great location once you know where it is Easy access if you work downtown Take the south elevator in the Eaton Center -- the north elevator only goes to the 4th floor!

Wrong Dates Booked
Pros: The man at the reception desk was lovely and polite.
Cons: I showed up and my booking had been scheduled for the wrong dates and had already begun and finished before I arrived for pickup! I didn't receive a call or anything about the mistake. I had to find a last minute car rental from a different company across the city and it was very stressful.

Dollar/Thrifty is very unreliable - I would avoid.
Cons: We booked on Kayak five days before we needed the car. The day before we were to pick up the rental, they called to tell us they were cancelling it because they'd sold out of cars. It's ridiculous to cancel on such short notice and clearly their system sucks. I will never book another rental with Dollar/Thrifty again because they're simply unreliable. And their customer service was indifferent towards the situation and offered no solution.

Cons: fortunately My flight was delay, I informed the rental staff prior my departure from Edmonton but they weren't able to provide me a rental vehicle even if I notify them.

On hold for 30 minutes
Pros: Car was clean
Cons: We had a medical emergency and it was very difficult to get ahold of staff in Toronto. Transferred 4x to customer service in India. Our issue took 2 hours of our time on the phone to be solved.

Don't pay for navigation system!
Pros: I was pleased with the nice little Toyota Corolla I got. New and clean! The drop off experience was fast and easy.
Cons: I didn't want to use my cellular data for navigation while in Canada so I paid $17/day for their navigation system. Big mistake! It took 30-40 minutes to find satellites and randomly lost signal (I had to reenter my destination every 6 minutes or so, sometimes while driving on the highway!). It also adverises mobile internet hot spot capabilities but this feature never worked. So in addition to paying for the navigation system, I still had to use my cellular data!

Good price and good car
Pros: The car is good and price is right.
Cons: It took me a while to fine the Dollar site. I only see other car rental sign when I walked into the parking structure.

Great location for local workers
Pros: I worked at Bay + Dundas and rent weekends mostly. Pick up after work is easy and drop off Monday morning also easy. The staff are friendly and work to ensure cars are available.
Cons: Location is a bit tough to find the first time but after that it's easy to get in/out.

Pros: Very quick and the car is excellent. I don't think I waste any time on the pickup and reservation. Return is still nice. No any problem on this trip. I didn't have any troubles others had mentioned online.

Dollar great, don't get third party Kayak insurance though
Pros: Everything about the car hire (with Dollar) was fantastic except the third party insurance offered on the Kayak page. Do not agree to the insurance on the Kayak page. It is a third party insurance (not through Dollar), and you can get stuck (as I did) refusing the insurance offered by Dollar, only to have an error with the third party insurance. I then had to go back to Dollar and ask for insurance directly from them, which was a hassle. Would recommend Dollar, though.

Car not ready at pickup time - Upgrade available at a cost
Pros: Quick and efficient, car was clean
Cons: Was told car wouldn't be ready at pickup time but could 'upgrade' for $25 to have a car that was available at the time I asked for. In my opinion, if a car isn't available at the time you booked then this should have been a free upgrade. They didn't provide the services I asked for.

Kayak car rental
Pros: The clerk called and spoke to the manger about the price and adjusted it before I had a chance to complain. The rental vehicle was clean and fueled. Had to wait for the vehicle but was compensated in the end.
Cons: The wait for the vehicle and the attempt to give me a much smaller SUV at the beginning.

Convenient Location for Church & Wellesley
Pros: Friendly staff. The office was not obvious at first. It doesn't have the look of a typical rent-a-car location. But, it is also not as busy as a typical location. The car was new and clean. Also, the gas tank was full (I really hate it when they tell you to bring it back at some level less than full.)
Cons: The pick-up process was slow.

Pros: The car was very clean and the agent effective as it was a long weekend and he was on his own.
Cons: I did not like the access to the rental office. It was my first time at this location and I couldn't get any help on how to find the rental kiosk. Once I found it everything went well!

No car for me
Pros: Nothing, I got to the location and they did not even have a car available for me! I called kayak to complain and they couldn't find me in their system even though they took my credit card number.
Cons: Everything about my experience was horrible and I will NEVER use your services again.

Drop-off was a breeze
Pros: The drop off was painless. The employee didn't even go over the inspection sheet; just took the keys, checked the miles, and let me go on my way!
Cons: The ONLY downside is the location; 5th floor of a parking garage with quite a corkscrew to get up.

Good price and nice car
Pros: The Dollar rental office at Toronto Pearson was shabby and awful, and has been that way for some time. Sad to see the company does not care about the appearance of their office for their own staff and customers. However their customer service is great and I'd recommend them.

Did not have what was reserved and took over 45 mi
Pros: Counter rep tried to fix it and finally went and got the car herself
Cons: Wrong vehicle not on site not an equivalent vehicle to a Tahoe

Easy and quick rental car service
Pros: Very quick and easy rental car service. Everyone was very friendly.
Cons: The few extra goverment fees and such, which were disclosed before, during, and after the rental.

Pros: 1- I needed a bigger car than what I had booked originally, but the upgrade rate was very reasonable. 2- I was late for two hours on return due to heavy traffic. They didn't charge me any extras. Very efficient, friendly, and helpful staff.

Bad re-fueling policy
Pros: Car was new
Cons: Imposed a difficult requirement regarding re-fueling, but did not explain or offer prepaid gas. The charge that I received due to that failure was four times the price of the original rental. I could have rented a much better car for that price.

Pros: The person behind the counter at Dollar was very courteous, fast, and pleasant. I was also very happy she didn't try to up-sell me on insurance like so many other companies do.
Cons: I had two small problems: 1. I had some difficulty locating on the reservation email with which company I had reserved my car. I believe it was because it was on page 2. Maybe the rental company name could have been more prominent, hire on the page/email or maybe the logo larger? 2. Coming out of the airport toward the rental cars, there wasn't a Dollar/Thrifty sign sign indicating where the counter was located. We ended up going to the Hertz counter and they directed us to the Dollar counter.

Pros: The pickup location was at the airport which decreased the amount that we had to walk.
Cons: We were charged an additional $40 after I let the agent know that our flight out had changed and we would need the car for 2 additional hours. The Rav4 that we got was pretty dirty when we got it. We fould garbage tucked inbetewwn the seats and in the armrest.
