Book Thrifty car rentals in Toronto

• What is the best pick-up location for renting a car in Toronto?

While most travellers that arrive in the city of Toronto by air will choose to book their car rentals at one of the two airports in the city, that does not mean you still can't book a great car rental if you are not arriving by air or if you are already in the city and decide you later want to rent a car. Two examples of this include Thrifty locations that travellers will find right in the center of the city. In the Harbourfront neighborhood, there is a Thrifty location on Front Street West that is perfect for travellers in this area, and then farther away from the water, there's also a location on Carlton Street right adjacent to Allan Gardens that makes a great pick-up location.

• What is the benefit of using Thrifty to rent a car?

One thing that travellers should know about when they choose to book Thrifty car rentals in Toronto is that this company has an amazing loyalty rewards program called Blue Chip Rewards. This program offers benefits such as quicker reservations, amazing discounts, the ability to receive priority counter service, or even skip the counter, plus you can do things like adding a free authorized additional driver meaning someone else can share in the driving fun during your trip to Toronto. This is also a great way to earn points for substantial discounts on future rentals with Thrifty.

• Where is the best place to park in Toronto?

Like a lot of major cities in North America, you are sure to find plenty of free parking spaces as you get to the outskirts of Toronto or into more suburban communities. The trick for most drivers is finding places to park when they are at some of the more popular destinations in the downtown Toronto area. While it will often be difficult to find free parking spots in this area, one of the best ways to make sure you can utilize all the available parking options is to purchase a temporary parking permit from the city of Toronto that travellers can purchase in increments of 24 hours, 48 hours or for one week. This allows travellers the ability to enjoy Toronto without worrying about paying for parking every time they stop.

That place is truly a scam. They didn't have a car available and suggested waiting 2-3 hours. Since my booking was for one day, I declined their offer. They did not refund any money.Reviewed 1 Oct 2026

Kayak advertised a 5 series bmw electric . I drove over 100 km to the airport location for this specific vehicle . When I arrived thrifty informed me that they do not carry the bmw 5 and that kayak wrongly advertised that car.Reviewed 9 Mar 2026

The staff were friendly enough and did their jobs. I had a one way rental (pick up and drop off at different airports) and the car they gave me had out of date tags, snow tires in July that made a lot of road noise and a potential wheel bearing issue that made the car vibrate on the highway.Reviewed 8 Jul 2024

No chairs in the rental office. You have to stand up while waiting for the only employee to get to you (and it could be a long wait). No modern credit card machine so I had to be in contact with my credit card provider in order to authorize the deal. No way to buy CDW online (I got an email saying the order was confirmed, but was unable to find it using the thrifty website). I rented a car from the exact same location 2 years ago and had the exact same issues. It seems that nothing had changed since. The car itself was excellent, but the headache around the order was a letdown.Reviewed 8 Jun 2024
