BewareCons:I would recommend avoiding this rental company in Munich! I met several people in line after checkout that we're also extremely unhappy. We all exchanged contact information in case we need to contact the corporate office to resolve the issues. I told the counter agent that I did not want the additional coverage and even showed him a copy of the coverage I purchased online at the time of booking. I signed the initial contract, but I did not have the correct vehicle when I got to the garage. A member of our staff said I had to go all the way to the counter again instead of helping me at the kiosk there in the garage. I went back to the counter to get the keys switched and the agent had me sign a new contract. Because I am not able to read German, I did not notice that he had added the damage waiver on the new contract he had me sign. When I went all the way back to the garage, the car was dirty inside and out, but I didn't want to go all the way back to the counter again. It also did not have the GPS included as the counter agent had said, so I again had to go to the golden circle kiosk to ask for GPS, which of course was a $100+ fee I had to pay in addition...when I returned the vehicle I noticed my receipt said they charged me an additional 266 euro and the agent in the garage said he didn't know why and that I would need to speak to a counter agent. Of course, he didn't hand me back my packet with the contract and then after waiting over an hour in line, the counter agent told me I needed my original contract and they would not refund the charge. Because I've worked in the rental industry, I know that they have all of this information in their computer and keep a signed copy. After all of this, they handed me an email address where I could complain. Another person I met in line was being charged for damage to the car that was already existing when he rented it - even WITH $700 worth of full coverage damage insurance he purchased through hertz. I will try to get my money refunded when I get back to the states, but right now I am not hopeful.Reviewed 23 Sep. 2017

Best way to travel with luggage in EuropePros:The car was great, and the value even better. Three week point to point drive for under $550 USD. The trick was to pick it up at a non-airport location in Germany. Italy and Ireland tack on mandatory silly expenses, so we just started in Germany and drove through Italy, among some other countries.Cons:Be sure to double check what they're charging you versus what you reserved. I'm assuming Hertz didn't have the smaller car I reserved, so they gave us a slightly bigger one and tried to charge more. I didn't speak German, but had the printed out confirmation page with me, so after showing that, he was able to make a couple calls and bring my bill back down to what was originally confirmed. Also, the downtown Munich location I picked the car up in wasn't the easiest to find since it was a small office inside a large office building, then the car wasn't easy to find either, but neither of those searches took more than 10 minutes.Reviewed 4 Oct. 2016

Pros:The service at Munich railroad station was excellent. The car was fine.Cons:I had booked 2 weeks from Munich center to Frankfurt airport for Euro 335.02. Due to a 3 hour train delay and closing of your off site office, I had to pick up the car at the train station for Euro 419.55 with return at the Frankfurt airport. However at the airport they added an airport surcharge for a total of Euro 529.75. I was given no choice but to pay the extra Euro110 even though I had booked for a return at the airport. You understand that I was very unhappy with the inflated and unexpected charges by HertzReviewed 12 Jun. 2016

I felt decieved!Cons:At pickup and because i ask the woman told me that i could pay with cash with no problem. When i delivered the car not only the charge on my credit card was automatic but also they wanted more money than previous reservation. when i asked the man why, he just answered me it was adicional taxes and airport fees. this is not correct, i should have been warned and be told the TOTAL AND FINAL PRICE on my internet reservation, not some price that in the end will have adding some other strange fee. this is deceiving peopleReviewed 21 Jun. 2018

Limited hours and limited availabilityPros:The car came with complimentary GPS There was plenty of storage space in the economy car The staff was helpfulCons:The location was only open from 9am until 11am on the day of our pick up, so when we arrived after 11am, we missed the opportunity to pick up our rental car on the day we needed it. We returned the next day to pick up our car within 30 minutes of the location opening. They had already rented it to someone else. So we were stuck with a manual transmission instead of the automatic transmission we had pre-paid for. Our white car was very dirty on the outside when we picked it up and clearly hadn't gone through a car wash before it was made available for rental. The GPS in the car did a terrible job of directing us to our hotel destinations in both Rotheburg ob der Tabur and Freiburg - sending us down streets that dead-ended in Rotheburg and onto a pedestrian-only street in Freiburg.Reviewed 28 Nov. 2016

Fraudulent chargesPros:The pickup and drop off was easy. Car was clean and was an automatic as promised.Cons:We had pre-paid for the car so there should not have been any thing charged to us later. When we picked up they asked if anyone else will be driving, my husband said he might drive. They asked for his driver's license and wrote down his number. Then we were off, after a few days returned the car and came back home. Next day, we see a charge of $150 on our credit card. We called Hertz and they said it was for the extra driver. I told them that no one at the counter told us there will be an extra charge to add another driver. The Hertz person said they should have had us sign a contract for the additional driver, I told them they did not. I asked for the charges to be dismissed and she said, if there is a clause in the contract about additional driver, they will not dismiss the charges. When I said that is fraud and we were not given a contract or an opportunity to say yes to the charges, I was told that I need to take it up with my credit card company and have them reverse the charges. Which is what we ended up doing. Never heard back from Hertz, although, they were supposed to contact us about the charges. Never again will we rent from Hertz.Reviewed 25 Jun. 2017

Clean, brand new car and exceptionally friendly agentPros:This was a very pleasant experience especially compared to car rentals in general. The Hertz agent at the Munich Hbf counter was professional, warm, and friendly, and everything took less than a few minutes. The car was completely new and in great shape, had built in gps and all the trappings.Cons:You have to walk over to the actual garage two blocks away. The car was missing a useable windshield scraper for winter in the Alps.Reviewed 2 Jan. 2018

Pros:Upgraded car with navigationCons:I tried to pick up my car early on the same day but could not. Although I had paid for the full day I was adamantly refused. I have never had this happen with HErtz (or any other rental company for that matter). This disrupted our European vacation.Reviewed 8 Oct. 2017

Pros:I got the car I requested. European Ford, with manual shift, was fun to drive in Europe. I enjoyed it.Cons:One minor detail. The driver seat was a bit too low, but I found how to fix that. then all was well.Reviewed 23 Jul. 2018

Car was promised but pickup a nightmare!Pros:The car was bigger than I expected, and comfortable. Great price.Cons:Very hard to find Hertz station at pickup, and the worker didn't tell us if the car was diesel or gas. This proved almost impossible to figure out later when we needed to fill up, as we didn't speak German and the manuals were all in German. We then couldn't get a hold of the office to confirm or ask, and wasted 30 minutes and lots of cellular data on all sorts of Hertz customer service numbers to finally figure it out.Reviewed 5 Oct. 2016
