The agent from whom I picked up the car was very good and professional. The agent with whom I dropped off the car, was not very professional. He would not answer my questions about dropping off at that location, and walked away as I was talking. Then I found out Avis had charged me extra for dropping off at another nearby location (10 streets away), from where I had picked up, even though that's what they had instructed me to do, because the location I picked up from, closes prematurely at 3:00 p.m.. I had to call in and ask for the refund on the extra $25 charge.

The location I booked was closed despite multiple confirmations from Hertz and it's impossible to talk to someone on the phone at hertz. When we finally did she was completely unhelpful. Eventually worked out..

We were not able to rent a car for 3 hours. Made 3 different reservation as they complained about payment methods, then charged double of the cost of the reservation for unknown reasons. I will definitely seek NY legal claim against Hertz. They made my family’s trip a night mare. We finally got a car through another well known rental company who took 5 mins, no issues. Extremely dissatisfied to say the least.

Cons:

Was never a walk around when getting the car. Just picked up car and drove off didn’t need to show papers to anyine! Odd ....but ok!

They tried to give me an electric vehicle. I was making a 5.5 hour drive and was not prepared for the logistics of a EV (where to find reliable list of locations for chargers, etc) and therefore was forced to pay to 'upgrade' because they had no other cars in the class I purchased. That's their problem, not mine, but i was forced to pay anyway.

Cons:

My reservation was for 3pm. I arrived a little after 3 and the rental location was closed. Nowhere on the app or in the reservation process was it made clear that the location closed at 3. I tried to make another reservation somewhere, but the Kayak app showed no cars available anywhere. Literally none. Very, very disappointed in the whole experience. And I’d like a refund of the $22 pre-paid in insurance for a car I never got.

Cons:

Car wasn’t fully cleaned, pickup staff wasn’t very virtuous and nobody explained the functionality of the car (or was even available to ask questions)

Pickup in NY Dropoff in DC Both very easy. Good car (Hyunday Tucson) in very good condition. I would have preferred to pay with Debit Card, but only Credit Card was accepted
