Spent 2 hours in a sweltering room. 85° 100% humidity as one poor clerk tried to handle 12 rentals. Even after she was done, took another 40 minutes to deliver the car from the garage. Whoever runs the 53rd street location should be ashamed of themselves.

When I booked it it was $80 then I found out they charged me $280
I couldn’t even rent the car because they wanted to put on a hold on my credit card that was more than double the actual amount. I figured maybe a little higher, but I couldn’t rent the car and there was no way for me to cancel through Kayak or Hertz. Each told me the other had to cancel, so I have no idea if I’m getting charged or anything? This is why zipcar is better.

We waited over 3 hours for our car rental because the facility (and at least 3 other facilities surrounding it) did not have cars for at least 15-20 people who were ahead of us. Because of this significant delay, we missed a wedding ceremony and cannot get this experience back. Management and their computer system need a revamp to ensure there are enough cars for the reservations made because having 15-20 different groups wait more than even just 30 minutes for their car agreement is extremely poor business and unprofessional. The staff themselves were nice and it's not their fault. The facility was clean with a working bathroom.

The car broke down 45 minutes out of the city on an entry ramp to a freeway. The police towed the car after working with Hertz emergency service. They had no other cars and the 55th Street location would not answer the phone the entire weekend. It cost me several hundred dollars in Ubers and ruined my weekend. I had to go into the office in person and called the phone while he sat there and didn’t answer it. I’ve never had such base service in my life. I’ve requested reimbursement but they have not yet responded.

One week after returning the vehicle, I am still waiting for Budget to refund a $200 security deposit, which it imposed because I used a debit card. What’s the justification for that delay? Pickup was fine other than the fact that I rented a Cadillac and was given a Chrysler minivan. The return location at New Haven’s Union Station had no markings whatsoever. There is no way to know where to return the vehicle. I literally had to park the vehicle on the street and run inside the RR station to try to find the Budget office. In fact, there is no signage INSIDE, either. As it turns out, Budget & Avis share an office, with only an Avis sign. But my primary issue is, when am I going to get my security deposit back?

They gave me grand Cherokee jeep. It was not clean from inside and outside. Tyres were hard and shocks issue. Harsh noise whenever road is uneven.

The line was too long to wait for: I arrived around 2 and people had been waiting since 11am. I was in line for an hour and only two people were served, with a line wrapped around the office, through the garage, and almost to the street.
I rented a car to return it by 10 PM. When I arrived to return it 30 minutes early, there were no employees available—only one staff member from the rental parking lot. He shouted at me, saying, "There's no one here anymore, so you can't return it here. Get out of here right now," and then gave me an address that was unrelated to the rental location. I asked him three times if he could assist with the return, and he finally agreed, but only after a lot of reluctance. This kind of attitude is unacceptable.

I had a terrible experience with Dollar. Complete bait and switch. I showed up to pick up my rental. I was told they didn't have any cars and I can wait three hours or pay three times as much for an upgrade! When I tried to argue, he said he would just give the car to someone else

they did not have any cars at all despite the reservation ….that is not acceptable - many people were left without cars for their trips i will never use village again i had to take my business off kayak and go to enterprise directly but had to pay $100 for an Uber to get my dog to the airport to get the car

The car booked was not available. I had to take a cab to an alternate location, where I was provided a smaller vehicle than the one booked. Plus the rental started later than booked
It was a fantastic experience - they first gave me a free upgrade, but wasn't the car I wanted, so they went to another shop to get what I needed. Later, I needed to extend my booking and they responded at 7am! No hassle, and everything was taken care of.

After arriving at the facility with a Lyft for our pre booked rental we then had the hassle that due to fact they have now only have chip pin payment and my chip was not working on my credit card and company policy is they won’t accept debit card, nor would they let anyone in the party pay the “refundable deposit” they just say there with blank looks on their faces saying there was nothing they could do, we were about to drive from NY to Florida, so luckily for us Budget was only a few blocks away and they as always went out of their way to help us get on our 10 day road trip ! Nice to see good old American Customer Service is still alive at Budget as Alamo sucks with theirs!!
